Healthcare reform
QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Nov 7, 2009 -> 01:52 PM) I would rather they spend all this time and energy into fixing the economy that healthcare. Especially because i fear their 'fix' for healthcare will f*** up the economy even more. or fix medicare first, show me you have some ideas that can work before asking me to trust you with a huge percentage of the nations economy. Too much waste inthe programs youhave, too much room for errors, too many opportunities for crooks. Fox something first. How exactly do you envision 400+ members of congress and 100 senators all work on one thing at one time? And I love the Fox something first I believe your Freudian Slip was showing

Beckham's Deep Thoughts on playing 2nd base
QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Nov 7, 2009 -> 02:42 PM) "Generally and historically teams do not want their best players at 2nd base.' You mean like the 2008 AL MVP Pedroia?! Get a clue. Make about 10,000 good posts before cranking up the snark. Personal insults are frowned on around here.

Beckham's Deep Thoughts on playing 2nd base
QUOTE (bmags @ Nov 7, 2009 -> 09:02 AM) Ehh, not even close to as turbulent as the bears. For 7 years it was ventura, then carousel, then for quite a few years it was Crede. And each one a future hall of famer which was more to my point. Edit: I should have said consistency of quality in my earlier post. Sorry.

Beckham's Deep Thoughts on playing 2nd base
One thing, switching him to 2nd will allow the Sox long tradition of 3rd baseman to continue. There has been much consistency with 3rd on the Sox and QB for the Bears.

Toilet Seat Poll
QUOTE (SouthsideDon48 @ Nov 7, 2009 -> 03:41 AM) My manager keeps telling me he wants me to punch out whenever I go to the bathroom because he thinks I take too long. What he doesn't know is that while I'm on the toilet at work, I'm using my cell phone and visiting sites like Soxtalk. wait, did you post this while on the can? Thematically that could be post of the year worthy

Toilet Seat Poll
This keeps getting better. I misheard the price, it was over $100 closer to $175 with shipping. Carved and painted wood seat and cover. Has a nice fishing motif, and he doesn't even fish. I keep asking him to take a pic and send it to me. She said she wanted him to sit and think about her and what he was losing and this would be the reminder. I said, if she had sent you some good porn with her, you'd really think about her, but my suggestion was probably not followed.

Old Timers History Question
I am looking over some US History materials and came across the Era of Good Feeling, the time right after the War of 1812. The term is new to me, I am wondering if I was day dreaming back then, or is this a new milestone being taught.

What the f*** is wrong with SHIPPS?
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 6, 2009 -> 02:38 PM) "Ok, girl, I'll go see your tyler perry movie, but first, I need you to open this box." Remember this is coming from a guy that went out with the guys to see AC/DC on a Friday Night at the Aragon Brawl Room and went to see Barry Manilow, THE Barry Manilow in Saturday night. Go and enjoy yourself, but let her know it is because you respect her, and want to meet her friends. But of the s*** that a relationship goes through, this ain't nothing.

Stimulus Bill Redux
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 6, 2009 -> 09:01 AM) We are doing exactly that right now. The government is expanding at an enormous rate right now. It isn't a lower cost solution. Government jobs cost more than the private sector counterparts. But don't the people on public aid get like $50,000 a year, drive luxury cars, etc.? What I was thinking is the difference between their benefits and wages is the "cost".

Bill James handbook 2010 predicts Tyler Flowers
The chance of Flowers needing to be taken out of a game seems rather remote and I could see a team risking a pitcher having to bat and only carrying two catchers.

Where will Beckham and Alexei play in 2010 ?
What this really does his highlight the amazing flexibility that the Sox have. I can't think of a year where there are so many chances to upgrade, but not because the current roster sucks so bad, but because there are some players who are young enough, and athletic enough, to learn/go back, to a different position. Too made there wasn't also a similar financial freedom.

Stimulus Bill Redux
Why didn't we start some massive public works projects? Have the government start hiring more? Moving people off the government unemployment roll and onto the government payroll, seems like a lower cost solution.

Financial News
QUOTE (Cknolls @ Nov 5, 2009 -> 09:57 AM) And nothing will change until they amend the union pension benefits. This is not that hard people. Cut the benefits, make the employees pay more into their benefits/healthcare, or make it a mandatory 65 years until you can retire. Yes, it is a hard choice, and no politician has the balls to even mention it, but that is the sad reality. The benefits are not going away, and are only getting worse. Punting on the issue does not solve it. Employees look at their total compensation. So it really doesn't make a difference if the base pay is $50,000 + $5,000 into the pension or $55,000 and the employee puts in $5,000. Hell, pay them $65,000 and make them contribute $10,00 for their health care. And it seems we have called for pay cuts in every sector, and I'm asking this seriously, I am not an economist, how does it help if everyone takes a 10% pay cut?
