It makes sense for rural voters to vote with their pocketbook. They don't need, want, or receive government help. They also don't need interference from the government. That fiercely independent streak fits in better with the GOP.

I have always lived in solidly blue areas of the state but I knew state wide it didn't matter. If feels great to think my candidates have a chance.
Texas is in play because of Dell, Tesla, Texas Instruments, Austin, transplants like me lol, and the border communities. As Texas cities grow we are becoming more blue.
