  1. So you believe if you sign with Boras you don't have any say in what he negotiates for you? You just go off to the Bahamas and wait for him to tell you where you are playing and for how much? He works for you. You are paying him so you look good. He does your dirty work. Let's walk through this using your example. "I want $100M" "No. If you sign with me we're going for $200M or bust and you're out of the league. No middle ground" That's not how it goes. If I'm trying for $100M I want a guy that has negotiated a lot contracts at that level. Not some mid tier lawyer who will shit his pants at that number and get me $75M.
  2. Any decent agent will take the PR hit for his client. That helps the player which helps the agent. People seem to think that all Boras has to do is say something and players and owners somehow just fall under a spell and agree. Who know if the players accepted his advice or rejected it?
  3. No doubt. There does seem to be a greater investment in time and convenience.
  4. After getting my first pickup I can't imagine not owning one. I have a travel trailer to tow so that almost automatically puts me in a truck. Best of all is heading to the bulk supplier for mulch, grabbing a sheet of plywood, etc. is so convenient. Plus five passenger comfort. Literally I can fit three adults in the back seat and they aren't touching and they have leg room. My son has a Tesla and they are heading on a trip today. They have to plan a 30 minute stop at a Super Charger midway on the trip. Then hope the destination charger at the hotel isn't being used. He's also planning a trip this summer and the route is being dictated by super chargers. I'm not ready yet to give up my back roads driving. I'm brand agnostic in about everything. In cars I can think of at least six brands I've owned. I was thinking there has to be at least a couple examples but about all I can think of is if I'm playing for anything important I'll be playing a Titleist ProV1. My last four cell phones have been Samsung and Mr. Davis and Tommy Bahama dress me most days.
  5. I suppose you could look for the perfect agent. Someone without any experience or with just a couple clients and they would not have any failures on their resumes. If that is the path you chose go for it. I'll take the guy with a ton of successes against a handful of failures. Isn't it great we both have choices?
  6. Perhaps not, but he'd be the one I judge the others against.
  7. https://www.tpr.org/post/under-cloud-coronavirus-fears-northside-isd-plans-online-only-options-fall?utm_term=Autofeed&utm_medium=Social&utm_source=Facebook#Echobox=1592446183 Basically my school system wants the kids who are most in need in the building every day. Next most needy, three days, next most two days, and the fourth group will be 100% on line. I'm so happy we're looking at the full needs of our students going beyond the academics.
  8. Which is why I don't see any league finishing a season.
  9. Thank you, I'm feeling better already.
  10. I wish I was a bystander to this.
  11. Here's my prediction. They don't finish the season. There will be too many sick players and the season will be called off by the middle of September. If the owners truly wanted a shorter season they should have used the safety of the players as justification.
  12. If I was a player, he'd be my agent.
  13. The owners signed and agreed to contracts based on fans attending games. Most of their revenue and expenses are known before they sign those players to contracts. They "guarantee" their profits always.
  14. I appreciate the cult like following some owners have for their cars. I was never a car guy and find it interesting. It doesn't really matter if it's one of those Ford pissing on a Chevy sticker or other car owners that know every driver that drives for "their" brand. I can't think of anything guys obsess over more.
  15. So you're from Chicago! What part?
  16. I disagree. Fining one business a $1000 per incident for not having customers wearing masks is easier and less confrontational than fining individuals. Our major grocery chain received a petition with other 200,000 signatures wanting them to require masks so the public seems behind it.
  17. It is more nuanced than that. What Texas Governor Abbott did was make it impossible for local governments to make a law requiring individuals to wear a mask. What local governments can do, and the governor agreed, is make laws requiring businesses to require masks for customers and employees in their stores. He gets to keep his personal choice GOP street cred while allowing local mayors to run their cities. Best of both worlds.
  18. They are unlike Texans who are happy to die to save the economy for the young people. /sarcasm
  19. Owners: It looks like we're going to make $20 are you happy with $10? Players: Sure Things change in the world Owners: Now it looks like we'll make $10 you happy with $5 Players: No, we'll stick to our deal
  20. High School Graduation 2020 Well we are holding our graduation over three days. Basically a student arrives and they stay in their cars with their family until all of their guests arrive, We escorted them to the cafeteria where we had a screening program set up. If anyone in their group had a temperature of 100 or above the group was escorted out of the building and a lot of disinfection happened in that area. We moved to the auditorium one family at a time with a photographer set up. The graduate walked across the stage while the family watched from the center aisle, heard their name announced, took a couple picture. We exited the other side, took one more photo with our bigger than life size bronco and they were quickly, but respectfully whisked off campus. Most families were in and out within fifteen minutes.
