  1. I've never started the game thread. Slump buster? or another bust? This is the moment for Mark to set the tone. Be the ace. Oops, Freddy did that last night. This is the moment for Paulie to spark some offense.
  2. Great read. I'm looking at my business, I need a big ass truck to haul my rig, and thinking this may be a great time to buy a truck. They must be sitting on lots with everyone trying to trade them in for fuel sippers. Maybe a nice Dodge Cummings Diesel.
  3. You can build a nice dog without the full Chicago fixin's, but it isn't a Chicago dog. I'll admit, while in Mexicon and going native, I enjoyed a bacon wrapped dog with lettuce, tomato, and mayonnaise that was damn tasty. The nuclear green relish was replaced pictorially by a nuclear red hot dog.
  4. I have to believe, with each anemic offensive performance, that the cost of adding a bat is getting steeper and steeper and the chances are getting one worse and worse. I know if I was a GM and Kenny came a callin' looking for offense, I'd be asking for an extra this or that.
  5. Looking over the list, I am even more convinced that trading prospects is always a good thing. The success rate is so low, no wonder that the MLB draft is only slightly less than the Vietnam draft is numbers of healthy kids drafted.
  6. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Aug 23, 2005 -> 11:33 PM) Milkman probably has it figured out. Both of my younglings still feel the need to gross me out with ketchup on their dogs. But, if we are talking about the heavenly aspects of the CHICAGO DOG, there is no place for ketchup in the discussion. A 100% authentic CHICAGO DOG consists of: - Vienna Beef dog - POPPY SEED bun (preferably Mary Anne brand), steamed - mustard (yellow) - scary bright nuclear green relish of unknown origin -chopped onions - tomato slices (2 or 3) - whole hot peppers (sport peppers) (2) - a Kosher pickle spear placed longways, paralell to the dog and bun (a cucumber spear is acceptable here as well) - celery salt And that is it. Nothing else is allowed or needed, and any substitutions or deletions makes it not a CHICAGO DOG. The only variation that should be allowed is the cooking of the dog. Charred or not. I'm on the charred side, but mostly because the first time I ordered one at Chicago Dogs, University Ave, Edinburg, Texas the owner looked up at me and said, you *must* be from Chicago. Getting the proper ingredients is difficult around the country. Craig orders his kosher dogs from Vienna in Chicago and the buns from a Chicago supplier as well. You cannot find poppy seed buns in many locations. It was the first clue he "got it right". I also believe the whole no ketchup thing really caught steam from Sudden Impact. Almost anything Eastwood said in the Dirty Harry movies became a cultural icon. Feel lucky? On the pizza front: Pat's Pizza Grayslake, IL. thin crust Lou's (any location) deep dish sausage Rosati's -- bacon pizza
  7. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Aug 23, 2005 -> 04:43 PM) JUST SAY NO TO KETCHUP ON HOTDOGS!!! That is a first degree food felony. Sudden Impact LOL In Mexico, mayonnaise is standard. That is even more wrong, on soooooooo many different and disturbing levels.
  8. I have found a great hot dog down here at a place correctly called Chicago Dogs. Great guy owns it, kosher dogs, perfect. I've had some excellent italian beef sandwiches while traveling. I have never, never, had a truly outstanding pizza beyond 200 miles of Chicago. The sausage is all wrong, the sauce is too runny and tomato"ee", it's cut in pie wedges for God sake. So IMNSHO, Pizza is the correct choice.

  11. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Aug 23, 2005 -> 11:20 AM) No not at all. I want a candidate on the other side that will force this group to get back to some true conservative values that I believe in. I want to see them talking about smaller government, less taxes, less intrusion, etc. With Kerry all they will do is run another soundbyte campaign, with no substance in response to Kerry's "I'm not Bush" campaign. how about coming back to just spending what they take in, not increasing the debt to become popular? The GOPerheads spend and not collect, and convince the public that somehow someone else will pay when the economy grows, is a dangerous scam. Basically the Grand Ol' Party is equating the Dems with Russians, and trying to spend the Dems into oblivion. How about respecting the checks and balances built into our system and not attacking the judicial branch? How about respecting the fourth estate and their efforts to keep freedom of speech intact, and corruption exposed? Then I will come back to the party.
  12. What I found interesting Kid was the lack of anti-American language in his article. I'm not certain where the comparison to Jane Fonda and Viet Nam fits in all this unless there was some more information out there. Freedom of speech should be encouraged, not slammed.

  15. Now he needs to start invading other countries to spread his brand of democracy
  16. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Aug 23, 2005 -> 10:16 AM) Nah, another run by this insipid moron would suit me just fine. Kerry vs. DeLay

    Acronym of the day

From an email list serve I'm on. I've cut the subject matter a bit, the advice holds well. BTW, he will be flamed, harassed, and made to pay for jumping on this particular guy's stuff. 2 years of planning and training and the person being responded to, claimed his trip was ruined because of the poor quality of dehydrated trail food, his cracker box getting wet, etc.

Here's one more bit of advice. Don't make important life decisions from advice you receive on an internet message board.

    Organ Donors

Some religions have taught that organ donation is a bad thing, but most have changed their official stance. For example, there is an attitude against organ donation in some Hispanic Catholics. The Church down here has held many donor awareness programs to help combat that belief. http://www.txorgansharing.org/RELIGIOUS_VIEWS.htm

    Career Tossup

I found a great article that answers this very question. Link Here. And it's relatively close to Chicago so you can see Sox games all summer.
