According to an up to the minute report, the craft briefly entered space. Making it the first private ship to reach space.

0 for two months and you kept pace with me.

Represent? No. Influences? Yes. You are correct, there are a hell of a lot more people that care what Bonds says. Witness all the people who are talking about his comments. With popularity, credibility, power, or influence, comes responsibility. Dr. King was not an elected representitive. Do you think he just shot out whatever he felt like saying? That would diminish his message. Nadar hasn't been elected to anything, yet his words have impact. There are many examples of people who have influence without direct power. I'm not agreeing with or disagreeing with what Bonds said. I am only making the point that professional ballplayers are ambassadors for their teams and their cities. That may not be constitutional, it may not be correct, but that's reality. People listen when they speak. They need to weigh their words and be mindful of the consequences. When Bonds can say something and someone cares as much as when Steff or Texsox tells somebody, than it's the same. Until then he's a public figure and needs to accept that responsibility.
-
Why should Bond care? Because he is in a position to help change. His words will be listened to and analysed from both sides, something that others cannot say. Would you agree that Mayor Daley or President Bush have to be more guarded in what they say?
-
With freedom if speech comes responsibility. That responsibility changes based on your position in the community. Bonds needs to weigh his comments based on the stage they are broadcast from.

I'm afraid you are correct. I was also thinking about how happy the Marlin's fans were in getting Koch. We would be happy with the starter equivelent of Koch at this point.

As I was updating the PTC winners and looking over the YNOT standings I realize some active posters here do not play. The more the merrier. I just thought I would send a little direction that way. Also, why is it that only a few people seem to start most of the topics? Do not be shy, fire up a couple topics, let's keep the site moving and fresh.

Up up and away Maybe now we can once and for all disprove the whole earth is round thing that the government has been selling us

Sounds like Kerry is putting his money where his mouth is. It is looking to eliminate benefits that he receives. Takes away the old GOP cliche of the poor taking from the rich. This would be the rich taking away from the rich.

It is nice to know that the platform has such a small user base that hackers and virus writers won't bother with it. Worry when more people decide to buy a Mac and someone decided to write the first Mac Attack.

Can you add Leon Durham looking between his legs

Which is why I think it is good bringing up Rauch well before a start. Let him get comfortable, meet the teammates, and feel like he's a part of the team, not some temp worker from Kelly.
-
Here's a thought. Why not bring up the next candidate a few days early, let him get comfortable with his surroundings, with his teamates? Maybe KW, OZ, Coop, think that will help Rauch.

Make sure to add a firewall and protect the network. I have a couple laptops on my network. I have an all brick home and can work outside so I am certain shooting upstairs would be fine. For the record my connection is via a cablemodem with a Linksys router. I went with the 802.11b It was very easy to set up and works like a charm.

The league knows we are in trouble for a 5th starter. Any other GM is going to hold out just a little longer if KW comes a calling. Is it better for us to overpay with dollars, perhaps picking up more of someone's contract or picking up an overpriced player, or including too much potential in a minor leaguer?
-
It can only get worse. I'm waiting for the webcam that will monitor the prisoner 24/7.
-
But thankfully we aren't paying Colon. That would really suck. Non of these guys would have had a chance to be big league pitchers for the day.
-
This may be the best spot we've put a 5th starter into. He's on close to his regular schedule, he's pitching in a hockey town, we're coming off a win, and he doesn't have to worry about the closer.
-
I hope he comes around for y'all. His fastball was flatter than the pan handle. I believe in two seasons he had one 1-2-3 safe for us. It was certainly less than 5. Great with the fans and media. He'll sign autographs until his arm falls off, hey maybe that was the problem. BTW his nickname here is Billy Botch :fyou

Ozzie get's his man. One of the things I thought of when the trade was announced was how well did Oz know the minor league system. Being a middle infielder, I assumed Oz kknew the guy and liked him.

Not to anyone in particular, when you say a player is "worth" a percentage of a payroll, does that mean 10% of the Expos, Cubs, and/or Yankees? That would indicate we are no longer looking at total dollars. A "10% guy" would be worth what $4 mil to the Expos, $8.5 mil to the Cubs, and $20 mil to the Yankees. It seems like we are mixing to different things. If a player is deserving of a $40/5 contract, that means the Expos would have to gulp hard make him a starter, and sign the check if the want him, and the Yankmees could have the guy riding the pine. From the player persepective, should he value a $5 mil per year offer from the Expos as better than a $10 mil per year offer from the Yankees because it's a higher percentage of their payroll? I believe the debate should be in two steps. 1. The player is worth X dollars over X years. 2. Should team Y invest that much of their payroll in that player? To start at what percentage is someone worth, look that his current teams payroll, and then determine a dollar amount is crazy.

It's funny how you guys suck!
