QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 07:12 PM) Verizon rocks, although its a little more expensive than cingular/tmobile/att/etc I'm really happy with it though. Down here the giant sucking sound was Verizon. I couldn't get service in the middle of McAllen, and if their circuit was busy (which was always) it would bump me to the Cellular 1 towers and I would have to dial an area code. I just switched all 5 of my phones to Cingular.- Catch-All Anything Thread

QUOTE(Queen Prawn @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 12:15 PM) For as long as it was sitting in the water as well as the contaminates that are in the water, it would likely have to go through a serious cleaning to work and then some of the chips might be toast already. QUOTE(retro1983hat @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 09:56 AM) Does anyone know if BMac got the beer shower last night? Well, let's see. Bmac would know, I assume the players would know. He would have called a friend or two after the game. So yes, some people would know.- Six-man rotation
There will probably be a spot start or two toward the end of the season to set up the playoff rotation. I would assume that Ozzie will have Mark, Freddy, and Garland coming in on their regular rest. As long as things do not get too tight, Ozzie will have that luxury. With the September call ups, Oz will have more arms in the bullpen and presumably will be quicker to shut down the starters.- famous public apologies?
I felt like such a geek, that question had been buzzing around my head all day. All of a sudden the lusting interview came to mind. Sadly, I was thinking great PR blunders.- Soxtalk Congratulates Brandon McCarthy

QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 07:58 PM) You know, I've been thinking about the question, and I think I may have a plausible answer in Jimmy Carter. For those too young to remember, carter was crucified for admitting that he had "lusted in his heart" for women other than his wife in a 1976 Playboy interview. I can concede that his Presidency left a lot to be desired, but the guy had integrity and pretty much did nothing more than admit to what we all know everybody does. It's simple human nature to have sexual fantasies. In the interview he even went as far as saying that he didn't consider himself any better than an actual adulterer because the sins were no different in the eyes of his God. It didn't save him from being publicly skewered however. So, basically, he admitted a wrongdoing (at least in the eyes to his God) that he didn't have to - and got a lot of grief for his trouble. Here's the Playboy synopsis: Damn you. I was just getting ready to post that. Carter has also done more for humanity and has been a greater ex-President thank anyone else.- Hurricane Katrina
QUOTE(Queen Prawn @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 09:22 PM) and Venezuela offers fuel, food to hurricane-hit US CARACAS (AFP) - Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez offered to send food and fuel to the United States after the powerful Hurricane Katrina pummeled the US south, ravaging US crude production. The leftist leader, a frequent critic of the United States and a target himself of US disapproval, said Venezuela could send aid workers with drinking water, food and fuel to US communities hit by the hurricane. "We place at the disposition of the people of the United States in the event of shortages -- we have drinking water, food, we can provide fuel," Chavez told reporters. Chavez said fuel could be sent to the United States via a Citgo refinery that has not been affected by the hurricane. Citgo is owned by Venezuela's state-owned oil company, Petroleos de Venezuela (PDVSA). In the Gulf of Mexico, which accounts for a quarter of total US oil output, 92 percent of crude and 83 percent of natural gas production were shut down due to Hurricane Katrina, which slammed Louisiana and Mississippi, according to US government data. Venezuela is the fourth-largest provider of oil to the United States, supplying some 1.5 million barrels a day. Last week, Chavez offered discount gasoline to poor Americans suffering from high oil prices and on Sunday offered free eye surgery for Americans without access to health care. I need his address to send a thank you note . . .- Soxtalk Congratulates Brandon McCarthy
