    Me Too, Me Too

    While my career aspirations are not as lofty as FlaSoxxJim's goal to become a Solid Gold Dancer, I just want to step aside and allow a quality poster to have a chance to wear the mod crown. My luck, he hasn't logged on yet today to accept, or decline, but as soon as he accepts, it will be announced here. I am certain with all this new blood, you ain't seen nothing yet
  2. Way to go, both of you!
  3. Sure was slow today, even for a Monday. Where was everybody?
  4. QUOTE(3E8 @ Jan 31, 2005 -> 04:55 PM) In a related story, MLB has a new steroid policy this year. Bingo. I was wondering the same thing. Moodiness in his earlier years, off season weight loss. I hope it isn't true. I'm really hoping for a season to forget Maggs from Carl.

    Heart disease is scary.
  6. QUOTE(winodj @ Jan 31, 2005 -> 03:01 PM) If they paid, they are active. Apparently, this time around they are talking about hundreds of kids on the rolls named "Doe, John" That would take some explaining.
  7. QUOTE(winodj @ Jan 31, 2005 -> 12:56 PM) I heard something about some controversy the other day regarding the Boy Scouts padding numbers to get more cash from charities like the United Way. Anyone else hear anything like this? This is the second time it has come up. I honestly cannot tell if it is sloppy record keeping by volunteers at the unit level or sinister fraud higher up, or an unavoidable reporting situation. For example, I currently have over 40 boys on the membership list. About 10-15 have not been active for months. When school starts some are playing football, basketball, band, etc. They will stay on my roster until my annual recharter date. Sometimes they return, sometimes they don't. They paid for the year, so they stay on the roster. If an auditor asked me to "pull them out of the backroom" so to speak, I couldn't. Bottom line I have 45 paid Scouts, and 30 "active". Which number should be reported?
  8. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jan 31, 2005 -> 08:48 AM) No doubt about that.... Labatt's 50-50's rule I'd rather have a Moosehead

  12. This should be entertaining, someone tell me why a foreign country is being judged by whether or not they carry Fox News? Y'all are joking right? Are they also in trouble if they don't carry the Food Network and MTV?
  13. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Jan 29, 2005 -> 07:12 PM) This is from a country who, until very recently, allowed Al Jazerra on its airwaves and banned Fox News. f*** them. Fox News "THE Official voice of America"

  15. QUOTE(JimH @ Jan 29, 2005 -> 04:54 PM) Tex, either they're good enough to be a regular or they're not. Not necessarily their fault if they're not. But if someone is brought in to be the #1 guy and you're told you're a reserve, play hard and compete but accept your role. There's a fine line we're talking about here. Doesn't sound like Harris gets it, just my opinion. It is a fine line and it can be drawn in different places depending on the player. Players decline, players improve. The only way a guy will become a starter is if he thinks he should be a starter. If Harris, at his age, accepts that he is #2 to a guy who has never played game 1 in the MLB, then Harris is not a competitor. Harris is not some 35 year old veteran, easing into retirement. He's building his career, and just handing over a starting job without a fight is accepting defeat and not IMHO a winners attitude. And I will repeat, the role of a reserve is to push the starter so everyone gets better.
  16. QUOTE(Athomeboy_2000 @ Jan 29, 2005 -> 02:52 PM) ANy team that gives ANY player a 7 year deal are fools. THere are so many things that can happen in a 7 year stretch (injury, salary cap, decline in production). If I am a team and a client demands a 7 year deal, it is a 4 or 5 year deal with team options for the remaining years of the contract. So you wouldn't want a player wanting to show his loyalty and sign a career type contract?
  17. QUOTE(Man Of Steel @ Jan 29, 2005 -> 03:56 PM) Dolphins... best logo ever... Yes, the terror of flipper . . .
