  1. After reading through the thread I'm imaging a meeting of Sox outfielders with Tony. It looks like a nursing home with Luis Robert the grandkid who comes to visit. Tony has Wheel of Fortune on the TV with the volume too high. Walkers, canes, and crutches everywhere. Nurses are arguing whose turn it is to change the bandages.
  2. Basically it won't get better. He's at home with a feeding tube with lots of friends coming around.
  3. That's gonna help him get on the field. Teams want players willing to sue the folks that give them free publicity.
  4. It reminds me of how Frank did his contracts. One on one and done.
  5. I'd like to see it too. I think everyone in the Sox front office would like to see it. I think all Sox fans would like to see it. It would be the greatest one sided trade in Sox history. Even JR would like to see it. TLR would need a DD to help him celebrate.
  6. It's behind a paywall or I would link it. I just read about Steve McMichael's battle with ALS in The Athletic. Sad story. He was one of my favorites from that era.
  7. But not drink and drive.
  8. Testing a point about the perceived negativity on the boards. How many posts do we have trying to fix problems, upgrade, etc at RF and 2nd? Hundreds? Now let's take two more positions, SS and CF. How many posts will this go? A dozen? There just isn't any fuel. But damn it's fun watching those guys. They make me glad to be a Sox fan. All that needs to happen is pencil them in everyday and keep them healthy. I don't think we're really that negative. Looking up and down the lineup there just isn't much that needs to be done at most positions so we look at the problem areas because that's where something could be done.
  9. No. I think it's more that the majority of fans who aren't involved to the point of posting on message boards focus on the positives in the line up. The rest of us need something to talk about and discussing how solid the team is at most positions didn't sustain itself. So we keep trying to find solutions to the problems. Seriously, how long would a discussion go discussing our SS or CF situation?
  10. My buddy who played in the Mets organization, runs a baseball academy, and happens to be a Cub fan was shocked that all Sox fans aren't excited about this team. I'm glad to see a 60-40 split in favor of advancing.
  11. In the good old days when the regular season mattered they didn't play at night.
  12. The family and friends I talk to who don't post here are all fired up and would probably send in deposits for WS tickets today. They don't seem to care about lack of SP depth, RF, 2nd, etc.
  13. I think we would all agree that both are valid indicators. Just beating the poor teams is nice and gets you a pile of wins, but beating good and great teams makes you a great team.
  14. It was a request from Cali in another thread. With all the negativity surrounding the off season and no upgrades or hole filters I'm thinking the majority will say no. But we're fans so maybe I'm wrong.
  15. Will this roster win a playoff series?
  16. I believe by definition a top 5 team would win a playoff series. I'm with SS, most here (greater than 50% but less than 100%) do not think this team is capable of advancing in the playoffs without bolstering RF, 2nd, and SP.
  17. I agree. I'm also sold. I'm so much closer to Houston. I could catch a few games each summer. See my daughter and her family. I may have a new team.
  18. Actually I think we would agree that both are important and necessary.
  19. Sell pitchers and buy OF prospects. Seems like an easy decision.
  20. With all do respect, sea gulls are flying rats. They are loud, obnoxious, and crap anywhere. If Lee Elia was an ornithologist he'd rant about them.
  21. Lol. I was thinking the same thing.
  22. Yep, two options. He becomes a high school PE coach or finally becomes a MLB player. Trading pitching prospects for OF prospects is a solid strategy. I wouldn't mind seeing a couple more corner outfielders being traded for in MiLB deals.
  23. Let's all do some hip stretches to honor him.
