Kap, notice how we got Bush's A-Game when a hurricane came close to Texas? This is another reason why we need another Texan as President. Hammer Time '08
  4. This is probably just lies from the liberal media trying to make Bush look bad Washington Post Link more, much more than that, at the link . . .
  5. Based on results this entire century, I fear "insert rookie name here" far more than Colon, Santana, Johnson, et. al. I'm not nearly as worried about Mark Buerhle showing up as I am worried about the bats showing up. I know what I'll be praying about in Church today. You know, after the important, altrusistic, stuff.

    Happy Birthday!
  7. The nights are forever when you are missing someone and they can't email.
  8. I think the Indian, Twin, Tiger, and Royal players not cheering for us has a much worse effect than Cub fans not cheering for us.
  9. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Sep 24, 2005 -> 01:16 PM) NICE!!!! Im gonna remember that one. LMAO, only GOPerheads would compare grades with food, clothing, and shelter
  10. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 24, 2005 -> 12:23 PM) Of course we miss their offense. There's no one who thinks the offense is better without them. However, we needed to free up money to fill a lot of holes, and that's what was done. KW had a terrific offseason last year, and I'm eagerly anticipating this coming offseason also. The need to tear down to fill holes is what seperates the have from the have nots. As soon as a player emerges as an all-star and will earn all-star dollars, he gawn, and the suck cycle continues. Soon we will be tearing down the starting staff to fill holes in offense.
  11. QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Sep 24, 2005 -> 12:56 PM) And if Carl is setting the bench tonight, does that mean Timo is our DH??? :headshake That would get the players to shut up and accept the genius that is OZ. Oz needs to take a strong lead and let the players know he'll sit someone, regardless of ability and chances to win, if they dare question him. If these players are so damn smart why aren't they managers?
  12. QUOTE(knightni @ Sep 24, 2005 -> 12:31 PM) I swear, between Ozzie, Buehrle and Konerko... There must be someone in the Sox dugout that STFU and just plays the games...right? Imagine how nice the sports pages, tv shows, and radio shows would be if the particpants never talked, or if they did, it was always to say how great everything is going. Marriotti wouldn't have a job. You can't write about a team unless you are a die hard fan, like Gammy and the Red Sox.
  13. QUOTE(CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Sep 24, 2005 -> 12:05 PM) Anything but going to the press , that just makes a bad situation worse. Wouldn't you agree? I would venture a guess that Carl was already talking to his team mates. The only thing that talking to the media does is now make the fans aware. I don't see where it makes a big difference in how the team will play. Imagine how exciting sports coverage would be if all we heard was "I'm happy! I love my manager! I love my players! All is great!" This is what creates interest and keeps fans engaged. How come we never have 50 post threads when a player says everything is wonderful? Interesting that no one is telling OZ to STFU instead of threatening to not put Carl in the lineup. And imagine the cheers if he took Carl out for his remarks and plugged in Timo!! Do you really think any player is going to think about Carl tonight and not the Twins? Who is going to play better if Carl did STFU? "Ozzie wants to quit, Kong isn't certain about his kongtract, and now Carl is unhappy, for the love of God how can I play"
  14. QUOTE(CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Sep 24, 2005 -> 11:07 AM) Tex, don't think those disagreeing with you necessarily want Carl to STFU totally. The fact of the matter is he took it to the press first which isnt part of the White Sox organization. If Carl wants to gripe thats his right but gripe to the man making the lineup. Sit down and talk face to face . How hard can that be ? There is a group of people hear who everytime someone complains, from Ozzie to Marriotti, it's always STFU. Kong and his kontract? STFU. Ozzie and fans booing? STFU. Gooch batting 2 instead of 3? STFU. I LMAO that people somehow think players 1. Are not human, with human emotions. 2. Can be so easily distracted. 3. Should only talk to the person directly. Of course the posters don't follow that in their own lives.

Two different things. Yes, they collapsed on the division lead. No they didn't collapse on the WC lead. Now if they collapse on both leads, now we have some bragging rights, and could be the media darlings for years to come. We could be the Red Sox and Cubs all rolled into one. You want coverage? We'd have coverage.
  16. QUOTE(whitesoxgt @ Sep 24, 2005 -> 10:27 AM) i dont think crede is going anywhere. this organization is in love with crede *dont ask me why* but ever since he came back from the DL hes been playing good and thats a good enough reason for the Kenny Williams to keep him. In the current state of baseball economics, defense is cheaper than offense. The team loves getting someone who is very good at something for cheap. Stolen bases are cheaper than average.
  17. QUOTE(robinventura23 @ Sep 24, 2005 -> 10:31 AM) STFU is right. Who benefits from Carl STFUing? Garcia? Pods? Joey Cora? Ozzie? Nancy Faust? These are adults. 30,000 screaming fans don't faze them, but Carl unhappy and talking will totally f*** up this team. If this team is that fragile, they are soooo screwed.
  18. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Sep 24, 2005 -> 10:23 AM) I'm not talking about how Everett feels. We're trying to win a World Series. If OG thinks that Carl Everett can't contribute in the #3 hole anymore (which the stats prove), then he shouldn't be there anymore regardless of reputation/results etc. I agree 100% with that statement.
  19. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Sep 24, 2005 -> 09:55 AM) We have crap happen all the time we don't like in our workplace. Either deal with it man to man or STFU and stop complaining. I disagree with you on this one, Tex. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 24, 2005 -> 10:01 AM) At this point in the season, you do whatever the hell the manager asks you to do. Everett is just as responsible for the struggles of this team as anyone else. What the hell is he complaining about? He's got a hell of a lot more playing time this year than was expected. These comments by Everett follow in the path of his at-bats this season: SELFISH! QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Sep 24, 2005 -> 10:03 AM) Especially when it's for the BETTERMENT of the team here. I'm sorry, you are all right and I love you. If I hadn't stated my position I would have been so much happier and productive. We all should STFU when we don't like something. I can hear it now, a player saying they went 0-4 because Carl said he was unhappy hitting 6th. "I'm sorry, I walked up in the 9th and all I could think of was Kong's contract, Ozzie wanting to quit, and Carl hitting 6th. It ain't my fault!!"
  20. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Sep 24, 2005 -> 10:03 AM) Especially when it's for the BETTERMENT of the team here. I disagree that unhappy, pissed people, pretending to be happy is better. Clear it up today, don't keep it in.
  21. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Sep 24, 2005 -> 09:55 AM) We have crap happen all the time we don't like in our workplace. Either deal with it man to man or STFU and stop complaining. I disagree with you on this one, Tex. And we tell co-workers, we post here, etc. STFU isn't the answer. We'd have 1/2 the team pissed and keeping it to themselves. Name a championship team that pretends to all be happy and loving each other?
  22. How many people who say Carl STFU would take that advice in their own jobs? Clear the air and move on is far better than letting this s*** fester. It would seem y'all want the team to walk around with fake smiles and a Barney attitude. Perhaps they should sing These are adults who should be able to discuss workplace issues.
  23. I met Bev when he was Managing for Shreveport a couple years ago. Really nice guy, and he had a lot of nice things to say about Sox fans, despite the boos. For the stats heads, Bev had one of the better winning percentages as a Sox manager.
  24. There are about as many great, intelligent, Cub fans as Sox fans. Where the Cub fans get their reputation is the casual fan who occasionally goes to a game. They really aren't Cub fans, they just want to see a mlb game. These are the fans we want at the Cell. We want the to look at the Sox schedule when they attend their once or twice a year trip. We want them to want to see the Yankees, Bo Sox, Indians, etc.
  25. You have to ride with the veterans. You know it always averages out. If Ozzie forces Carl out just because of him questioning OZ one time, this team is f***ed. Imagine working at a company where any questioning of the boss results in you being fired. A good manager works this to his advantage, doesn't just get rid of the guy. Of course OZ says he's quiting after winning the WS, so it's all probably a mute point.
