Streaker Poll?
- Naperville streaker returns for 3rd time
QUOTE(mreye @ Jan 26, 2005 -> 09:52 AM) I can't help but think of Ray Stevens' "The Streak." LOL- Comparing the 2005 team
That's a great comparison. I believe consistency is going to be the defining factor in this season. What you pay for when you hire a superstar is consistency. By the season end you know A-Rods going to hit .300. Year to year will be pretty much consistent. The second tier has flashes of greatness, followed by periods of mediocrity. Just like our power was inconsistent, speed on the basepaths is inconsistent if the players aren't getting on base.- 36 US troops die in Iraq
QUOTE(mreye @ Jan 26, 2005 -> 09:15 AM) I heard this on the radio this morning. Prayers to their familes and all those who have lost. Add mine. How much is it worth to the US to have Democracy in Iraq? $100,000,000,000 and 10,000 dead? What price is too much?- Japanese Baseball
I know the level of play is very good, I think the best description in AAAA level. I'm wondering about the other issues that effect North American baseball like steroid use, big $$$$ vs. small $ teams, and that sort of thing that may determine the intangibles in switching.- Man discovered alive in morgue
I was reading the Thread title "Man discovered alive in morgue" and thinking, aren't all the workers alive?- Florida loses Schiavo appeal
QUOTE(Steff @ Jan 26, 2005 -> 09:18 AM) Me. And when I make that decision I expect it to be followed. Most people don't put it in writing unfortunately.- Florida loses Schiavo appeal
On one hand a husband who stand to inherit the money and is free to marry his girlfriend without losing his status as guardian? On the other, parents who conceived and raised her. Who do you want making the decision regarding your life?- You puff.. yer out!
QUOTE(mreye @ Jan 26, 2005 -> 09:02 AM) I don't know about this. Couldn't they refuse health coverage? This gets to probable cause. If they are not costing the company any additional money. No extra sick days, not taking longer breaks, etc. they shouldn't be asked to take any test after they are hired.- Man discovered alive in morgue
OMG That's a nightmare scenario. he survives and meets the guy that zipped the bag.- This one is in for a rude awakening in a few years
QUOTE(mreye @ Jan 26, 2005 -> 09:01 AM) I would teach them how to make change without a cash register. Frickin' morons! That would be a good thing.- Interesting Point
QUOTE(mreye @ Jan 26, 2005 -> 08:46 AM) Don't speak too quickly. Some people don't buy lottery tickets until it gets over $200 Mil. I assume if you are the one to collect the reward, you basically are getting the money for your survivors, if any.- This one is in for a rude awakening in a few years
QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jan 26, 2005 -> 08:48 AM) After grade school, the school year should be year round, with 2 weeks vacation. Get them ready for the real world. We see a lot of recent College grads and all they do is b**** and moan about work and staying late or putting in Saturdays. How would we pay for year round school? In Texas, when it's 104 outside, do you expect the schools to just open windows? Would you ask teachers to work the additional time without an increase in pay? Would each grade level last one year? With an extra 2-3 months per year, we would add 24-36 months of instruction, what else would you teach in the extra 2 1/2 to 3 1/3 "traditional school years" of instruction? Instead of the current 12 years of education, the equivelent would be 15 to 16 years of instruction.- This one is in for a rude awakening in a few years
QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Jan 25, 2005 -> 04:54 PM) All egotistical individualists please leave. I sick & tired of hearing this crap. You are nothing but a burden to the system. You are nothing but a burden to the tax payers. If you do not believe in democracy go to Europe or better yet to China. Democracy means majority rule. The school board represents the majority in that district. You as an individual have a right to be heard by the school district. That is where your power & influence ends. The only way this crap is going to end is if national & state congresses pass nuisance laws that costs these egotists $ when they place a burden on the courts with their frivolous suits. These same congresses should decide what constitutes a frivolous suit. There are laws on the books to address frivolous suits and attorneys can face disciplinary actions for bringing suits without merit. We have an extensive legal system because we have so many rights that need protection. Plus, there are checks and balances throughout our legal and judicial system. For example if a school board's policies are illegal, the courts are the place to go, not Europe. I would be surprised if this didn't start with the School itself and move up from there. If all suits could be decided on their merits before trial, we wouldn't need courts, attorneys, and judges. Putting a system of punishments in place to penalize the losing side goes against our freedoms and impedes justice, not enhances.- PA Sex Offenders List Online Now
QUOTE(CrimsonWeltall @ Jan 25, 2005 -> 08:38 PM) If we're going to have sex offender lists like this, shouldn't we have murderer, armed robber, assault lists too? It's partially the rehabilitation angle. Many experts will line up and say that sex is a basic instinct and no amount of therapy, or time in prison, is going to alter their sexual blueprint. Statistically, research has shown that a murderer is less likely to commit a new crime than a sex offender. Which circles back to my question, if they are still a threat, why do we let them out? And if they are believed to not be a threat, why publish their names for ever?- SUPERBOWL POLL
I find the Pats a whole lot more likable for some reason.- Happy Birthday Arne Harris
QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jan 26, 2005 -> 08:10 AM) I have no idea if he even reads here anymore, but he was one of the funniest guys of the old group that hung out on the ESPN boards. Whereever you are Arne, here's to you I wasn't certain if you meant THE Arne Harris or the poster Happy Birthday!- National Compliment Day
QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jan 26, 2005 -> 08:09 AM) So how about we play along and compliment the person above us? I'll even start. Mreye an absolutely devoted family man, and a cool guy to have a beer with. In flag football, I am certain Southsider ran a great post pattern I admire SS2k5's world view and ability to look at issues in a variety of ways.- Question about doing taxes?
QUOTE(valponick @ Jan 26, 2005 -> 07:30 AM) I went ahead and took it out since it bothers you so much. If you knew anything about the site you would know that it is not spam, it is really cool site that has thousands of members who play online poker. I read quite a few threads on this board about poker so I just threw it in the sig rather than start a fresh topic about it (which would constitute spam) so quit being such a f***ing baby. It's a link, if you don't want to click on it then don't, but either way you can probably find more important things you can cry about. As FlaSoxxJim mentioned, this was the first commercial banner/sig used, and we needed some time to see what makes sense for soxtalk and the members. At least from a moderator standpoint, it wasn't personal or motivated by anything else but a desire to review commercial sigs and ward off any potential issues before they happen.- Catch-All Anything Thread
QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Jan 26, 2005 -> 07:34 AM) Well if that is a viable option I take back my harsh words about the administration. I know a lot of schools only let you apply CC/JC course hours in your first two years though, so if this is a degree requirement with several prerequisites and they had that rule it would still be hard to make it work. It's a sophomore level stats class. I went ahead and took the Senior level Research Methods class anyways and did fine, thanks to a helpful friend on the Internet who helped me with my stats computation. The Professor knew I was struggling with just that part and asked me how I managed to finish. I showed him my manual computations and my very nice looking stats package generated backup and he smiled and mentioned how he loved older students who network and do things like grownups instead of sitting paralyzed and whining- Catch-All Anything Thread
QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Jan 26, 2005 -> 07:22 AM) Making the people who run the dapartment a bunch of asswipes. If they agree to take on part-time students with day jobs, families, etc., that is a heck of a place to drop the ball. They did mention the local Community College offered the same course, using the same textbook, with a Dr. as professor. I think if they had their choice, they would sub all the prerequisite stuff to the Community College.- Doctor's orders: Don't play T.O.
He's probably thinking hero time. Limp out, catch a pass, emotional lift, and sit out the rest of the 2nd and 3rd.- Another Columnist Paid to Promote

QUOTE(Man Of Steel @ Jan 25, 2005 -> 10:43 PM) haha didnt even expect you to use it, i made it at school in the library.. MOS, I like that one. It stands out in the crowd and funny as hell.- High Court Defers on 'Choose Life' Plates
These plates are a state sponsored fund raiser for some groups. I reject the linking of the causes in determining which groups have the opportunity to participate in this program. Set the standards fairly and without bias, and whichever groups meet the criteria are allowed to participate. If the pro wants to participate and the anti doesn't, so be it. The pro shouldn't be held out because of the anti's decision. If the Anti group conforms to all the requirements, and the pro group cannot, again one shouldn't be linked to the other. - Naperville streaker returns for 3rd time
