  1. QUOTE(Beastly @ Mar 17, 2005 -> 06:27 PM) I'd give him a minor league deal. Go ahead and mock me, but vets who used to be good and are "washed up" can come back. Thats all. I agree that route can be effective. In this case, I think someone needs to get to the root of the problem before wasting a top AAA or AA spot on someone who may never reach the MLB roster. I really like Koch. He was a stand up guy when he was here. I really appreciated his attitude and desire.

I wish you had added, don't know. As part of a project a number of years ago, I asked people their blood types, and 3 out of 4 had no idea, or their answers did not make sense.
  3. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Mar 18, 2005 -> 10:33 PM) Capybara. No joke, in lots of Central and South America, capybara is a huge Lenten Friday dietary staple. Because it is aquatic, locals conveniently think of it as a fish (albeit a hairy, 4-legged, distinctly rodent-like fish), and figure that's good enough for a few fridays every year. Amazing God hasn't caught on to all these religious loopholes people keep coming up with. Isn't that called nutria here in the US? A beaver like thing that chews saplings, has a nice pelt, and Mmmmm good to eat? Article here re: Eating Out Efforts by LA to get you to eat a rat
  4. tacos, burritos, enchiladas, all made with beans. Various stir fry meals. Pastas with Alfredo, marinara, etc. Shrimp. Chili, Yada yada yada, I told you about the bisque? Remember you really can tuna fish. To make it easy, visit the box meals and pick up a Lipton rice side dish, then visit the tuna fish aisle. Mix them together. This is a huge favorite while backpacking.
  5. QUOTE(winodj @ Mar 18, 2005 -> 03:56 PM) The other one is "Bleh." that's gotta help you get dates
  6. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Mar 18, 2005 -> 01:53 PM) Is the other "Hoosier"? Maybe "Hoosier Daddy"
  7. A tiara? Do the invitations say Queen Prawn on them??
  8. Oh beautiful for smoggy skies, Insecticided grains For strip-mined mountains, majesty Above the asphalt plains. America, America, Man sheds his waste on thee And hides the pines With billboard signs From sea to oily sea! Added: Something from my Senator. Go Texas, screw the Alaskan environment :finger

  10. QUOTE(ChiSoxyGirl @ Mar 16, 2005 -> 10:03 PM) What the f*** is Signal Detection Theory and how is it different from Gaussian manifestation of it? And more importantly: Who the f*** cares? The reason you are having trouble understanding Signal Detection Theory is you have the name wrong. It is Signal Theory Detection (STD). The theory states that every human tosses out signals that they are ready to mate. Unfortunately the nasty ass hoes (male and female) have the strongest signals, and the highest instances of nasty diseases. Those ready to settle down into long lasting relationships also possess a strong signal. All is all remember STD=NoWay Gaussian or the modern English spelling Gassian, is the process in which males utilize their biochemical methane generator to chase away females with high STD. Who the f*** cares? Drunks, skanky ass hoes (male and female)
  11. This may be the first time that Frank is the media darling and Sosa the asshole. I hope they ask about 2000 AL MVP to Selig, and the rest of the knuckleheads. Proud day for WS baseball
  12. Anti-Bush?? Learn some history. This fight has been going on for a long time.
  13. This will also be the most expensive oil ever. Conservative estimates place the price at over $65/barrel in today's money. At least that what Texas oil men have been saying. The remoteness, the weather conditions, etc. all work against this area. There are many reasons why this is the last area in the US opened to exploration and exploitation.
  14. QUOTE(TheBigHurt35 @ Mar 16, 2005 -> 05:36 PM) Right f***ing back at you. Let's show some class, eh? :rolly Why shouldn't people protest offshore oil drilling? Can they not petition Congress to ban it? Conservatives are still protesting Roe v. Wade, 30-some years after the court decision. But liberals won't protest offshore oil drilling because they're more concerned about taking a swipe at Bush than anything else. That seems obvious to me. Some GOP members crossed over, was it to take a swipe at Bush, or was it to protect our wilderness? Environmentalists have been protesting any attempts to open that area up for drilling. Clinton was pro-Environment and this wasn't an issue, it was never brought up for a vote. It wasn't until the GOP had a majority, that they reintroduced legislation to open this area up for drilling. People are protesting this particular bill. Isn't that the time to protest? When a vote is being made? Most environmentalists also happen to be Dems. A Dem wouldn't propose this bill. It is unfair to say that this is a attack at Bush. Environmentalists would never, under any administration, support this measure.
  15. QUOTE(TheBigHurt35 @ Mar 16, 2005 -> 05:18 PM) An oil spill in a wildlife refuge would be much less environmentally-damaging than one in the Gulf of Mexico, no? So, why are the Dems not speaking out against that? Oh, right, offshore drilling didn't occur under Bush's watch. :rolly Did we start offshore drilling in the past 5 years? Duh. Are you suggesting people should protest something that has been going on for years and years? This is new drilling. This is allowing something that has been banned before. This is a new decision. What a stupid f***ing argument you are making.
  16. QUOTE(TheBigHurt35 @ Mar 16, 2005 -> 05:09 PM) So, if drilling in the middle of nowhere in Alaska is so bad, why is nobody protesting our drilling in the Gulf? There were plenty of protests, and they lost. Just like there were protests against building a nuclear reactor in Zion, Il. And each time, eventually, America's overwhelming desire for batteries for our toys has won out. We are the biggest consumers of resources on the planet. I believe we have a sacred moral obligation to protect our planet for fish, fowl, and animal for ourselves and future generations.

  18. It's just a song, it's just a radio show, it's just a movie, it's just a speech, it's just a thought, it's just a newscast, it's just a picture, it's just what we feed our brains. If it's just fiction, then how would it challenge our beliefs? There are many parables in the Bible. Wouldn't it be illogical to assume a novel couldn't challenge a parable?
  19. Let's see it's Patriotic to lower our dependence on foreign oil and thwarting terrorists. But we can not give up our Hummer's to go to market and lunch :headshake
  20. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Mar 16, 2005 -> 10:35 AM) Your first thought is wrong, frankly. (pun intended) You don't think by the Sox helping out Tellum, that come Frank's contract time, Tellum might be a little more inclined to say "Hey big guy, why don't you take that offer from the Sox" even if it isn't the best one? Tellum knows he can work with this organization, and something like that can help when you are trying to make a decesion between two offers. I think we are misunderstanding each other here. This is the part of your posts I was thinking about. The passage you wrote [by helping out Tellum, he'd be more inclined to say "why don't you take that offer". . . even if it *isn't the best one*.] Why would Tellum make this recommendation? Because Tellum works well with the Sox? It should be because Frank works well for the Sox. I am reading your comment to mean, since the Sox signed Giambi, at some point in Frank's decision making process, Tellum will be thinking "Hey the Sox helped mt out, now I'll help them out." First off it would be a very poor career move for Tellum if he didn't have Frank's interest 100% at all times. Especially if the favor was to help out a steroid using minor leaguer. Second part of the quote. Tellum isn't making the decision between two organizations, Frank is. I do not see Frank giving two hoots about another of Tellum's clients.
  21. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Mar 16, 2005 -> 11:31 AM) Right, wrong or indifferent, it happens. Look around the league and you will see that certian teams have clumps of players from certian agents. Do you really think that is because they went out and asked all 30 teams for the best offer, and it just happened that everytime it was the same team who made the highest bid? And I honestly believe if Frank was a greedy SOB he would have left Chicago a long time ago. There was plenty of more money out there are various times, and I have no doubt that if he is a FA after 2005 someone will offer him more money than the Sox again. I also believe unless the Sox offer is a complete joke, Frank will take it, and Tellum will tell him it is a good idea. It does happen that a great working relationship allows the team and agent to negotiate fair contracts and players cluster. Boras' relationship with the Tigers greatly helped Maggs. If that is your new position, I agree. If you are claiming that Tellum should or would tell Frank to sign for less with the Sox *because* the Sox signed Giambi, I still disagree.
  22. Honestly there were many times on my motorcycle I wish I had one. Since the motorcycle doesn't have the mass of a car, the lights would never change. More than once, when the intersection was clear, running a red light was the only answer. Or the right turn on red, through a parking lot, method.
  23. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Mar 16, 2005 -> 10:46 AM) Oh heck no, but as long as we can get this guy out, I am all for it. I am surprised. As someone in the business world, I figured you'd understand the "its not what you know" part of sports business. I know the system works when people uphold their moral and legal obligations. Tellum cannot be selling one client short to advance another. Yes, this does signal and confirm the excellent working relationship between both parties. If Frank has to question if his agent is looking out for Frank, or paying back a favor to the club, the system doesn't work. Come on SS, you know that's correct. Let's consider this for a moment. IIRC Frank on more than one occasion has expressed frustration with his contracts. Some fans would even go so far as to call him a cry baby and whiner. I wonder what a different agent, and different contracts, would have done for Frank's attitude, and by extension, his performance on the field?
