  1. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Aug 26, 2005 -> 11:32 AM) The wife posting as you again, Tex? see 2nd post
  2. Some one want to change my previous post to green??
  3. Lobster is almost heaven, I believe crab legs are actually better.
  4. I think y'all need to reevaluate your personal relationships and understand that the love of a woman, and all she gives you, is far more important than any baseball team or internet site. We should all treasure, love, and honor our significant others.
  5. What this country needs is an oilman for President
  6. QUOTE(marsh @ Aug 26, 2005 -> 10:27 AM) Think of how dumb the average person is. Half the people in the world are dumber than that person.
  7. QUOTE(Steff @ Aug 26, 2005 -> 09:42 AM) Sorry boys.... "Because I want it" is not a good enough reason to spend many thousands of $$'s on a CC membership... Don't even worry about the ID and dues. It's the UPS guy bringing the monthly statement that really does it. Is it an equity club? Then you get the periodic assessment for special projects or repairs. Still I miss the hanging out on the putting green on a Thursday evening with my buddies, making stupid bets, drinking a couple beers.
  8. QUOTE(mreye @ Aug 26, 2005 -> 09:46 AM) OK. Kill all male first born! No, keep having them and let them starve to death or succumb to the diseases of over crowding.
  9. y'all having fun here? If you're going to argue, fight, etc. take it to Pale Hose
  10. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Aug 26, 2005 -> 09:26 AM) So adding to the list of stupid things I've done, closing my locker at work, and leaving my wallet which had the padlock key in it, in the locker. So the next 20 mins I proceeded to saw off my lock, and then the saw broke. Most frustrating half hour for a long, long time. wait until you discover it isn't your locker
  11. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Aug 26, 2005 -> 09:26 AM) An excellent essay. I found the suggestions about how we will come to lament a "necrotic" suburbia and our decision to go that route to be particularly insightful. I disagree with his assessment of the importance of future energy-to-biomass operations, although they will only be viable in certain locations. Pyrolysis is a more promising production method than the older biogenic means of fermenting 'biogas', and the input issues regarding fertilizers are obviated if we harvest seaweed as the biomas source. Twenty years from now we'll probably have pyrolysis factory ships permanently out in the Sargasso Sea harvesting Sargassum to convert into burnable fuel. Of course none of that can be done on a scale sufficient to replace much of the lost oil production, and it won't solve environmental issues since these fuels will still be combusted in order to release energy. Hopefully somebody also gets serious about looking into the feasibility of OTEC (Ocean Thermal Energy Conversion) in addition to fuel cell and renewable alternative energy sources. But, largely I agree with the essay. Things will be very different for upcoming generations. It's always fun when I have to read a post on a baseball message board with my unabridged dictionary by my side.
  12. QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Aug 26, 2005 -> 08:35 AM) That link f***ed with my computer severly!!! I ended up having to shut down. Firefox just puked on it as well. IE worked fine. Depends on what plug ins you have loaded.
  13. Happened to a friend of mine. He exited at Rte 22 (?) when it was an exact change only exit, with no manned booth. He didn't have any change, couldn't go backwards on the ramp, drove through and picked up a $75 ticket. Some people forget their wallets, some are idiots.
  14. QUOTE(Queen Prawn @ Aug 26, 2005 -> 08:25 AM) Now if it had been David Pearson, Richard Petty or Jeff Burton (okay, Nascar fans, which one doesn't belong lol?), you might have a deal lol. Now for an off topic though... BRISTOL AT NIGHT BABY! Too bad I have to miss from about 6:45 to about 8 (meeting with Father - my dumbass didn't think about it until after I made the appointment). Ahhh, Jeff in the Chase
  15. QUOTE(EvilJester99 @ Aug 26, 2005 -> 08:28 AM) Do they have cliff notes for this article??? We're f***ed if we don't change our ways.
  16. Ozzie gets stubborn and stupid. Even a blind squirrel finds an acorn now and again. I don't mind Timo as much as I dislike Ozzies stuck on Timo thinking.
  17. QUOTE(JDsDirtySox @ Aug 26, 2005 -> 07:49 AM) Superstitions are a big part of my life... lol. Honestly, I am a very superstitious person. This is even where my name "JDsDirtySox" comes from. In college, I wore the same pair of socks without washing them for over a year. I could go on and on about the superstitions that I still carry with me to this day, but I enjoy the friendships I have made here, and don't want you guys to think I am a nut job. hehe. We'd be more worried if you aren't a nut job. As long as everyone here is nuts, we all seem sane. As soon as a normal person gets in, we're in trouble.
  18. QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Aug 25, 2005 -> 06:15 PM) Whoever made this comment just doesn't get it. If they were that uptight, they would never allow their kid in the locker room in the first place. The locker room is basically a fraternity house. Naked pictures of women, constant cursing, talk of women and sexual conquests, pranks and jokes, even porn. Most MLB batboys are 18-21 years old, not 14 like you might see at a Minor League game. The batboys have clubhouse duties and work for tips as well, doing whatever is needed, from cleaning up, helping with laundry, shining the players shoes, or just running errands for the players. Whoever made that comment just doesn't understand the dynamics of a locker room. I'm not saying that everything that goes on in there is right, but to act shocked is pretty naive. I'm wondering what workplace rules would be in effect for a clubhouse. I cannot believe that US Labor laws do not apply to a major league clubhouse. So I doubt that naked pictures are still up, porn being played, etc. Maybe a generation ago, but if there are employees of the club there, I am certain there is more restraint than in the past.
  19. QUOTE(YASNY @ Aug 26, 2005 -> 03:52 AM) I was respecting this guy, until that last paragraph. :headshake Actually it made being the only White Sox fan on the team more fun. I had to be sharp on my stats, team history, and everything else. Playing in blue pin stripes wasn't so bad. They were really well made as I recall. He also started and ran the local youth football program out of his garage for years until the Park District bought him out. Equipment day was a trip to Ron's house and getting fitted for the gear. He also coached every sport, boys and girls, for the local Parochial School. He didn't have a teaching cert and could not teach in the public schools. Another lesson learned about baseball. late in the game we were losing 0-2 and being no hitted. I was leading off the inning and laid down an almost perfect drag bunt. Is was crossing first when it veered foul. Ron was at the batter's box to "greet" me as I ran back. He whispered in my ear "Never, I mean NEVER break up a no hitter with a bunt. If you do you'll be running laps for days. You can hit this guy." With the new found confidence I returned to the plate, took two more rips, and sat down.
  20. QUOTE(ChiSoxyGirl @ Aug 25, 2005 -> 04:38 PM) So, I just met with the professor I'm TAing with who is very nice, but so incredibly disorganized it physically hurts me. The class is some kind of multi-cultural thing and, yeah. We have "visitors" I'm supposed to coordinate once a week. So, in two weeks is lesbian week, so where does one find lesbians? And how does that teach sensitivity: look class, look at the lesbians! I'm so not happy about this. Seriously, isn't there a gay and lesbian club on campus, or has that become so last century?
  21. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Aug 26, 2005 -> 12:03 AM) When I was growing up I always used to look forward to the fall. Reason being the leaves changing colors was awesome but that sweet smell in the air that came along with it was just to die for. the smell of deer rifles being shot?
