Let the Mariotti Bashing Begin
QUOTE(The Critic @ Sep 1, 2005 -> 07:07 AM) He's not incorrect, but this article just falls in line with what Mariotti does. He just writes enough articles on both sides of a topic so that he appear to be "right" no matter what happens. As a columnist, he's supposed to write about what's going on, but the annoying thing about him is that he over-reacts with a tinge of anger in his tone, as if he cares what happens to any Chicago team. He clearly doesn't care, except I will suggest that he might enjoy when teams lose because he gets to trot out his own stupid nicknames and smarmy attitude. Hard to treat a winning team that way. I will contend he shouldn't care. If you want commentary from people who care, just say here and read all the caring you want. If he was writing for a Minnesota or Cleveland paper, there would not be the venomous opinions against him. I am willing to bet we could find more than a few respected posters here who have said everything in his column. Still, as a Mariotti fan, I believe this is one of his worse columns. Not from what he said but how he said it. His dislike for the organization and the key people who represent the organization, are not veiled like he usually tries. I think he mailed this one in. Disappointing because the Jay I know and like reading should have been writing and rewriting this column since the All-Star break, waiting for the right moment to publish it. Instead it looks like he wrote it last night.

Finley to Spurs
They still have to play the games. It's hard for me to not be a Spurs fan living a couple hundred miles south of them. I also appreciate that they have won with some pretty solid citizens, not easy in the NBA.

Wow, just wow. That's almost as sad as the physical destruction. :headshake- Hurricane Katrina
QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 05:20 PM) Optimistically, if they can patch and get power to the pumps, they can pump an inch a day out of the city. That still means 30 days to pump it out in some places. Also, Pontchartrain has to recede, which it supposedly is starting to do. How many times does Nature have to explain we cannot stop water? We have tried to tame the Mississippi and we always fail. Nothing man made last forever or works perfectly. Going to hell for this one, but has anyone else found themselves thinking Zeppelin's When the Levee Breaks?- Hurricane Katrina
QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 05:15 PM) All I can say is it's amazing what Mother Nature can do to civilization......Making our country look like a 3rd world country with everything being destroyed and food needed and all the stealing going on. I wish I could do down there and help, but I'm a college student. Wish I could do something but I have a family and bills to pay . . . I wonder who does do something? Old people? Shutins? The unemployed? Cubs Fans?- $30 got me..
To my dismay, I put in $75 and didn't fill up. I was rationed/limited/stopped at 25 gallons at $2.999/gallon Why didn't we elect an oilman for President, he'd know how to fix this. AT least his buddies are doing well.- Catch-All Anything Thread

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 07:12 PM) Verizon rocks, although its a little more expensive than cingular/tmobile/att/etc I'm really happy with it though. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 07:12 PM) Verizon rocks, although its a little more expensive than cingular/tmobile/att/etc I'm really happy with it though. Down here the giant sucking sound was Verizon. I couldn't get service in the middle of McAllen, and if their circuit was busy (which was always) it would bump me to the Cellular 1 towers and I would have to dial an area code. I just switched all 5 of my phones to Cingular.- Catch-All Anything Thread
