  1. Happened to a friend of mine. He exited at Rte 22 (?) when it was an exact change only exit, with no manned booth. He didn't have any change, couldn't go backwards on the ramp, drove through and picked up a $75 ticket. Some people forget their wallets, some are idiots.
  2. QUOTE(Queen Prawn @ Aug 26, 2005 -> 08:25 AM) Now if it had been David Pearson, Richard Petty or Jeff Burton (okay, Nascar fans, which one doesn't belong lol?), you might have a deal lol. Now for an off topic though... BRISTOL AT NIGHT BABY! Too bad I have to miss from about 6:45 to about 8 (meeting with Father - my dumbass didn't think about it until after I made the appointment). Ahhh, Jeff in the Chase
  3. QUOTE(EvilJester99 @ Aug 26, 2005 -> 08:28 AM) Do they have cliff notes for this article??? We're f***ed if we don't change our ways.
  4. Ozzie gets stubborn and stupid. Even a blind squirrel finds an acorn now and again. I don't mind Timo as much as I dislike Ozzies stuck on Timo thinking.
  5. QUOTE(JDsDirtySox @ Aug 26, 2005 -> 07:49 AM) Superstitions are a big part of my life... lol. Honestly, I am a very superstitious person. This is even where my name "JDsDirtySox" comes from. In college, I wore the same pair of socks without washing them for over a year. I could go on and on about the superstitions that I still carry with me to this day, but I enjoy the friendships I have made here, and don't want you guys to think I am a nut job. hehe. We'd be more worried if you aren't a nut job. As long as everyone here is nuts, we all seem sane. As soon as a normal person gets in, we're in trouble.
  6. QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Aug 25, 2005 -> 06:15 PM) Whoever made this comment just doesn't get it. If they were that uptight, they would never allow their kid in the locker room in the first place. The locker room is basically a fraternity house. Naked pictures of women, constant cursing, talk of women and sexual conquests, pranks and jokes, even porn. Most MLB batboys are 18-21 years old, not 14 like you might see at a Minor League game. The batboys have clubhouse duties and work for tips as well, doing whatever is needed, from cleaning up, helping with laundry, shining the players shoes, or just running errands for the players. Whoever made that comment just doesn't understand the dynamics of a locker room. I'm not saying that everything that goes on in there is right, but to act shocked is pretty naive. I'm wondering what workplace rules would be in effect for a clubhouse. I cannot believe that US Labor laws do not apply to a major league clubhouse. So I doubt that naked pictures are still up, porn being played, etc. Maybe a generation ago, but if there are employees of the club there, I am certain there is more restraint than in the past.
  7. QUOTE(YASNY @ Aug 26, 2005 -> 03:52 AM) I was respecting this guy, until that last paragraph. :headshake Actually it made being the only White Sox fan on the team more fun. I had to be sharp on my stats, team history, and everything else. Playing in blue pin stripes wasn't so bad. They were really well made as I recall. He also started and ran the local youth football program out of his garage for years until the Park District bought him out. Equipment day was a trip to Ron's house and getting fitted for the gear. He also coached every sport, boys and girls, for the local Parochial School. He didn't have a teaching cert and could not teach in the public schools. Another lesson learned about baseball. late in the game we were losing 0-2 and being no hitted. I was leading off the inning and laid down an almost perfect drag bunt. Is was crossing first when it veered foul. Ron was at the batter's box to "greet" me as I ran back. He whispered in my ear "Never, I mean NEVER break up a no hitter with a bunt. If you do you'll be running laps for days. You can hit this guy." With the new found confidence I returned to the plate, took two more rips, and sat down.

    Happy Birthday!
  9. QUOTE(ChiSoxyGirl @ Aug 25, 2005 -> 04:38 PM) So, I just met with the professor I'm TAing with who is very nice, but so incredibly disorganized it physically hurts me. The class is some kind of multi-cultural thing and, yeah. We have "visitors" I'm supposed to coordinate once a week. So, in two weeks is lesbian week, so where does one find lesbians? And how does that teach sensitivity: look class, look at the lesbians! I'm so not happy about this. Seriously, isn't there a gay and lesbian club on campus, or has that become so last century?
  10. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Aug 26, 2005 -> 12:03 AM) When I was growing up I always used to look forward to the fall. Reason being the leaves changing colors was awesome but that sweet smell in the air that came along with it was just to die for. the smell of deer rifles being shot?
  11. QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Aug 25, 2005 -> 10:53 PM) Tex, for the record, was the google "Brigitte Bardot", or "killing puppies"? For your record, actually. "sure fire shark fishing bait MILF*" *Isn't that included in every google search

    http://www.villagevoice.com/news/0534,gonnerman,67077,5.html Interesting read. I didn't know we were giving addicts prescription drugs. How about trying to get them to stop heroin in the first place??
  13. http://sg.news.yahoo.com/050825/1/3ui77.html sickos. But for the fisherman in the crowd, I'm thinking trolling with dogs would be a challenge. Small, pug nosed animals would be good top water baits, and long nosed dogs would dive deeper for bottom bumping action.
  14. Thought I would share this link Gotta love 70s rock
  15. I have a very nice NASCAR Dale Earnhardt commemorative knife, in a decorative tin, that I will trade for a White Sox item. If anyone is interested, PM me to work out a trade. The knife has never been used.

    QUOTE(kapkomet @ Aug 25, 2005 -> 04:50 PM) Sorry - did you even know what I meant about the server load? Anything less then 3.00 is meaning the server is functioning well. It's usally anywhere between 0.50 and 0.75 when we have 250 people on here. It's the database that's the problem, pure and simple. I can probably shut the site down this weekend and rebuild the database, that might help some. Personally, I'd dump anything more than 1 year old. Trust me, I've read most of the posts, and wrote way too many of them, there isn't anything there worth savings. or Let Jas rebuild the database and solve it that way.
  17. QUOTE(Steff @ Aug 25, 2005 -> 04:49 PM) OMG Tex... Always trying to be helpful.

  19. QUOTE(Brian @ Aug 25, 2005 -> 01:11 PM) The worst part is the first minute, than it goes numb and you hardly feel anything. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Aug 25, 2005 -> 01:13 PM) I think that is the 'birds and bees' talk mothers used to give their dughters in the 1950s. Taking one for England . . .

    f*** 'em. Most of them have wheel chairs, so it's not like they have to walk or anything.
  21. Nothing better than the smell of a locker room after a victory . . . Linkage here to hockey confirmation seems this fetish may be spreading
