  1. Bummer about the restaurant. Are all of Dikta's closed as well? And didn't someone from the Sting open one about the same time? And Fencik had a bar up on the north side didn't he? Wow, so many at one time, an amazing convergence of celebrity eateries all opening about the same time, would that be a coincidence?
  2. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/columns/stor...phil&id=1975917 Colon, Buerhle get mentioned. Interesting article
  3. QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Feb 1, 2005 -> 02:01 PM) Yeah, he shoulda took the Sox offer. I guess we're not the cheap ones now since we offered him a great offer. So if he stayed healthy, you think he would have gotten less than Beltre at $64/5 years?
  4. QUOTE(EvilJester99 @ Feb 1, 2005 -> 01:05 PM) Certainly he would have gotten that kind of money..esp. if he still switched to Boras. Mags would have gotten a boat load of money. I am wondering if Maggs isn't kicking himself for not taking the Sox offer now. Without a doubt he's kicking himself. I would be shocked if every GM in baseball doesn't have a photo of Maggs on his desk and when some player turnsd down the team's last offer and decided to play out his contract, the GM turns the picture to face the player and says "Good Luck". Bwahahahahaha
  5. It's obvious that Maggs lost his gamble after turning down the Sox' last offer of $60mil for 5 years. I was wondering if he would have won *if* he stayed healthy, and *if* he had another 30/.300/100 season. Beltran got $119 for 7 Beltre signed for $64 million for 5 I have to believe a healthy Maggs would have slipped in between these two in salary and would have done better than the 60/5 last offer.

  8. QUOTE(ChiSoxyGirl @ Jan 31, 2005 -> 08:56 PM) Can anyone make me happier than this man? No, no I think not. *sigh* Thanks guys. Yep, were the great American giggle-os, it's kind of like being a gigolo, only we make you laugh
  9. QUOTE(ChiSoxyGirl @ Jan 31, 2005 -> 08:35 PM) I had a way s***ty day. And then someone said something (it was actually really nice) and I cried. I friggin cried at work. Most awkward/embarressing moment of my life.... Same thing Dubya said the other day . . .

    While my career aspirations are not as lofty as FlaSoxxJim's goal to become a Solid Gold Dancer, I just want to step aside and allow a quality poster to have a chance to wear the mod crown. My luck, he hasn't logged on yet today to accept, or decline, but as soon as he accepts, it will be announced here. I am certain with all this new blood, you ain't seen nothing yet
  11. Way to go, both of you!
  12. Sure was slow today, even for a Monday. Where was everybody?
  13. QUOTE(3E8 @ Jan 31, 2005 -> 04:55 PM) In a related story, MLB has a new steroid policy this year. Bingo. I was wondering the same thing. Moodiness in his earlier years, off season weight loss. I hope it isn't true. I'm really hoping for a season to forget Maggs from Carl.

    Heart disease is scary.
  15. QUOTE(winodj @ Jan 31, 2005 -> 03:01 PM) If they paid, they are active. Apparently, this time around they are talking about hundreds of kids on the rolls named "Doe, John" That would take some explaining.
  16. QUOTE(winodj @ Jan 31, 2005 -> 12:56 PM) I heard something about some controversy the other day regarding the Boy Scouts padding numbers to get more cash from charities like the United Way. Anyone else hear anything like this? This is the second time it has come up. I honestly cannot tell if it is sloppy record keeping by volunteers at the unit level or sinister fraud higher up, or an unavoidable reporting situation. For example, I currently have over 40 boys on the membership list. About 10-15 have not been active for months. When school starts some are playing football, basketball, band, etc. They will stay on my roster until my annual recharter date. Sometimes they return, sometimes they don't. They paid for the year, so they stay on the roster. If an auditor asked me to "pull them out of the backroom" so to speak, I couldn't. Bottom line I have 45 paid Scouts, and 30 "active". Which number should be reported?
  17. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jan 31, 2005 -> 08:48 AM) No doubt about that.... Labatt's 50-50's rule I'd rather have a Moosehead

  21. This should be entertaining, someone tell me why a foreign country is being judged by whether or not they carry Fox News? Y'all are joking right? Are they also in trouble if they don't carry the Food Network and MTV?
  22. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Jan 29, 2005 -> 07:12 PM) This is from a country who, until very recently, allowed Al Jazerra on its airwaves and banned Fox News. f*** them. Fox News "THE Official voice of America"
  23. QUOTE(Man Of Steel @ Jan 29, 2005 -> 05:43 PM) hm nope... still think its the best evar I like the other logo better
