QUOTE(gotoh00 @ Jan 26, 2005 -> 10:33 PM) Just wanted to say it once By that do you mean he should just accept whatever the club offers?

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jan 27, 2005 -> 01:00 PM) Or at least more agents that will place his players interests ahead of their own... I haven't heard a player complain about what Boras has done for them. He isn't for everyone, and certainly small market, low payroll teams, need not apply. But name another agent with his stable of players. He also does an incredible job of taking the villian role and allowing his players to somewhat be shielded from the uglies. Taking the PR hit is exactly what most agents should be doing and helps to maximize his player's marketability. In this case he's trying to get Maggs a long term deal. How is that not in Maggs best interest? It isn't up to either side to find a "fair deal" they each try for their best and in the balance something fair comes. Everytime you sign a free agent you are the high bidder. Is every free agent an asshole and greedy? Is every agent that fights for every last dollar an asshole? If he's so bad, then why does he have so many top free agents every year?

I could see his logic that the people in the Pentagon were a military target. Retailiation for anything? Certainly he could say the attacks were in retailation for anything inclusing Big Macs giving the world heart attacks, it doesn't make them justified, and it doesn't mean the victims were not innocent. Nice way to get some attention.

The Sox need more agents that will place the team's interests ahead of their clients.

QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Jan 26, 2005 -> 11:48 PM) Haha Maggs is stupid. If he gets an 8 digit figure, he can go to hell, and so can the team that caved, and if that team gives him a multi-year deal, they can go to hell twice. I don't wish ill will on people...but this guy's a true asshole. Thankfully, karma will take care of his ass. Baseball is a business. Remember all the nice things the club said about Sandy Alomar? Then they cut him. Remember the glorious way Fisk was treated at the end of his career? Dumped on a road trip. Are the free agents we just signed ass holes because they went the free agent route and signed with the highest bidder? Grow up and enter the real world.

I would like to thank my parents who allowed me the freedom to listen to all kinds of music. The inventor of the 8-track player who allowed me to listen to 2 1/2 song per track endlessly looping until a lever was hit, and most of all to google.com for finding me the answer.

Pinning on their badge has got to hurt, but I know where they can hang their handcuffs . . .

QUOTE(YASNY @ Jan 27, 2005 -> 02:33 AM) He'll probably wish he had that $17K when he has to pay his divorce attorney. :headshake That's the beauty of it, almost everything he spends now is "half off"

QUOTE(winodj @ Jan 26, 2005 -> 03:51 PM) My friend and I used to blame Don Imus for everything wrong in the world... But lately I have wondered if it hasn't been a conspiracy of elderly Dutch men in wooden shoes... Everybody's Got Something To Hide Except Me And My Monkey

QUOTE(winodj @ Jan 26, 2005 -> 03:52 PM) I remember my local cops. I'd never want to remember them naked. yuck. I have to disagree, there is something about a woman, a gun, and handcuffs that sounds kind of fun . . . in that hold it against me sort of way. :rolly

If you are going to kill yourself, don't involve other people, do not make a mess. If you are the cutter/slasher type, do it in the bathtub. Gas, garage with the engine running and plenty of fuel (Some people underestimate how long it takes and do not start with a full gas tank). No swallowing a gun, it's always messy, ditto on jumping. An overdose would also work nicely. Park your car on train tracks so other people are also killed?? :fyou

I only found part of the letter on line. Remember that ad ultimately would only cost him $8,500 in most states. Depends on if they have kids.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jan 26, 2005 -> 12:39 PM) That would be really cool cause then people could get NBA, MLB, and NFL games on Satellite Radio. Of course they could raise prices due to a lack of competition following the merger. with a larger customer base, the economy of scale kicks in and costs will decrease. This is a boom for the consumer! :rolly

QUOTE(YASNY @ Jan 26, 2005 -> 01:05 PM) Damn liberal teacher! ... Joking! .... I would be all for paying teachers more for their time and even more to get more of our quality individuals to consider teaching as a viable career option. We talk all the time about the importance of education, yet we pay our teachers s***. BUT!!!!! ... I think they should have to earn their money. Tenure should be a thing of the past. Results should translate into salary and job security. Nothing more, nothing less. I agree, now how would you judge results? Standardized tests? Grades? Pass/Fail?

We do need to get away from being such a toss it in the landfill society. I suspect it wuld finally get shoppers to bring their own bags. I noticed that my local "Health Food, Hippy Coop" store has way more people being in their own bags than the mega-shop, processed food grocery and crap store.
