  1. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jan 25, 2005 -> 08:28 AM) Sure the government isn't big enough, lets add more people to muck up the wheels of democracy even more... God no. I was just reading yesterday where they approved top staffer pay up to over $150,000 for staff aids. The VP of the US only makes $180,000. The last thing we need to do is create more of these positions that contribute nothing to the day to day life of people. If you want to bloat the government, at least make it for something that contributes to society. Build roads, hire teachers, shore up social security, hire more cops etc. Don't hire more people to stand around and argue philosophy on my dime. And don't forget we will need billions to spread democracy to countries that don't have it yet.
  2. Good thing all the terrorists are in Iraq, we found all the WMD, and the Iraqi people will kiss our toes for generations
  3. I'm glad they were caught and being punished. I was surprised it was a felony. I assume they will plead out at something less, pay restitution, and get probation. Let's see, if these were young republicans there would probably be more political pressure from the Republican controlled Legislative and Executive branch Seriously, if this wasn't a political deal, would we have the FBI investigating? If it was November 3rd, there would have been a police report taken down and then filed away no matter if the individuals were Dems or GOPers. If they took men off other cases to rush this, they would have been accused of having their priorities out of place.
  4. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jan 24, 2005 -> 09:09 PM) Geesh, the least you guys could do is get my info right... Its Southsider2k5 And its 38.6 posts per day Damn, at least get your own name right. it's southsider2k5 the S is not capitalized this year.
  5. QUOTE(winodj @ Jan 24, 2005 -> 08:05 PM) Or maybe they just have a life and don't need to post 20 times a day like Southsider, Tex, or lately, me. Ahem, excuse me, do I know you two

    Coffee Makers

QUOTE(Queen Prawn @ Jan 24, 2005 -> 12:00 PM) :finger (thanks for the laugh though) I am in mourning right now. The guy in the plant that I directly work with is leaving. He is the only one down there that can have something explained to him without having to go through a whole diatribe. I am glad he is getting an opportunity at "bigger and better," but our company is going to suffer severely from his loss. what did he do?
  9. Welcome. Did you not like the format, the people, or get chased away by an overzealous admin?

QUOTE(Queen Prawn @ Jan 24, 2005 -> 11:55 AM) I've had it for a year and a half and no problems so far (crossing fingers lol). I hate tech support. Oops I mean thanks, but could I speak to the man of the house? I kid, because I care®* *Used by permission of FlaSoxxJim

    Coffee Makers

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jan 24, 2005 -> 11:50 AM) It has more to do with the COFFEE that you use rather then the machine you make it in. Buy the coffee from the place you like, make it at home, you'll get the same thing. If you buy crappy coffee and have the girl at Starbucks make it for you in their machine, it's still gonna taste like crappy coffee. [pretentious=voice] Sir, that "girl" is a barista, highly skilled, and highly trained to make you, your perfect drink.[pretentious=off] I love grabbing a cup at Starbucks, turning on my laptop and getting some stuff done. I could do with out the grande attitude, it's a small, medium, or large. They are starting to get use to me. And yes, leave some room for cream.

    Coffee Makers

QUOTE(Queen Prawn @ Jan 24, 2005 -> 11:23 AM) I love mine! Hamilton Beach 12 cup coffee maker - best one I have ever owned. My coffee pot I would have put a picture here, but I can't attach it any way I try. Thats the one I am planning on getting. Some reviews claim it leaks from the dispensing seal and the electronic clocks shorts easily with all the condensation that runs down the back.

QUOTE(LowerCaseRepublican @ Jan 24, 2005 -> 11:04 AM) Tea is where its at...throw a cup of water in the microwave, put a teabag in and whammo -- instant crazy caffeine high to wake you up in the morning. is that what your avatar is on??

    Coffee Makers

QUOTE(mreye @ Jan 24, 2005 -> 10:40 AM) You're supposed to empty what was left over from the day before! Duh! :finger What happens is the water backs up in the filter basket and overflows everything. Then I come here and am nasty to people. I may even throw a couple cups of water and ice on someone I meet.

I'm seriously considering This one. Target $49.99 WalMart $33.00 Hmmm, I wonder where to buy it?
  16. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jan 24, 2005 -> 10:29 AM) Gooch. that's going to be a verb, as in, he gooched second. Runners on second and third and still nobody out. His real name sounds like a nickname so let's give him a real name. May I suggest Ted Jones?
  17. QUOTE(S720 @ Jan 24, 2005 -> 09:52 AM) Where the hell are Bruce Levine and George Offman???? Come one and make the news official!!! I'd rather hear it from Kenny or JR or Southsider, because if Southsider says it, it must be true
  18. Another runner on the base paths. With Pods, Tad, and Konerko, burning up the paths, it's going to be a whole different look around the ballpark. I feel bad for the fireworks vendor, their orders may be cut in half next season.
  19. Is it too late to pick? It's Monday morning, I'm picking Pittriots

    Coffee Makers

I hate coffee pots. I just replaced my old one because the brew hold, pour and go, whatever function would fail and water, coffee, and grounds would spill all over my counter. The new one, a different design and manufacturer, is doing the same &^$$*( thing. Who loves their coffee maker? What brand, model?
  21. QUOTE(The Critic @ Jan 23, 2005 -> 11:10 PM) Oh PLEASE.... 17 snowflakes and your entire state shuts down..... :headshake Yes, sir and damn proud of it. Our first White Christmas in recorded history and out local paper produced an eight page special section with photos and weather service screen shots. 104 degrees, and your state opens up shelters.
  22. From the Tigers-White Sox Fight thread and the repeated pleas for someone to have the video, came 3E8 to the rescue QUOTE(3E8 @ Jan 23, 2005 -> 09:48 PM) I wasn't able to find any video of the fight, but I did manage to find some still footage.
  23. QUOTE(3E8 @ Jan 23, 2005 -> 09:48 PM) I wasn't able to find any video of the fight, but I did manage to find some still footage.
  24. QUOTE(YASNY @ Jan 24, 2005 -> 06:49 AM) Let's see here ... The US keeps falling farther and farther behind European and Asian nations in quality of education and our students feel they're entitled to a homework free summer. This is more of an indictment of our national priorities than it is a slap at you guys. That's all you guys know. It's not your fault. One day, our failure to get, and expect, the maximum performance from our youth is going to come back to haunt us. YASNY, I agree with the summer reading program stuff, but the science, math, and other subjects I have a problem with. If the program is going to really work, the teachers have to be available as well. Whether it is once a week, via email, via phone, or whatever, the rest of the puzzle needs to be there as well.
