    Hurricane Katrina

QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 05:20 PM) Optimistically, if they can patch and get power to the pumps, they can pump an inch a day out of the city. That still means 30 days to pump it out in some places. Also, Pontchartrain has to recede, which it supposedly is starting to do. How many times does Nature have to explain we cannot stop water? We have tried to tame the Mississippi and we always fail. Nothing man made last forever or works perfectly. Going to hell for this one, but has anyone else found themselves thinking Zeppelin's When the Levee Breaks?

    Hurricane Katrina

QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 05:15 PM) All I can say is it's amazing what Mother Nature can do to civilization......Making our country look like a 3rd world country with everything being destroyed and food needed and all the stealing going on. I wish I could do down there and help, but I'm a college student. Wish I could do something but I have a family and bills to pay . . . I wonder who does do something? Old people? Shutins? The unemployed? Cubs Fans?

    $30 got me..

To my dismay, I put in $75 and didn't fill up. I was rationed/limited/stopped at 25 gallons at $2.999/gallon Why didn't we elect an oilman for President, he'd know how to fix this. AT least his buddies are doing well.
  5. While we are singing join me please "my country steals from me, sweet land of liberty . . ." and btw, the bathrooms on the right . . .
  6. If he had Jenks stuff, BMAC's fastball would be a changeup. And that's nothing against BMAC, just a note on Jenks fastball.

  9. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 07:12 PM) Verizon rocks, although its a little more expensive than cingular/tmobile/att/etc I'm really happy with it though. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 07:12 PM) Verizon rocks, although its a little more expensive than cingular/tmobile/att/etc I'm really happy with it though. Down here the giant sucking sound was Verizon. I couldn't get service in the middle of McAllen, and if their circuit was busy (which was always) it would bump me to the Cellular 1 towers and I would have to dial an area code. I just switched all 5 of my phones to Cingular.
  10. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 04:52 PM) I LOVE the Tony Danza Song! Because we want to rock and roll all night and part of every day
  11. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 01:40 PM) His name is Man Hands and he dances in the sand.. Kinda catchy, no? Any relation?
  12. Drinking games! Anyone play Alchy Uno? Played like regular Uno, only you do a shot for every 250 points. We also took unlimited cards if you don't have a play.

    Hurricane Katrina

QUOTE(Queen Prawn @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 12:15 PM) For as long as it was sitting in the water as well as the contaminates that are in the water, it would likely have to go through a serious cleaning to work and then some of the chips might be toast already. You are such an engineer I would think with more and more integrated chips some of these will work. Plus they could always return them to WalMart if and when WalMart reopens.

  15. QUOTE(YASNY @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 06:08 AM) Do you mean the Rev. Jesse Jackson? good point.
  16. QUOTE(YASNY @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 10:16 AM) You have to translate those Texas expressions. Let me have a nice woman sing it for you . . .
  17. There is something special about checking the schedule at the beginning of the season and seeing that Sunday doubleheader against the Yanks or Tigers. Single games we didn't make advance plans to go see, but the double headers, those were planned for.
  18. they never caught the second gunman on the grassy knoll. Perhaps he's the cheat
  19. QUOTE(GoSox05 @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 10:12 AM) great the teams gonna get all wasted and play like s*** today. Godamn Drunks. Ozzie only tells them to go get drunk after a tough loss.
  20. QUOTE(ChiSoxyGirl @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 10:14 PM) Brandon-- I love you. Soxy Soxy does love heights, and 6'7" is a tall drink of water . . . ____________________
  21. QUOTE(retro1983hat @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 09:56 AM) Does anyone know if BMac got the beer shower last night? Well, let's see. Bmac would know, I assume the players would know. He would have called a friend or two after the game. So yes, some people would know.
  22. There will probably be a spot start or two toward the end of the season to set up the playoff rotation. I would assume that Ozzie will have Mark, Freddy, and Garland coming in on their regular rest. As long as things do not get too tight, Ozzie will have that luxury. With the September call ups, Oz will have more arms in the bullpen and presumably will be quicker to shut down the starters.
  23. I felt like such a geek, that question had been buzzing around my head all day. All of a sudden the lusting interview came to mind. Sadly, I was thinking great PR blunders.
  24. Since the cherry win was in Texas, we'll have to make you an honorary Texan.
