I guess it was time for Carlos to move on
The one thing that always fixes these attitude questions, this team chemistry, is winning something. Amazing how winning teams always have "chemistry" and "attitude". Win something and all that s*** happens.

Stats help re: pods
One thing not mentioned about "small ball players" they are cheaper than power hitters. In the long run, that may be better for a 2nd team in a large market budget.

I guess it was time for Carlos to move on
writing a story that is pro management would be a bad career move? The better stories aren't from the players "I just went out and played hard. Thank God for my talents" The stories that get noticed are the scoops on trades, mid season moves and the kind of stuff you get from access to OZ, KW, JR, etc.

Mariotti would have been vilified and the article dismissed as crap. But articles like this is what gets a pat on the head from the team and access later to better stories. Better journalists are able to ignore whatever insider tips they are getting and confirm and really check out the veracity of the information.

Lee for SPod, Vizcaino, and PTBNL
I am certain I've missed some nuggets of gold while skipping past many posts in search of the guys and gals here whose opinions have been well researched and written. I probably ignore half the posters at this point.

I am glad you didn't drag the Mods into that rumble . . .

SPod moving on?
I agree with your analysis of the pitching, but then someone needs to fill the Lee, Maggs, Valentin holes. And we would be almost out of fill.

Stats help re: pods
Is there an easy way to add in his stolen base numbers, subtract out any hits where he was caught stealing, and xome up with a new slugging percentage? I'm not certain if it would be usefull or not, but it seems like his total bases may be worth looking at. It seems as if a single is as good as a double many times.

Why isn't anyone calling him Podzilla!?!??!
Because that would be lame and way to easy? Maybe if he had some power.

Blockbuster doing away with late fees

But his quality may balance it all out.

SPod moving on?
He could be the first player in franchise history to have the fans pissed when he came and pissed he left, and never play a single inning in a Sox uniform. I am promising myself to judge all trades at once, when the team leaves Spring Training. Until then, it is all a process.

What to do Next???
Genius. And KW gets paid to think up the same s*** we all know. I would also be saying a prayer to whatever God you worship that Thomas is back quickly and 100%.

Last Supper Beer
Coors lite, because I'd want to die after that For nostalgia sakes maybe an Old Style (first beer) a Miller High Life (usual college choice and still the "everyday" bar beer) or a Shiner Boch. Since I would be having a pork roast some sort of a Wheat beer may be in order. Tough call.

Jas, congrats on the rare triple post! Spammer

Ozzieball
I think all this small ball talk is JR's desire to cut the fireworks budget

Rate the Trade
Yes sir, I have to agree with that. It also struck me as I was driving this morning regarding the "quality" and ability of Pods v. Lee; if I was drowning, I would gladly trade my Suburban for a leaky old row boat. I've said several times that lead off has been a consistent problem. Perhaps a B- lead off hitter is better for this team than a B+ middle of the order guy.

Lee for SPod, Vizcaino, and PTBNL
My thinking had been Lee has the best chance of putting up Magg-like numbers. If we could replace Lee's numbers, which is easier than Maggs, we would be even. Now I see an offense taking a couple steps back. But it is only December and I truly believe you have to judge the off season in it's entirety, not trade by trade, release by release, FA signing by FA signing. When the team leaves spring training we can fully evaluate all the trades. If we leave with a third place team, a prayer, and a few million in the bank, no one will be braving those cold early season games.

Lee for SPod, Vizcaino, and PTBNL
If we got an impact player as the PTBNL, we won this trade big time. More likely a mid level journeyman type.

Lee for SPod, Vizcaino, and PTBNL
Oh ouch, that hurts. I have no cash. boo hoo. LMAO at such a moron. Perhaps I should explain. I forget we have little kids on the site. Steinbrenner doesn't have a pile of cash because he traded great players and kept freeing money until he had $$$$ to spend. Attendance, royalties, and other revenue streams, including an owner with deep pockets, can get you the cash. Cash in the bank does nothing to help the team win now. I agree that waiting to judge until the trade is finalized, with all players involved, is the only fair thing to do.

Life or Death?
I judged him guilty as soon as she went missing. I said go find the husband and lock him up. Having admitted that, I too am shocked that they felt confident enough to also recommend the death penalty. I will be very surprised if the Judge agrees. Of course if he does, he'll be an activist Judge, and marked as a liberal weak kneed jurist.
