A couple days ago I swapped a couple emails with her and invited her to the Visitors Clubhouse, but she declined. She sounded funny as can be and I'll bet would be a forum favorite if she was A. A White Sox Fan B. Posted here

A bus stops and 2 Italian men get on. They sit down and engage in an animated conversation. The lady sitting next to them ignores them at first, but her attention is galvanized when she hears one of them say the following: "Emma come first. Den I come. Den two asses come together. I come once-a-more. Two asses, they come together again. I come again and pee twice. Then I come one lasta time." "You foul-mouthed, sex-obsessed swine," retorted the lady indignantly. "In this country....we don't speak aloud in public places about our sex lives." "Hey, coola down lady," said the man. "Who talkin' abou ta sex? I'm a just a tellin' my frienda how to spell Mississippi."

Game thread 4-19 Sox .vs. Twinkees
Texsox replied to NUKE_CLEVELAND's topic in 2005 Season in Review
I hope the team considers this the second game of the series, and not the last game of the series. -
QUOTE(RockRaines @ Apr 19, 2005 -> 10:49 AM) Twins fans frequent this board= http://p216.ezboard.com/fdtfcdtfcminnesotatwinsforum not a great site however, they also post at the typical MLB and ESPN boards as well. Not much to work with, mostly trolls from other boards. I am not going to the troll boards like espn or mlb. Many of us fled from those boards and their problems. No need to invite trouble.

QUOTE(ChiSoxyGirl @ Apr 18, 2005 -> 02:58 PM) Funny, the NY Times just had a story about a girls high school basketball team from Texas that went deep into the play-offs but fired the coach mostly because she was a lesbian.... Now it's coming out that more sports may be caught up in this at Donna. It's going to hurt their recruiting (oops, I mean) I don't think they will get as many transfers as they have in the past. Amazing how top athletes all of a sudden transfer to Donna or Sharyland and fill a starting hole in the lineup. The worse initiation we had in High School was a jock covering someone's head. But the guy was an obnoxious jerk, and it was more in response to that. We also made the Freshman carry our golf clubs to the school bus after their first meet. I'm still trying to comprehend someone wanting to snap on the gloves. :headshake

QUOTE(winodj @ Apr 13, 2005 -> 11:16 AM) I have a big problem with artwork being investigated by federal authorities. It creates a chilling effect towards the exercise of free expression. And those who believe in democracy and American ideals that we hold dear ought to have a problem with it too. I think there is a difference in investigating and taking inappropriate action. I believe the secret service has a responsibility to investigate any perceived threats to the President to determine if it is a threat or not. Calling it art, does not exempt it from any laws. I do not believe this is a threat, so the feds should look, shake their heads, laugh, get mad, cry, fall to their knees, or any emotional response they like. I can easily see this as art. While it doesn't exactly peg the creativity gage and seems rather sophomoric at best, it does elicit an emotional response, both positive and negative, and I believe art should. The fact that the artist has people here questioning his work, discussing it, arguing it's merits, is victory for the artist. The harshest criticism of an artist is to say nothing, to feel nothing.

QUOTE(El Piervizdyeguchansodnik @ Apr 18, 2005 -> 05:17 PM) I don't mind out of division teams but with Twins fans here the arguments may get heated... This will be the most heavily moderated area. I've been promising we won't jump them and I expect visitors to be polite as well.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Apr 18, 2005 -> 05:50 PM) Greedy, injured, and deceitful? He sure did learn the American way quickly. He should be more like the generous, healthy, honest, owners.

Trust me, I am issuing very selected invitations. No general posts, and no follow ups. Generally I just write here's the link. You won't get jumped, and don't troll.

I could list a scenario that any team but the Royals would win the central. All four of these teams are relatively thin in key areas and have question marks in others. If someone catches fire and stays healthy, it could be almost anyones division. Now, it would take a bigger hit to slow Minny or the Sox, than Cleveland or Detroit. I thought that Detroit needed Maggs to be, well Maggs.

QUOTE(LowerCaseRepublican @ Apr 18, 2005 -> 02:26 PM) This guy is definitely a few fries short of a Happy Meal -- being prosecution for a chess game? He played chess -- its not like he did anything criminal while there. Is Fischer even worth the effort to bring him back? Thought not. He does have a mental disease or defect. It is interesting to me that real genius is on such a thin line with crazy. I played a lot of tournament chess, grew up during Fisher's battle against the Soviet Empire, and during the cold war, chess was a source of national pride for the Soviets, so Fisher's win was an epic battle. Kind of like Madagascar beating the Yankees. The crime he committed in playing Spasky was violating an economic embargo. It seems a lot easier and saner to just revoke his US citizenship and be done with him. If you polled all the great chess players and had them list the top players of all time, Fisher would be on everyones top 5 and probably at least half of the #1 spots. In the pre computer days when all analysis of opening theory had to be sweated out, he was masterful. His analysis during adjournments was incredible. It's sad that he is someone who deserves so little respect for his beliefs.

http://www.5atexasfootball.com/ Just for one division. And if a School Board ever allowed their HS to drop below 5A, they would be voted out My understanding is Indiana basketball is very close to this madness.

Rio Grande Valley Football Forum There is another, bigger one, but I cannot find it.

QUOTE(Steff @ Apr 18, 2005 -> 11:55 AM) One other think I wanted to ask.. do you guys down there hire special coaches for football..? Up here (when I was in HS and we went to state) the football coach was the male PE teacher.. Tex.. my one girlfriends daughter is 3 sport (basketball, vollyeball, and track). Is it different for girls down there? Donna, TX high school just suspended a bunch of players for a freshman initiation that involved latex gloves and bending over. The coach tried to cover it up. When the School Board met to discuss firing him (duh), more people where there to voice their support. After all, they made the playoffs last year. :headshake They claimed the School Board was not showing support for the coach :headshake Football coaches are recruited and some of them also teach an abreviated schedule with almost unlimited comp time. As far as three sport athletes, it's the football coaches that drive much of this. They are under intense scrutiny to win games. They are interviewed a couple times a week, and more people can name the HS football coach than the principal. So they never miss an edge. Somehow teaching football year round to the team and supervising voluntary weight sessions, isn't actually practicing.

White Sox Roster Magic Formula But by having Crede we got Crede made about $350,000 last season. Jose about 10X that. This season Crede moves up to $400,000. The money we saved at third got us

QUOTE(DetroitWhat @ Apr 18, 2005 -> 11:43 AM) Well, you beat our butts in terms of the win column. How many years have the Sox finished in front of Detroit now? How many years have both of our seasons ended on the same day?
-
Most of the bigger High Schools sell season tickets. The main advantage is being assured of playoff tickets. Anything to keep any visiting teams from packing the stands. Have other states gone to sports specific PE scheduling? For example my son takes Tennis. You can sign up for year round specific sports training in PE. We did everything in the course of the year, here they are recruited into specific classes. And don't even think about being a 3-sport athlete. The football team may share you for one other sport, but almost never two others. Did I mention the whispers of someone living in an apartment rent free so they could play for your public HS team??

Ozzie sure does know how to welcome someone. Wake up Oz. You lost two .300 hitters from last year's opening roster and you want to tick off Frank? If this is some minor league psychology ploy, leave the mind games to a professional. Could Ozzie be the baseball version of Mike Keenan, without the success? OMG! I'm defending Frank's attitude! I would not have been doing that two or three years ago. I've always believed, if Frank's leadership was 1/2 as good as his playing ability, the Sox would have seen more post season play and gone deeper at least one year. But starting last year for certain, he was demonstrated at least the ability to not distract.

How many regular season games sell out, in advance, in Chicago? Games in our 8,000 seat stadium regularly sell out. The local news will lead with HS Football, ahead of Cowboys, Texans, and any other sports highlights. The local stations will all have cameras at the top half dozen games, the local sports radio station has part time reporters at every area High School game, that's 20-25 games with live updates. McAllen has a population if 125,000 and 3 HS. We aren't nearly as crazy as some of the middle of nowhere towns with small populations. It's crazy fun.

QUOTE(El Piervizdyeguchansodnik @ Apr 18, 2005 -> 10:07 AM) If this is a ploy to make Franks leaving at years end hurt less then I'm not buying it. They got me to not care about Maggs, Carlos, and others, but they are NOT doing that to Big Frank. April 17 is this a new early season record for discussing Frank's attitude? March of 2004, Frank volunteered to move to #4 in the order, to make room for Maggs. Attitude score 100 Now, we hear this again. I have not seen anything from Frank since opening day 2004 that wasn't good. My first thought is Oz wants to stamp his brand on this team so badly, he's willing to trash Frank. I have seen new managers in business try and move out the old employees and bring in "their people". Most of the time I sense uncertainty and a lack of confidence in the new manager's ability to take charge and lead. They see the existing employees as threats. Maybe we are seeing Ozzie's insecurities in all this. Frank played with Oz. Can you imagine Oz delivering a "you have to be able to lay down a sac bunt" and Frank is over there rolling his eyes and mentioning hey Oz, remember when you went 0-4 against Cleveland and twice failed to lay one down? It is not that easy. Even if Frank doesn't say it, Ozzie knows that Frank knows, how Oz really played.
