  1. From the post quoted a few up . . . http://us.rd.yahoo.com/dailynews/time/us_t...1993872,00.html

QUOTE (kapkomet @ Jun 11, 2010 -> 10:15 PM) You had more of that bulls*** going on today...Nancy Pelosi slobbering and blinking herself getting out about how much of a f***er George W. Bush is for causing all of this worldwide calamity.
  3. Texas "fits" better in the Big 10. Either coast just isn't feeling right.
  4. Those beers probably cost him thousands of dollars in sponsorships. Here was a golden chance to build a fan base. There are worse things he could have done, but wow, what a disappointment. And btw, I did laugh.

Did it feel stable? Does Illinois require a license for those? QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jun 11, 2010 -> 07:03 PM) I have the 150. Got it up to 70 on rt 83 on my way home from elmhurst yesterday.
  6. Sell. I'm not certain what cost is used to determine your tax liability. Zero would suck because it was a gift. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 11, 2010 -> 07:08 PM) From previous high. I haven't a clue what the purchase price was, I didn't pay for it. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 11, 2010 -> 07:09 PM) Well then you didn't take a loss on it.
  7. Texsox replied to RockRaines's topic in SLaM
Which model did you get? The 50cc one looks great for around the city.
  8. Are you talking loss from purchase price or loss from a previous high? QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 10, 2010 -> 09:02 AM) So basically, I'm probably better off figuring out how to take the $600 loss rather than having it all worthless.
  9. Two for one: This might me a surprise, but there does need to be a change to our current citizenship laws. Too many Mexican nationals walk over as "tourists" and give birth here. The hospitals here deliver an amazing number of "tourist" babies. Hundreds of years ago, when citizenship was determined by birth, people were not as mobile. 2010 calls for laws from this century, not the 1700s. My son just received his new Social Security card, it says you should not carry this with you, but keep it secured at home. Should they add an asterix for Arizona. And a bonus. Of course states should not be the ones to decide who is a citizen of the US.
  10. I was claiming that there are people who have been out of work for months, even years, who cannot take those jobs. Either the kjobs are seasonal and the unemplyed person has a family and can't "follow the crops" or the job doesn't pay enough to support their current bills. If they are willing to accept the job, the employer knows they will quit as soon as they can find something closer to their old salary. You do understand having someone leave after a few weeks of months is very costly to an employer. So again I disagree that jobs are jobs. There is a reason that immigrants have been filing these jobs since before WW1. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jun 11, 2010 -> 02:39 PM) You knew what I meant. You were claiming that people wouldn't take those jobs and that business might get hurt. My point was and is that someone will fill those jobs because they are jobs and people need them. There is no law out there that says only illegals will work those jobs.
  11. You said jobs are jobs. I showed that all jobs are not equal. We've steadily better jobs overseas than we have created here. We have allowed legal immigrants to work high dollar jobs and complain about someone taking a minimum wage job. A job is NOT a job. There are huge differences between jobs. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jun 11, 2010 -> 12:14 PM) What does this have to do with anything? So because a lawyer doesn't want to become a McDonalds cashier we should allow people to act illegally? SOMEONE will fill those jobs. And if those employers can't find workers, guess what, they'll have to give more incentives. That's how the system works (and should work).
  12. CanofCorn, great points about rivalries.
  13. The point is, an out of work financial planner who was earning $75,000 annually is not switching careers and working in a nursery for 20 years. Those are not equal jobs. Replacing $50,000 jobs with $20,000 isn't equal at all.
  14. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jun 11, 2010 -> 11:58 AM) SOME people might feel too high and mighty for those jobs, but not EVERYONE. Isn't that what I said? Only without the caps?
  15. QUOTE (EvilJester99 @ Jun 11, 2010 -> 11:47 AM) They said Pronger grabbed it and threw it into the crowd.....it was on Mully and Hanley...TIFWIW And that is about as close as Pronger should ever get to a winning puck
  16. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jun 11, 2010 -> 11:44 AM) laws be damned! if it's good for business, it's ok! I'm seriously shocked that so many people are ok with illegals in this country. I agree that our tight control over immigration isn't in the American spirit, so I join those that think the process for citizenship/visas/guest worker programs needs to be changed to become more efficient and shorter in time. But this attitude that defying laws because of x, y, and z is just laughable. "My kids need an xbox so I'm going to rob a bank. Don't worry! It's ok! I'm just helping my family! The ends justify the means!" Ridiculous. I feel ZERO sympathy for this guy. Ya know what? Do things the right way and you don't have to be worried about it. And when did this completely unfounded position that illegals are the ONLY people that would take those jobs start? That's just made up bulls***. Jobs are jobs, and if there's demand for it, someone will fill the position. That's a ridiculous excuse to justify people committing illegal acts. Actually jobs are not jobs. There are people who have been out of work for months, even years, that would not take a nursery job, or a packing shed job, or a meat packing job . . .
  17. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Jun 10, 2010 -> 04:27 PM) Send your friend an email. This is pretty outstanding. http://blogs.chicagosports.chicagotribune....ut-it-here.html dammit, the article put tears in my eyes.
  18. QUOTE (JPN366 @ Jun 11, 2010 -> 11:01 AM) This is what happens when you trade away every prospect you have. Every player, on every roster, is your prospect if you are willing to pay the price to get that player.
  19. Great points. The randomness and all the factors off the field (computer ranking, votes), plus being played by younger athletes who also have full time jobs (going to class) outside of their sport, makes the BCS #1 to me.
  20. college kids sleep until noon, and begin thinking about going out at 10pm. I'm not certain it is that big of a deal competitively.
  21. Texsox replied to RockRaines's topic in SLaM
I sold my Kawasaki Vulcan when I moved to Texas. With my new job which makes commuting on one doable, I will be back in the market soon.
  22. The real argument was probably two very competitive people pissed that the team that put together/manage is sucking. They are both on edge and started arguing. The topic at hand was probably meaningless. It could have been over a lunch tab, color of a shirt, or their kids.
  23. Where is it all heading? My guess is at least one national conference with 12 of the top 20 football teams. Maybe not this time around, but soon enough. I could even see a really stunning realignment with conferences developed strictly for football, basketball, and the olympic sports. National scope for the two major revenue sports and regional for the non revenue sports. It would take a major rethinking of what a conference is, but it would make the most money, save the most money, and money is what it is all about.
  24. After he moves from Arizona, I wonder who will be taking his job and if the nursery owner will think it imporved his business.
