  1. I'm pulling for a bunch of them, Olivo, Koch, Maggs, Lee, and Alomar. Actually I cannot think of anyone I am pulling against.
  2. His best move was buying Esteban Loaiza low and selling him high.
  3. This probably shines such a spot light on him, he'll have to stay clean. This pair knows the laws better than most now. It also exposes him a little more.
  4. When Carl was in Texas, the team loved him and had a bunch of great things to say about him. All his negative press was during his Red Sox days.
  5. A.J. was not part of that deal and there was no way at the time of the trade for KW to know he could get an upgrade at cacher. IIRC he was touting the skills of one Mr. Davis and discussing how Olivo was part of their 5-year plan. You need to compare each event singularly. The AJ signing was a very good move. The trade is also a good move so far. If Reed is hosting the RotY trophy, as some have predicted, maybe it's a draw or worse. I do know the pitching staff is looking like one of the best in my memory. If we are discussing a before and after KW, then all the trades, drafts, and signings need to be included.
  6. Radke is correct, because baseball enacted that April wins only count for half rule. I'd rather have a May headstart then be making up ground.

  8. QUOTE(Queen Prawn @ Apr 10, 2005 -> 10:10 AM) Don't hide little girl. We know how you combine two loves; Brian and his "muscle car".
  9. QUOTE(winodj @ Apr 10, 2005 -> 09:27 AM) I'm sorry, that square is closed, you'll have to move your queen to the back of the line. And BTW, Kap, there is standard chess notation; you probably meant to write Qe2 The only difference between this and that was the post were slower to be read. Making friends, enjoying a shared interest. It was the precursor to Internet message boards.
  10. Notice all the quotes were Texans, like they are the only conservatives in the world. More media attacks against Texans. :headshake

  12. Happy Birthday
  13. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Apr 9, 2005 -> 05:22 PM) big mistake. How did the guy go from leaving the park yesterday, to being ready today? Radke was probably gonna light him up anyway, Girland's chances just got worse. Need a little pico de gallo with those words
  14. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Apr 10, 2005 -> 09:00 AM) Remember the sweep in May last year IN Minnesota and we were all talking s***? Then the next series against them, was the famous Torii Hunter incident and they swept us in Chicago? This is a good start, but it don't mean s***, fellas. If this were September, we could talk a lot more s***. We HAVE to keep our perspective. It's early, bravo guys, but August and September is when these games in April really mean something. Good Mourning Mr. Kap "Rain on the Fun" oMET of course you are right
  15. When I was playing postal chess, in the pre-internet days, a requirement was to track time. I was surprised how consistent the Post Office was. Rarely did a piece of mail vary by more than one day. I remember a guy I was playing in Sandusky, OH. Every card took exactly 3 days to him. I have never had a piece of mail missing.
  16. QUOTE(Jabroni @ Apr 10, 2005 -> 01:37 AM) They also threw Paulie's homerun ball back. They did the same thing in the first game of the series. They're like friggin' Flubs' fans. Losers. I wish it would happen in every ballpark. One more unique Cub tradition gone.
  17. In the meaningless stat department because it's after one week, The Sox are #5 in MLB in Home Runs this season. Linkage #22 in average #3 in stolen bases
  18. QUOTE(Chisoxrd5 @ Apr 9, 2005 -> 10:00 AM) Mariotti likes it better when all of our teams lose, give him more material... STOP READING HIS GARBAGE!!!!! It's good stuff. Believe it or not, and despite all the World Series Trophy's at the Cell, not everything the Sox and Cubs do is perfect.

Dalay and GOP fighting back More at link. Fight fahr with fahr. The anti-Texas media will be fought back.
  21. Hey, so every packing plant around the world should have the same number as Canada? When there was on outbreak in England, I didn't read Canadian inspectors saying their inspections were lax because they should have the same as England? Didn't the US inspectors find some first and make in public?
  22. QUOTE(Nokona @ Apr 9, 2005 -> 03:10 PM) You're damn right it's going to be front page news, how many Republicans in politics are openly gay? How many are openly hetero? Look at Ryan. To overconpensate, he demonstrated that even if it is with two or three females, it doesn't help with the party.
  23. In defense of the US Postal service it is easily the best on the world and amazingly cheap for everyone. They can load up an airplane for New York to Chicago mail. But imagine that I can mail a letter in Los Fresnos, Texas and send it to Sleeping Bear, Alaska for .37 I'll bet that may be the only letter in the history of the world between those two places. What really saves us is the bulk mailers. When you receive three or four pieces of direct mail, that pays the bills every day, the first class stuff is subsidized, in part, by the business mail.
  24. I see Brandon coming up to replace our 3 or 4 before Garland. This is the certain kiss of death for Garland, but I feel really, really, good about him for 2005. He's going to win 16-18 this season and be our #2. Yet will be pitching #4 in the playoff rotation. Am I getting far enough ahead of myself there
