Catch-All Anything Thread
QUOTE (kapkomet @ Apr 11, 2008 -> 07:55 AM) Our low temp last night was above 70. Damn Yankees way up north sure have it bad. I've already lived through a couple 100 degree days and a couple sun burns. I just picked up a couple sailboats for my program. Really sweet. Trying to fit a couple work days on the water into my schedule.

Bush Memo Allowing Torture Surfaces
QUOTE (BearSox @ Apr 12, 2008 -> 10:33 PM) you know what, if there is proof that a certain person knows something, and the info he (or she) knows is vital to national security and in the fight against terrorism, I have no problem with whatever means of torture they inflict on the terrorist scum. What is really cool is if enough people tell the government *YOU* are a terrorist, that is enough *proof* nowadays. So we send you down to Gitmo, or contract to a third country, what will you tell them? Will you hang around for days explaing you know nothing and it is a mistake, and expect them to stop, or will you make something up to get them to stop? After all you are terrorist scum and we can inflict any kind of torture on you if it helps our war on terrorists.

Time for undertaxed liberals to put up...
QUOTE (kapkomet @ Apr 13, 2008 -> 08:29 PM) And I agree as well. That's why 95% of the ass-monkeys that call themselves conservatives can kiss my ass. That's why 95% of the ass-monkeys that call themselves politicians can kiss my ass. Same with the Dems, want a new program? Then tell the public how we're going to pay for it, and let's track it. But don't give me this crap of cutting taxes while increasing debt. I expect to be living long enough to have to pay this back. Give me checks from the surplus, don't borrow to give me money.

Time for undertaxed liberals to put up...
QUOTE (lostfan @ Apr 13, 2008 -> 02:49 PM) Alpha, we have common ground here after all. I'd have liked to hear something like, we're going to have to invade Iraq. He has WMD and he's terrible to his people. We want to be safe, and we will win this war. Now there will be a cost. abour $600 per person, so we're going to skip those tax cuts to pay for it. Hell, depending on how things go, we may have to raise taxes to pay for this war.

Supermarket Frozen Pizza
QUOTE (daa84 @ Apr 13, 2008 -> 09:07 PM) the pizzazz will take prolly 12-15 min for a normal pizza, maybe 20 for a thick one like a digornio...it heats up faster than an oven so i think overall the time is less... oh and there is no better way to reheat delivery or restaurant pizza than on a pizzaz Reheat?? What is this reheat? *If* I ever leave a slice behind, it is later consumed cold

Supermarket Frozen Pizza
QUOTE (daa84 @ Apr 13, 2008 -> 05:03 PM) honestly...not really, its just so much more convient to use than an oven because it gets hot right away and you can see when things are done...like i said before though, i used to put things like sandwiches on it to melt cheese and toast hte bread, something i would have never done in an oven, but clearly could do in an oven...its just nice on the pizzazz cuz its so convenient its also bigger than a toaster oven too Is it any slower? I usually dislike unitaskers in the kithcen, but with my son coming back from college and on his own for most of the summer while I'm at the island, I may pick one up.

Daughter's New Laptop
QUOTE (greasywheels121 @ Apr 13, 2008 -> 10:13 AM) *BUMP* My computer's not long before it will be ready to kick the bucket. I recently got an external HD for backing up some essentials. I've stored all my entire documents folder of pictures, music, etc. Is there anything else that would be wise for me to be storing on here? If you can just mirror your entire drive, why not do it?

Is the Pizzazz better than an oven or toaster oven??

Time for undertaxed liberals to put up...
Alpha, as a liberal, I do not want to pay taxes any more than you do. What I don't want is a debtor government heading to bankruptcy on foreign debt. I want to make certain we have great National Parks, a strong defense, I want to see laws enforced that protect consumers from faulty products, from dishonest con men, etc. So your sweeping generalization is an insult to most liberals and a gross mis characterization. Most of us believe in actually paying for the government, not cutting taxes, and shifting the burden to some unnamed individuals down the road.

DEM Primaries/Candidates thread
SS, there are a few posters here who take the same stance, giving credit when credit is due, no matter the initial after the name. I know I respect those posters, and yourself, a lot for that. Neither party has a monopoly on good or evil. In fact. most of the time it's which way to the same goal.

Share your rain-out game stories here
It was a Central Professional League game. At the start there was less than 500 people there. They played an inning or two and the rain came. Giant buckets of the meanest, nastiest, never gonna stop, rain. Immediately most people headed for home. Since I was on a little trip and had no where else to go besides a bar, I decided to sit around and wait. After about two hours, less than a hundred fans were left. By the time they restarted, three fans were left. It was an end of the season game, with playoff implications for the visitors, last game of the series, and everyone wanted to see it played, well everyone except any fans. The one thing I'll remember was the one fan who insisted on going back to his crappy seat. The other guy and I sat behind home and spread out. The third was down the line in the outfield.

For Howard Stern Fans...
QUOTE (The Critic @ Apr 11, 2008 -> 02:51 AM) I don't really listen to much of either. I don't have satellite radio, and I only really listen to local radio when I'm driving or doing dishes. I download a bunch of podcasts and listen to them on iTunes or the Pod. When I hear all these millions of listeners bought the service because of Stern, I wonder if it's like saying millions of customers joined Time-Warner cable for the Ace of Cakes. If their offering is really that poor that Stern is the only, or even the majority of the reason to take that service, then I can see why both systems needed to merge. I can't believe their business plan was, here's Howard and some stuff around it. Talk about narrow casting.

So y'all just listen to Howard, then regular local radio?

The Start of a Season, Why Are You Here?
QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Apr 10, 2008 -> 05:37 PM) As for the size of the infield grass I will ignore this thought and believe I misunderstood the intent of your comment. I was straining for a topic that was totally new, that had not already been discussed. I was not trying to trivilize anything, and actually it would be an interesting topic. A small ball, bunt style team would want slower grass and slope the lines in, a hard hitting, power team wants them slanted away, short, and fast. The "fresh" remark rings very true with me. When I was strictly a mod in SL&P, if the front page started to get stale, I worked to toss some new topics out there. We should be creating some urgency for people to log in each day, in fact several times per day. I think if you miss for a day, you should have to scroll back to the previous page to start "catching up".

Interesting Sex Research
QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Apr 10, 2008 -> 01:21 PM) The book sounds like it will actually be pretty entartaining. I heard an NPR piece on it yesterday and the author described some pretty humorous research studies covered in the book. One of thestudies she includes had an investigator pitting tiny polyester pants on lab mice to see what the effects were on reproduction. You didn't read closely enough, one mouse had empty pockets, one had a tiny sock stuffed in the front, and one had a Castanza wallet of $20 bills.

The Start of a Season, Why Are You Here?
QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Apr 10, 2008 -> 08:04 AM) I beleive this forum went downhill when everyone was expected to go elsewhere for general information and then everything was thrown into a catch-all thread. Threads with 260 or even 26 pages do no good. What is wrong with starting a new thread for each new thought? It either gains legs and grows or falls to the next page. When I originally signed on to this site there were links to every Sox related story for the day and then a thread. I came here for one stop shopping. Game threads used to have a Play-by-Play feel to them now if you ask for this, someone will link you to MLB.com or some other site that may update you in 3 minutes with the correct information. Instead of a new thread a good topic is discussed in the game thread and never heard from again. The fact that the Sox have struggled has this site turning into a dump on the Sox and an advesarial mood and the content is really decreasing. I think you've made some good points there. If you would please clarify something, do you mean if someone has yet another idea on Crede and Fields to start another thread, or if someone has a new idea about the height of the infield grass? It is my understanding, and someone correct me, we were trying to avoid a page of 20 threads and 6 were on Crede/Fields 5 were KW is an idiot 3 KW is genious, and the rest a smattering of anything.

The OFFICIAL "I was wrong about Joe Crede" thread
QUOTE (iamshack @ Apr 10, 2008 -> 03:22 PM) I'm not saying they would circumvent Boras. I'm saying if they made Joe an offer along the lines of 4/44 or something, he may take it even though Boras would advise against it. I see Crede in pin stripes

Boras is also bound to present any and all offers to Crede. I am assuming he his gone, and if he is back, I will reserve judgement based on what happened to have him back.

Buckner Throws out first pitch
QUOTE (YASNY @ Apr 10, 2008 -> 02:39 PM) That would be the Marlins. Actually I was thinking about whats-his-name who bobbled a ball thatw as actually in play, which was actually the bigger factor in them losing. But I forget his name because of Steve.

Supermarket Frozen Pizza
I think there are a few roles for a frozen pizza. Without beer, snack With beer, dinner/lunch etc. After many beers* *these are the ones that are sometimes found here or after the fire alarm has gone off because you forgot to take it out of the box. DiGornio etc work for #1 and #2, Tombstone, Tony's, etc takes over for #2 and #3

Supermarket Frozen Pizza
Blasphemy to some, whatcha got? Tombstone is my go to pizza, I always have one in the freezer. I do not consider it "pizza" in the truest sense of the title, but sometimes, you just got to heat the oven to 425
