If I am understanding this correctly this is tongue and groove flooring. You seem to be trying to fit three boards deep on each step when 2 1/2 boards may fit better. The tread is what you step on. If your stairs were made with, for example, 16" treads and you are trying to fit (3) 6" boards on each tread can't you just rip the first board to fit then fit in the next two boards to fit? Looking at your drawing again, the new flooring is too deep and needs to be cut. Why can't you just cut the new flooring is what I am trying to say.
  2. QUOTE (bmags @ Jun 16, 2016 -> 10:04 AM) Yeah so I never stated we need to abolish libel laws, so no, that's not the opposite of any position here. I'm questioning the ethics of allowing some of the very powerful people in this world to use the legal system to financially punish media outlets they don't like. Peter Thiel was not libeled by Gawker. Hogan may have been, and this donald trump company was not. But he is making sure every law suit get staken to Gawker just so they have to pay for dealing with it. According to Gawker, the items youv'e heard about are justt one of mulitple he has lobbied against Gawker: http://gawker.com/now-peter-thiels-lawyer-...on-t-1781918385 Do you support all of these actions against Gawker? Do you support when Trump just threatens to sue any publication regardless of meriti just to punish them financially? Gawker has has access to the courts and could counter sue him as well if he continued to bring frivolous suits against them. EVentually he would lose a lot of money unless Gawker kept doing wrong. BUt you have a great point here that needs to be considered.

I must be missing something. Isn't this as simple as making the tread shallower to match what was already there? Why does the tread have to overhang the riser so much? You would rip the board that is closest to the riser. And I really like that trim work. If it is in the room with the staircase, I would try to incorporate that into the stairway design.
  4. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Jun 15, 2016 -> 07:16 PM) My first was on a Commodore 64! We're showing our age. Vic20 won in a sales contest. I didn't really do anything except learn a little BASIC. Cassette tape drive. LOL Then a 8088 used computer I picked up check.
  5. I was reading some of the tweets and other comments that flame the parents from Nebraska whose 2-year old was killed by an alligator and started wondering is the internet too harsh? These parents had just watched their child being eaten by an alligator. Do they really deserve to be vilified as well?
  6. Just to annoy a friend of mine from Chicago that I coach with here in S.A. I told him if the Cubs are in the WS I'm jumping on that bandwagon with both feet.
  7. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 15, 2016 -> 06:03 PM) And the timing isn't that bad at all considering it's the end of the school year across the country...could have been much worse. Still have a feeling that they stayed behind with their mother and didn't move to Chicago. That's my guess as well.
  8. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Jun 15, 2016 -> 06:59 PM) I started at 300 baud...and as for long distance charges, as was said in WarGames...there were ways around that. Actually now that I think about 1200 was my first. A prototype from Incomm Data a customer of mine at the time. Full card that fit in my 8088 case. Wow that was almost literally a lifetime ago.
  9. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Jun 15, 2016 -> 07:04 PM) Well absolutely. Sometimes they life the truth as opposed to living the lie and if you choose to do that through faith, again, I have no problem with that choice. So long as it's the truth. The only thing I take issue with in regard to this is basing a marriage on lies. If you have to lie about the things you did, are doing or will be doing, don't do them. I agree.
  10. QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ Jun 14, 2016 -> 10:17 AM) I remember the days of Prodigy before AOL. GEnie was the first I joined. Followed by Prodigy then AOL. Before that dialing into servers on my blazing 4200 baud modem was the way to go. Exec PC in Milwaukee and The Well in S.F. where two of my favorites. Long distance bills were killer at times.
  11. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Jun 15, 2016 -> 06:49 PM) Sometimes those couples are the worst offenders. And sometimes not. My in laws just celebrated 65 years of marriage. They credit their faith in keeping that marriage alive.
  12. He is one of the few conservative pundits that I enjoy listening to.
  13. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 15, 2016 -> 06:42 PM) I pretty much agree with you. I don't know why people cheat. I'll tell you one thing. I know a lot of you despise religion but I love watching the families that come to church every Sunday and sit by me. I feel like if God is in the equation for both partners they would never cheat. And if they do at least they are trying.

Something I thought to do this time when changing the door lock. I decided to not rekey to my old lock. I started fresh with a new key. I labeled the two keys that came with the lock and immediately went and had copies made. I have a list stored of who will be getting a key plus I have the originals in original condition when I need to make any replacements. It seems like copies of copies always have glitches "just wiggle it a little bit"
  15. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 15, 2016 -> 05:34 PM) I don't think I'd forgive the best man. I don't think I'd let him be my best man after that. That's just insane posse. Great post. Nothing good comes out of talking about a bachelor party. People will be satisfied if EVERYBODY says you played cards and ordered a pizza. Anybody that says what really happens at one of the wilder bachelor parties should be ashamed of himself. You can get grooms in a lot of trouble just by saying there were strippers. What wild bachelor party? We played cards and ordered a pizza
  16. At his age his family may not have moved with him.
  17. I'm with Jenks on this one. Everyone who gives away money has something they want in return. If he was financing a suit against an evil chemical company whose business practices resulted in poor people dying, we'd erect a statue. Take on polluting loggers who decimate a salmon fishery, hold a parade, take on an entertaining web site of dubious ethics that we all enjoy reading? Whoa . . . I trust our legal system and the checks and balances that have been put in place. I would also be interested if anyone has proposed legislation making a full disclosure of the financial arrangements of plaintiffs and defendants a requirement of civil suits.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 8, 2016 -> 06:56 PM) Nice Tex! How long do you expect the project to take? QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Jun 8, 2016 -> 07:20 PM) Going to need pics when done It took us three days. I'll try to post a pick. I also built a little ramp / deck at my shed. The drywall guy is here repairing some ceiling damage, a plumber will be replacing my water heater, I'm replacing the locks at my front door, that cheap s*** Kwikset suddenly stopped working. Lots of projects going.
  19. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 15, 2016 -> 08:55 AM) 3 starts ago James Shields had a 3.06 era. Literally half of the earned runs that James Shields has given up this entire season, were given up in his last 3 starts. (23 of 45) That doesn't scream gradual decline. That screams red flag. For refernce's sake, since everyone love to point at John Danks as some sort of reference point for suck, the most ER he ever gave up in 3 consecutive starts was 17, which happened to be right before he had shoulder surgery. Well thank you for that little ray of sunshine.
  20. I had two bachelor parties for my first wedding. One was at a Sox game with my dad, father in law, and about twenty friends and family. Everyone was welcome. The second was a smaller invite list and was was exactly like every other bachelor party that my friends had. We did it ten times at least. Each time was exactly the same. We played cards and ordered pizza. My advice to all the guys his have a standard bachelor party plan that everyone can memorize and repeat even under duress. Kind of like name, rank, and serial number. We played cards and ordered a pizza. We played cards and ordered a pizza. Never embellish, never add details. We played cards and ordered a pizza. No strippers. We played cards and ordered a pizza.
  21. QUOTE (Jake @ Jun 10, 2016 -> 11:02 AM) Is anyone here familiar with contract law? I'd be curious whether a person who is highly intoxicated can have their agreement to a contract invalidated. My insurance agent mentioned that if he knows someone is drunk he can not write a policy. I'm not certain if that is state law or company policy.
  22. QUOTE (SCCWS @ Jun 13, 2016 -> 07:31 AM) I would agree. I also think the blame is just as much on the GM ( whoever that really is) for giving Robin a flawed roster. Every team has a flawed roster, well 30 or so do. It's up to the manager to maximize the good and minimize the flaws over the course of a long season. Which means flaws play sometimes.
  23. QUOTE (Iwritecode @ Jun 10, 2016 -> 09:35 AM) At my campground a couple of weeks ago I had a friend tell me about a website that will let you know when the ISS will be visible. He said that it would be visible that night at 9:02 PM for about 6-7 minutes traveling from the SE to the NW. It was a perfectly clear night so we stood out and watched and sure enough at 9:02 we saw it. We got to watch it travel across the entire sky. It was pretty cool. Mike Fossum is from where I was living and we have a few mutual friends from Boy Scouts. I happened to be a one friend's house when Mike called him. I look at the other guy there and said "I thought he was flying". He was calling from the ISS. As a kid growing up in the 1960s that was pretty cool.

QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Jun 10, 2016 -> 02:08 PM) Got an Extreme 5 and it keeps ice in it for 4-5 days just sitting on my back porch. And less than $100. That's what we bought. I'm taking our old one and building a cedar and corrugated metal stand for it. It should work great as a backyard party chest.
  25. These are our neighbors, our co workers, the guy or gal that makes our internet work, teaches our children, cooks our food, takes care of us when we are sick, we say hello on the sidewalk. Now fifty have been killed and we focus on the rippling affect throughout our society. Hopefully those ripples take out the hate, the blind f***ing hate in this world.
