  1. And doesn't county line road bottom out at a curve at some point? Maybe it's not the same one I'm thinking but one year the Midnight Run for the orphanage in Des Plaines went down that way and we had a mini traffic jam with 12,000 motorcycles trying to get around the corner.
  2. Ozzie will know how to handle him I'm wth you. Anyone with his numbers that can get tossed off a team in the final week of the season trying to get into the playoffs, isn't anyone I'd want on my roster.
  3. By the way the bullet proof vests are a prime example. The Democrates wanted to actually pay for the vests, instead of borrowing money. They wanted to reduce the tax cuts to pay for the vests. What an amazing concept, trying to balance the budget instead of going further into debt. Once the GOP embraced debt as a campaign tool, they lost their cornerstone. So if you want to criticize the Dems and Kerry about vests, at least have all the facts. The Dems offered a bill that would have supplied the same number of vests, only they would have been paid for with cuts in the tax cuts. Bush felt a deficit was necessary to keep the economy from slumping. I believe Bush deserves kudos for his handling of the post 9/11 economy and would not argue if you said Bush's plan was better than the Dem plan to provide bullet proof vests, but to say that the Dems and Kerry voted against the vests is wrong and misleading.
  4. And I cannot believe how many people will ride as a passenger without a helmet, glasses, long pants, closed toe shoes, etc. When I see some young girl (it almost always is a young girl) is a halter top, shorts, and flip flops, I want to pull the guy over, chew him out and then give the girl a long lecture. If the driver doesn't care enough about your safety to make certain you have long pants, sleeves, glasses, and decent shoes, how do you know he isn't going to be doing 100 and poping wheelies? Hell even the most hard core Harley rider will put on shoes and long pants.
  5. We just have to look past statements like he voted against this expense and find out what else was on the bill or why. I remember Dole getting slammed for voting against some military project, it turned out he wanted to fund it at a higher level and he and several other people voted against the version that left committee, hoping to get more money.
  6. We had a similar policy, except we were paying for the cell phones. Nothing aggravated the sales manager more than seeing his salespeople dialing on their cell phones when they had a desk phone 2 feet away. But I was polite when I chatted about it later.
  7. The GOP likes to fool people into believing that every appropriation bill just has one line item. In fact there are many line items and issues and both parties use this to get other stuff passed. Since appropraition bills must be passed without changes, there is no way to vote yes for bullet proof vests and no to the "riders". It is an even bigger problem for the President. He does not have "line item veto" to pass the stuff he agrees with and stop the other stuff. Many state governors have this authority, and IMHO the President should also. Currently if the majority party wants to fund something that is ideologically against the other party, say abortions for teenagers, all they have to do is wrap it in something necessary like bulletproof vests. It's a no win for the minority. They are either for something they do not want to be (abortion for example) or against something they are for (bullet proof vests). Just claiming someone voted against this one thing or not is unfair to both parties. You must know everything that was on the bill. It is also a nice technique for the majority party to float these bills, knowing in their current condition they will not be passed, then use it for campaign fodder during the next election cycle. Both sides do it and IMHO it is unfair and intelligent voters should not allow the Dems and Gopers to get away with it.
  8. Back in the late 70s early 80s the Faces of Death series was very popular. This sort of depravity isn't new or unique. Anyone care to go to the coluseum and watch them feed Christians to the lions? It's a double feature, there will be gladiator fights afterwards.

    Choices

Sticking with Rumsfeld and his CIA director was more of a problem. Cheney was a toss up. Rudy or John would have given him a huge boost if orchestrated properly. But then again I always thought if Bush the elder had dumped DQ, we never would have heard of Monica Lewinsky.
  10. So far most of the talk on how to improve the Sox during the off season involve creating one hole (trading Lee or Kong) to fill another. Anyone see a scenario where we actually upgrade a position without slipping back in another? Frank coming back healthy is the only only that seems assured.
  11. BTW, how do you think all the media gets together to decide this stuff? Why hasn't the GOP been able to infiltrate this evil monopoly set out to destroy them?
  12. If they jump on the story and it's false they lose, if they wait until it's verified, they lose. Nothing journalists do is right by the GOP. The Grand Old Party wants to be free of criticism and have the American public just listen to their cheerleaders. Enjoy the GOP Broadcasting System. It's like valium for the truth.
  13. I gladly worked 60 hour weeks for that guy. The company I went to was just as wonderful until they were bought out and I blindly took a transfer to career hell. My contract only helped a little when the corporate guys at the new company decided my location wasn't strategic anymore. Then stupid me actually went back to work for them under a new underfunded regime.
  14. My favorite memory of quiting a job was about 10 years ago. I wasn't certain if I should leave or not. The owner traeted me really well. A couple years earlier he had fired his partner and moved me into that office. But the job had gotten stale and the company was having a hard time compeating as an independent with all our competitors being gobbled up by bigger and bigger companies. As I was nearing the office , and with a very nice offer in one pocket I flipped on the radio and heard the voice of God, well actually it was Joe Cocker Man, I love that song Easily the best company, job, boss, co workers, live style I ever quit. Damn corporations taking over an industry and destoying the mom and pop operations.
  15. Which Drudge story are you talking about? The Kerry or the Clinton? Matt was right on Clinton wrong on Kerry. I was wondering which one you are talking about.
  16. Or is it the Kerry intern story that Drudge ran and then was forced to retract because it was false?
  17. Suckiest? Could be County Seat when I was in HS. The manager pissed me off one night and I walked out. Helping companies source products and services offshore was a mental drain and caused some inner conflict. That may have been the worse.
  18. Ahhh, now I get it. American Express finally emailed. Along with Edwards and a couple others. I love job searches. I've retooled my resume twelve different ways. I'm almost regretting closing my last deal.
  19. Usually it is a newbie rider, perhaps a little alchohol, and some testasterone laden friends. :headshake They think the bike, helmet, and riding leathers makes them the next Steve Wise.
  20. Let me try again Soxtalk Administrator is your job, isn't it?
  21. We are the kings of the offseason!! Each year we have gone into Spring Training #1 How can you not love that?? It's the regular season we suck at.
