    http://www.5atexasfootball.com/ Just for one division. And if a School Board ever allowed their HS to drop below 5A, they would be voted out My understanding is Indiana basketball is very close to this madness.

    Rio Grande Valley Football Forum There is another, bigger one, but I cannot find it.

    QUOTE(Steff @ Apr 18, 2005 -> 11:55 AM) One other think I wanted to ask.. do you guys down there hire special coaches for football..? Up here (when I was in HS and we went to state) the football coach was the male PE teacher.. Tex.. my one girlfriends daughter is 3 sport (basketball, vollyeball, and track). Is it different for girls down there? Donna, TX high school just suspended a bunch of players for a freshman initiation that involved latex gloves and bending over. The coach tried to cover it up. When the School Board met to discuss firing him (duh), more people where there to voice their support. After all, they made the playoffs last year. :headshake They claimed the School Board was not showing support for the coach :headshake Football coaches are recruited and some of them also teach an abreviated schedule with almost unlimited comp time. As far as three sport athletes, it's the football coaches that drive much of this. They are under intense scrutiny to win games. They are interviewed a couple times a week, and more people can name the HS football coach than the principal. So they never miss an edge. Somehow teaching football year round to the team and supervising voluntary weight sessions, isn't actually practicing.
  4. White Sox Roster Magic Formula But by having Crede we got Crede made about $350,000 last season. Jose about 10X that. This season Crede moves up to $400,000. The money we saved at third got us
  5. QUOTE(DetroitWhat @ Apr 18, 2005 -> 11:43 AM) Well, you beat our butts in terms of the win column. How many years have the Sox finished in front of Detroit now? How many years have both of our seasons ended on the same day?

    Most of the bigger High Schools sell season tickets. The main advantage is being assured of playoff tickets. Anything to keep any visiting teams from packing the stands. Have other states gone to sports specific PE scheduling? For example my son takes Tennis. You can sign up for year round specific sports training in PE. We did everything in the course of the year, here they are recruited into specific classes. And don't even think about being a 3-sport athlete. The football team may share you for one other sport, but almost never two others. Did I mention the whispers of someone living in an apartment rent free so they could play for your public HS team??
  7. Ozzie sure does know how to welcome someone. Wake up Oz. You lost two .300 hitters from last year's opening roster and you want to tick off Frank? If this is some minor league psychology ploy, leave the mind games to a professional. Could Ozzie be the baseball version of Mike Keenan, without the success? OMG! I'm defending Frank's attitude! I would not have been doing that two or three years ago. I've always believed, if Frank's leadership was 1/2 as good as his playing ability, the Sox would have seen more post season play and gone deeper at least one year. But starting last year for certain, he was demonstrated at least the ability to not distract.
  8. QUOTE(BridgeportHeather @ Apr 17, 2005 -> 11:02 PM) So, Jason's is crashing Soxtalk, right? (that joke never gets old) No it doesn't.

    How many regular season games sell out, in advance, in Chicago? Games in our 8,000 seat stadium regularly sell out. The local news will lead with HS Football, ahead of Cowboys, Texans, and any other sports highlights. The local stations will all have cameras at the top half dozen games, the local sports radio station has part time reporters at every area High School game, that's 20-25 games with live updates. McAllen has a population if 125,000 and 3 HS. We aren't nearly as crazy as some of the middle of nowhere towns with small populations. It's crazy fun.
  10. QUOTE(El Piervizdyeguchansodnik @ Apr 18, 2005 -> 10:07 AM) If this is a ploy to make Franks leaving at years end hurt less then I'm not buying it. They got me to not care about Maggs, Carlos, and others, but they are NOT doing that to Big Frank. April 17 is this a new early season record for discussing Frank's attitude? March of 2004, Frank volunteered to move to #4 in the order, to make room for Maggs. Attitude score 100 Now, we hear this again. I have not seen anything from Frank since opening day 2004 that wasn't good. My first thought is Oz wants to stamp his brand on this team so badly, he's willing to trash Frank. I have seen new managers in business try and move out the old employees and bring in "their people". Most of the time I sense uncertainty and a lack of confidence in the new manager's ability to take charge and lead. They see the existing employees as threats. Maybe we are seeing Ozzie's insecurities in all this. Frank played with Oz. Can you imagine Oz delivering a "you have to be able to lay down a sac bunt" and Frank is over there rolling his eyes and mentioning hey Oz, remember when you went 0-4 against Cleveland and twice failed to lay one down? It is not that easy. Even if Frank doesn't say it, Ozzie knows that Frank knows, how Oz really played.
  11. From the Land of 10,000 Lakes and 3-Time AL Central Champs. Remember, no trolling, no personal insults, :begood I think I linked up with a decent site up north. They are small, but have some intelligent posters.
  12. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Apr 18, 2005 -> 07:27 AM) Good luck finding Twins fans... If I cannot read someof their posts and they seem like adults, I'm moving on. No use having to ban trolls.
  13. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Apr 16, 2005 -> 11:02 AM) What the f*** is wrong with the graphics? M
  14. QUOTE(rangercal @ Apr 18, 2005 -> 01:41 AM) Since we have a tiger section already, does this mean we are skipping a twins section? (which is our next series) I've been looking for some nicer Twins fans.
  15. My guess is she was up against the curb and gave it enought gas to walk up the curb. Anyone who has tried to back up over a curb can attest it takes some speed. I was just backing a gooseneck trailer and a 3/4 ton pickup over a curb and was stuck until I pulled forward and popped it over the curb. She may have really floored it, and when mom fell, she may have struck her head.

    I've used both and once you switch it just takes a little while to get comfortable with the new program. I like Norton's One Touch Fix feature and left that on when I switched to Computer Associates Free Virus program from Road Runner. Free is almost always better.
  17. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Apr 17, 2005 -> 10:26 AM) 137 have 1,000 posts QUOTE(SoxFanForever @ Apr 17, 2005 -> 03:43 PM) And Southsider has the rest. It's got everything. Humor and a poke at Southsider, the McDonalds of posters. Over 1 billion served.
  18. Who moves a company to Pittsburgh?? You move away from Pittsburgh. My guess is a nice incentive package brought to you by the tax payers in Pennsylvania. Good luck in the search. Besides networking like crazy, don't forget to post your resume on Monster, Hotjobs, Career Builder, etc. After wading through the crap, I did receive some good leads and offers. But be prepared for a lot of crap offers to work for free.
  19. QUOTE(Soxnbears01 @ Apr 16, 2005 -> 03:29 PM) poor girl. when we were all learning to drive we've all done that. What a tragedy Ahh, I didn't kill my mom learning to drive. I can not imagine the torment this poor girl is going to have to live with. send daughter t driving school.
  20. QUOTE(ChiSoxyGirl @ Apr 15, 2005 -> 11:13 PM) Hellz yeah baby. But man, I couldn't make up statistics this beautiful. Not even in my sweeeeeeeeetest dream.... Did you make certain the experiment was not confounded or biased? What were you working on?
  21. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Apr 17, 2005 -> 09:47 AM) what is the responsibility of mods and adnins? To stop problems before they get out of hand. Increase traffic by starting and moving along threads, keeping the forums looking active by pinning and unpinning topics, getting Jas beer, checking sigs and avatars to avoid questionable or banned content. Probably the most important is to respond to member complaints. That's why I always thought Helen Waite would have been a great screen name for a moderator. We could tell people to go to Helen Waite. It can be tedious when you are reading threads you have no interest in, just to be certain flames haven't erupted.
  22. Thought I would open up a specific place for the upcoming series. I've always liked how Detroit supports the Tigers and any baseball fan that had an opportunity to hear Ernie Harwell call a game was in for a treat. A great Hall of Fame announcer.
  23. I had problems with the proxy last year and I should have received the game. They agreed it was an error and sent me a $15 gift certificate to mlb.com for shopping. I have a nice pair of Sox shorts for the inconvienence.

    First sub 100 minute game in decades. I am waiting for opposing teams to start and ice Mark. I know I'd be taking my sweet time getting to the batters box of I was facing him. I rushed home to catch the game, saw the scrolling update on ESPN and thought why is the Sox name in yellow?
  25. Jon only has 87 pitches. If Oz brings him out, he better be on a very short leash. Like not be bringing the tying run to the plate.
