  1. Think of how dumb the average person is. Half the people in the world are dumber than that person.
  2. QUOTE(whitesoxmanager @ Aug 24, 2005 -> 12:59 PM) Walter would run over any obstacle, Jordan wouldn't allow anyone to beat him including little kids, and Arow runs thru walls....TOUGH guys...GET IT? If that is odd to you? Maybe I would have got it had you actually posted anything about toughness. You said that none of those guys can be poked fun at which is wrong.
  3. QUOTE(whitesoxmanager @ Aug 24, 2005 -> 12:33 PM) Well some things are worth reacting too & this is one of em! Anybody poke remote fun at Walter, Jordan, or even in this case Arow is asking for it! I am not sitting back on this stupid thread & can't believe that noone else has already busted his balls... Walter, jordan and ......AROW what an odd list. Anyone who knows any stories about the "behind the scenes" mjeff would never claim that you can't poke fun at him.
  4. Can someone please tell me why we are not putting in claims for guys like dmitri young, mike sweeney, hell even alfonso or griffey? The only reason I can think of is that they would rather have these guys pass thru waivers and try to work out a deal and not take on the entire contracts of the above guys. Is this acceptable this season? It's been obvious the entire year that the offensive help was needed. If we are not adding guys because of $$ concerns than that really pisses me off considering the chance we have this year.
  5. If I remember correctly, two guys who got new 3 year contracts the past off-season, Rowand and Uribe are currently failing to earn those deals.
  6. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Aug 15, 2005 -> 11:00 PM) 2 Herniated Discs. I'd like to see you with 2 herniated discs and plow over my nephew and you could tell me if it won't give you a one way ticket to the hospital. If that's the case then he shouldn't be playing. It's part of the game and if he's not healthy enough to play the game then he should be on the dl or on the bench.
  7. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Aug 15, 2005 -> 11:08 PM) You are right, but I don't blame him for not plowing into him. He had a legitimate shot at being safe by trying to avoid the tag. When it's all said and done maybe it didn't even matter tonite. It was just something that bothered me when i saw the play. I would like to think if it was the difference in the game every one of our guys would do what it takes to win.
  8. QUOTE(Sox Hustler @ Aug 15, 2005 -> 11:05 PM) Oh wow, im running full speed towards someone and my bad back never crosses my mind... Let me run into him and see what happens. Why don't we bench him, or why didn't he plow him over so we can have Blum and Ozuna start at 3rd for the rest of the season, smart decision. Catchers block the plate, that's part of the game. So is going thru the catcher to score a run. If crede isn't healthy enough to play the game then he shouldn't be playing. If guys aren''t gonna play full out then what's the point? Let's just play our scrubs the rest of the year and hope we manage home field advantage. of course we can just turn on the competitivness in the playoffs. how's that worked in the past for teams?
  9. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Aug 15, 2005 -> 11:03 PM) You don't run over catchers for the sake of running over catches. It just causes problems. Mauer gave him the plate. You only run a guy over if he's blocking the plate. Showing you are the new badass on the block is done by winning the game, not making up for something you are still whining about from last year. Who cares. That's not how the game of baseball is played. I honestly don't think he gave him the plate. When he slid around mauer, not straight to the plate, he wasn't even near enough to tag the plate. If he runs straight to the plate there is a collision.
  10. QUOTE(Sox Hustler @ Aug 15, 2005 -> 10:58 PM) Oh bulls***! Don't f***ing criticise Crede for not trying to take out Mauer. If, and that's an if because none of us know whether crede took into consideration his back at that play, but if he did, that's horses***. he's got a running start at mauer who's stationairy and concentrating on catching the ball. If he's pussyfooting around him so he won't get hurt then he should be on the bench.
  11. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Aug 15, 2005 -> 10:51 PM) Crede has 2 herniated discs. He's still doing better than Blum. He has no business trying to plow over anybody. I'm not excusing his piss poor hitting, but would you rather see Blum or Crede at 3b? I say Crede. I disagree, if crede is sidestepping mauer in that situation because of his back then he has no business playing. You either go all out or you sit on the bench. maybe it wouldn't have mattered but if chemistry has any importance whatsoever he knocks mauer on his ass.
  12. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Aug 15, 2005 -> 10:36 PM) How do RISP ABs occur? By other players on the team not making outs. It's simple really. If you don't make an out you are at the very least awarded first base. Plus by not making an out, you allow for more chaces for your teammates to get hits. That includes HRs, which I don't know if you've heard, are really really good. Every out you make decreases your teams chance of scoring, no matter the situation. Every time you reach safely you increase your teams chance of scoring. Like I said it's simple. Timo Makes lots of outs. He deprives the team of more runners in scoring position AB's through his suckitude in all situations other than RISP than he makes up for by hitting marginally above average in those situations (Though he sucks in ALL situations this season). If we had a team full of Timo's we would score about 1 run per game, but you would be defending them because they would all have good stats with RISP. Timo had what 1 RISP AB tonight? What if he had gone 0-1 in that situation, but 3-3 in the others? -- We probably would have won because he 1) didn't make 5 outs. 2) allowed for more RISP at-bats by the team than in the previous scenario. I agree 100%. Unfortunaltley it doesn't seem like Hawk, ozzie and most importantly Kenny agree with you.
  13. I just got back from a bar watching the game. I'm not surprised that we lost given the lineup tonite, but two things that bothered me. One, the shoddy ass camera work that led me to believe konerko hit a two run homerun. Two, crede should have knocked mauer into next week on the play at home. He had zero chance to slide around him. He should have put his chin down and went right thru him. Safe or out a message should have been sent right there.

  15. http://moon.google.com/ new satellite photos show the junk we left up there. case closed. your welcome.
  16. Why the hell is wendelsuck the home plate umpire?
  17. QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Aug 4, 2005 -> 04:32 PM) that was actually ruled as "rollins stealing home". At least that's what it said on sportsline.com They ended up changing it to a passed ball on barrett.
  18. My guess would be that if Carl can't go for the next two or three days Blum will play first and Kong will dh.
  19. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Aug 4, 2005 -> 05:07 PM) Yeah they had him throwing it a bit more last year and at the beginning of this season but he started having some arm problems and they barred him from throwing it at all in games. He was put on the DL a little while ago with arm problems he got back recently and had been pitching out of the pen in Tacoma, which is just another reason why he was so impressive today he had been pitching out of the pen for the most part before he had been called up. I've got waiver claims on him in my two leagues. Hopefully he'll slip to me.
  20. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Aug 4, 2005 -> 04:55 PM) He hasn't been alowed to use it in games at all. He's been in the minors for 3 full seasons and han't been allowed to throw the slider in games hardly at all. They're really using kid gloves with him, you don't want a 19 year old tweaking his elbow throwing a slider. i believe he was throwing it until he started having some arm trouble either this year or last year, but i could be wrong since i'm going on third hand info.
  21. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Aug 4, 2005 -> 04:02 PM) If you watched the game and still think he's overrated then you don't know baseball. He looked dominate to me outside of the 1st inning. The angle that he comes down from on his 4-seamer is ridiculous considering how he was almost exclusively throwing fastball. He looked nervous in the 1st inning and had control problems but after that he found his contol and dominated. 5 IP, 3 H, 2BBs and he's overrated? GMAFB. He wasn't even allowed to use his best pitch, his slider.

    25% Hybrid by 2010

QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Aug 4, 2005 -> 02:38 PM) Completely true. And hopefully by 2010 we have a clearer view of the technology for renewable hydrogen. What are the chances that ginger ale will be prominently involved?
  23. I agree with the thread title. The Griffey deal never happened.
  24. I agree. I also think because we've played soooo many close games our nerves are frayed. Messes up our minds.
