  1. QUOTE (The Critic @ May 31, 2010 -> 09:24 AM) It's not like he should be a super-confident guy anyway. Career minor-leaguer, waived 5 times, looked like a frightened deer in the biggest game of his career. If the Toews/Kane/Byfuglien line shows up at all tonight, we should see Boucher replace Leighton again. He was flying pretty high for a couple weeks and probably should have been. This probably dropped him down to earth. I am a little surprised he's getting the start tonight. I suspect if he gives up three in the first, he would be done. And you are correct they have to show up tonight. I thought the Hawk depth was doing to be the difference, I am suprised that the top line was shut down so completely.
  2. QUOTE (lostfan @ May 31, 2010 -> 10:33 AM) I mean, they are making it sound like he blew off Memorial Day entirely. yep, silly isn't it?
  3. QUOTE (lostfan @ May 31, 2010 -> 10:35 AM) The less attention given to these guys the better I keep hoping karma is a b****
  4. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 31, 2010 -> 08:49 AM) In a weird sort of way that would be better. At least then you would know that people would have jobs matched up with them when they got here. there has to be a link between immigration and jobs
  5. QUOTE (lostfan @ May 31, 2010 -> 10:00 AM) He's going to Lincoln National Cemetery instead... seriously, what's the difference? I will say this, he basically picked a convenient place close to where he was vacationing. That is kind of lame. I would prefer he be at Arlington, but it isn't as big a deal as some veterans groups are making it.
  6. Happy Birthday PA
  7. I'm not certain if Balta already posted this http://www.cnn.com/2010/SHOWBIZ/Music/05/3...rial/index.html
  8. Philly has a controversy in goal and the Hawks are set. The Flyers gambled on pulling Leighton and I think shaking his confidence will come back and haunt them. I'm guessing he plays a little tighter wondering if he'll get pulled after giving up a goal or two. Or it's wishful thinking.
  9. I was watching an interesting documentary on the History Channel and the state of our roads, bridges, sewer, water, and electric grid is appalling. I use to think we would fall because of our debt, but now I'm thinking running out of electricity and not being able to flush a toilet may cripple up first.
  10. This guy. Electronics day at school. We have an x-box hooked up to the projector, iPods and cells phones everywhere. There is an awards ceremony at 11:00 and hopefully kids will be picked up early. Good day for 8th grade ditch day but they are too well behaved for that

This summer it looks like I'll be following the Natchez Trace Parkway for much of my trip up to Chicago. Anyone visit any of the spots along the way? We're planning on traveling the entire length from Natchez to Nashville with at least one side trip to Vicksburg.
  12. It is the most incredible romantic day that you can only experience two or three times in a lifetime . . . Congrats!
  13. QUOTE (Y2HH @ May 28, 2010 -> 01:14 PM) Then the people breaking the laws need to stop...otherwise it's going to happen one way or another. Nobody wants this, but it appears to be inevitable since we can't seem to figure out a way to keep illegals out of our country and then supporting them in many ways when they do come here. They not only harm Americans, but they harm those who do things the right way in trying to get here, as would be expected of a common criminal. Then, if/when they do something real bad, they just leave and whoever had said bad thing done to them gets nothing but loss. One way - Everyone carries papers/proof of citizenship. I figure this is coming anyway, so we may as well just get a head start on the technologies that'll be used for this. Another - Illegals continue to pour into the nation and bankrupt the country in which they have no stake in, move on like insects leaving the scraps behind to those of us who DO have a stake here, who pay taxes here, etc. No matter what is done about this situation, big brother state is coming, hell, it doesn't even matter if you completely remove all illegals from the equation -- the barcode/personal identification (retinal, hand print, dna scan, etc.) is coming here either way. I'm hoping to not see this in my lifetime, but I wouldn't bet on that...we are closer and closer to a completely cashless society than ever before. The lowest two tax brackets actually received a refund of all plus more, it doesn't matter who is working those jobs. So someone working "off the books" helps the budget, not hurts it.
  14. I received five emails about Obama being the first president to not attend ceremonies at Arlington on Memorial Day. He's the first Dem in a while to miss. Bush the Lesser missed one, Bush the Senior never attended at Arlington, and Reagan missed four of eight. Clinton attended all eight years. Thank you snopes.com
  15. I would feel 100% instead of 90% for this if it went to the home team with the best record.
  16. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 28, 2010 -> 12:58 PM) They need to repeal those immigration laws in the south! I think we need to be very careful before reaching the point where we all have to carry ID papers with us at all times. That is the logical sequence of events and the slippery slope we are venturing out on. I tolerate the interior checkpoint when I head north from my house, but that is one location. I don't think the rest of America wants roadblocks and citizen checks.
  17. QUOTE (Brian @ May 28, 2010 -> 12:43 PM) I would figure alot of psychology grads start their own offices. Just a guess. You need a Master's in most states. The degree opens a few business doors in sales and marketing, sometimes in HR. Not a lot of direct school to jobhs links.
  18. I'll check the results after the Hawks game . . .
  19. Can we all agree that cycling was about the dirtiest sport out there for PEDs and other medical maneuvers?
  20. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ May 28, 2010 -> 10:49 AM) I am being hyperbolic in thinking out loud here, but I sometimes wonder if you even like our country. It's hard to find examples of you saying positive things about it, even when referring to the left. Love > dislike > apathy
  21. From above.

  23. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 28, 2010 -> 09:23 AM) Embedded video from WGN, works for me. Must be blocked
  24. QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ May 28, 2010 -> 09:55 AM) the day nurse just puts me on the monorail in the morning and then comes to take me off 11 hours later. I knew I should have saved more for my old age, my nurse just tosses me out the window . . .
