Welcome to Day Five. Those of us who have experienced a contentious divorce understand the feeling of why won't you just stop talking and go away? Break the china and take the souvenir bottle opener from Daytona Beach and leave.

Trump flipped Obama supporters to get in office. If he dove to the middle while in office, and ratcheted up the uniter rhetoric, he would have been unstoppable. But he didn't take the political risk.

Agreed. But so many votes on so many topics keep going based on straight party lines.

No doubt. I'd like to have both. I appreciate Collins showing a small amount of independence and willingness to cross the aisle. I'd also appreciate a Dem doing the same. I think we need more independence.
  5. We're allowing any student to choose asynchronous instruction and the vast majority are staying home. Students that pick in person are on campus every other day. I teach all seniors. Today one showed up. An orchestra student who needs to be on campus.

For what it's worth I'm happy Kelly won in Arizona and I'm not really broken up that Collins won in Maine.

In 2000 I had played golf that afternoon and eventually four of us left our club about 4 am while watching the results. Felt bad for the staff member who had to stay. I'll remember 2020 as spending days with y'all. Thank you. As a long time poster here there are so many moments that have become interwoven with Soxtalk.

I'm imagining a rock paper scissors contest among staff to determine who tells him bad results.

Danny, it's an act for years. Laugh like the rest of us and move on.

No one wants to be the next Chicago Daily Tribune.

Which network will be the first to call the race? I'm betting on Fox News.
  14. Aren't those fun? I had mine at MD Anderson before seeing my oncologist and couldn't believe how far back they can reach with that swab. The second one is worse because you know what's coming.
  15. Interesting read. It partially explains why all six of the cases at my school seem to be students. I say seem because privacy laws prevent even that bit of information from being shared. -- At least according to that study -- being at a limited capacity, outdoor bar, with people socially distanced is fairly safe.

Yet millions of Americans believe him. Millions. I can't wrap my head around that. I am understanding personal economy and personal security motivated voters. Dems are offering long term, multigenerational changes to cure a long term, multigenerational problem that ultimately result in less riots and greater security. The GOP offers the National Guard to protect you right now. Both should happen, not one or the other. Americans should be secure in their homes and businesses. High income folks love playing with their money and when tax cuts happen there's more to play with. Folks that are land rich but cash poor also enjoy only paying for the government they use. It doesn't matter the unemployment rate if you're the one unemployed. The Texas economy for example hums along on Texas Tea. Sure we have solar and wind but oil smooths the gears. Why vote for your own economic ruin? Personal economies are bigger than national or international when it's one voter.
  17. Jerry should have waited until this week to announce.

G7 is just putting on his sock puppet to toss in a load of hyperbole with a sprinkle of sarcasm. Best of luck there in Kansas. Them farmers are going to be rioting when they feel marginalized, without a voice, no power or even access to power, and the whole country against them. Soon they will feel the entire system is rigged to keep them down and they just can't win. Then if a police officer or two gets a little nervous and scared in the face of a farmer the police may shoot one or two of them then it will be hell in Kansas. But you already know that which is why you are crying out for some help. I'm humbled that G7 is looking to old Tex for some help when the chips are down. Ironically my keyboard keeps wanting to type cops when I was swiping chips. Whoo-e that's scary ain't it? Now I might be changing my opinion from an earlier post but a Smith & Wesson M&P 9 would be a great choice. You better hurry down to a gun store because Biden will take away everyone's right to a little iron. And get yourself plenty of ammo because it's going to be in very short supply. You're also going to need fortification on your home. Personally a backyard bunker makes the most sense but bulletproof glass or brick in your windows is a great start. Then a sealed off panic room somewhere inside. Make certain no radio waves or wifi signal can get in or out for extra security. And get yourself a haircut before going in, it could be a long time. And don't forget food. Biden's socialist agenda will cause massive food shortages. For single guys I'm a big fan of charro beans and Tabasco for survival food. Pro tip, have enough tp on hand with that diet. Keep your head down, don't be a hero.

I'm seriously wondering if Trump really believes the stuff that comes out of his mouth.

If Biden wins the politicians take over. And that's a good thing. Gingrich and Trump will be viewed as the architects of the 21st Century Republican Party.

We're still seeing cases in liberal cities. I believe diseases don't care if you're liberal or conservative anymore than if you are gay or straight.
  23. Texsox replied to hogan873's topic in SLaM
So why did liberal cities get hit first?
  24. Texsox replied to hogan873's topic in SLaM
Isn't that explained by rural areas being the last to be hit by the virus and most likely to be conservative? More coincidence than anything else.

A clear sign of voter fraud.
