Is it true that carnival folk keep their food in a bucket that has the word "vomit" written on it so nobody steals it? So, what's your favorite carny ride? I like the viking boat thing that swings back and forth. good times.

QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Jun 10, 2005 -> 09:02 AM) "...and so it was brought foward by baseball prophet Joe Sheehan. In the name of the father, son, and holy spirit." :rolly As long as Scotty is on base messing with the pitcher's mindset, and scoring runs, the Sox will continue to win. If these numbers don't take in account how a base runner alters a pitcher's mindset, what is the point in discussing them? A thing to remember is that percentage can change based on overall run production. If baseball as a whole is scoring less runs than the percentage drops because getting a runner in scoring position carries a higher premium. I think that is what I read somewhere. edit: Santo, I meant to reply to the person you replied to.

Didn't you guys hear? Pods sucks cause he has a s***ty slugging %.

QUOTE(mreye @ Jun 10, 2005 -> 09:21 AM) I turned on the Christian station, they were talking about how Jesus can't find tickets. I'm sure Mark Prior can rustle up a few tickets.

QUOTE(Steff @ Jun 9, 2005 -> 10:57 PM) I don't doubt Barry said something.. to the degree Kittle is remembering it is what I question. That makes sense. It did happen a long time ago. Maybe Bonds said it in a joking manner. I wonder if Matt Williams will comment at all.
-
QUOTE(Steff @ Jun 9, 2005 -> 05:35 PM) No.. that's not my stance. sorry for misinterpreting your post. It seems that you do have some issue with Kittle that you question him moreso than barry. Is that a correct statement? It's obvious that Bonds does indeed sign for white people. I don't think that is in dispute. would you mind elaborating on your stance. I understand if you can't because you don't want to divulge privy info.

QUOTE(Steff @ Jun 9, 2005 -> 05:01 PM) Hoped he had just said "he's a liar".. but that wouldn't be Barry. I saw your post on WSI on this subject and your stance on the matter seems to be that Barry has signed things for white people so that means that Kittle is a liar. Why isn't it possible that Barry made the comment just to be an ass on that particular day? Just because he has signed for white people doesn't automatically mean he didn't make the comment. This could be easily solved if the journalists went to either matt williams or dusty and ask them what happened since they supposedly heard the convo. I don't know either bonds or kittle personally so I'm only going on what i've read.

QUOTE(Steff @ Jun 3, 2005 -> 05:20 PM) 3 hours late and in the wrong thread.. It's all in the timing.

QUOTE(Wedge @ Jun 3, 2005 -> 05:14 PM) More like, Untradeables. Show some respect for the player with the longest home run ever at the cell.

QUOTE(Steff @ Jun 3, 2005 -> 05:10 PM) If not for his injury I still believe he would have been fine. I'm sure I'm the only one here who feels that way though.. and in hindsight I am happier that AJ is here. If Sandy wasn't filing for social security, he would still be the starting catcher for the Sox..

QUOTE(Steff @ Jun 3, 2005 -> 05:10 PM) Day late and $1 short.. My delivery was better.

QUOTE(Steff @ Jun 3, 2005 -> 05:05 PM) I thought this was cleared up already.. it was Borchard that was untouchable. Reed was not on the 3 year board. I think Borchard is still a member of the "Untouchables".

QUOTE(Steff @ Jun 3, 2005 -> 05:04 PM) He was until AJ was traded for, wasn't he? And Kenny Williams was once the starting third baseman for the Sox. The fact that they signed AJ says to me they didn't want Ben Davis being the starting catcher.
-
Ben Davis WILL BE the starting catcher for the Sox.

QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 03:04 PM) No love here, Marsh. Usually 1st round picks are protected for a little while, I was wondering out loud. oh, ok. If I remember correctly we traded one of our recent first rounders to the Mets. The college closer dude. -

QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 02:55 PM) Just a thought, does trading for Chavez make Fields expendable in the near future?? Where does all the Josh Fields love come from? Can somebody fill me in please. -
QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 02:28 PM) well not really, b4 just had a bad infection, than got beamed in the head... more bad luck than injury prone. The guy has a black cloud over his head. He is prone to get injured.
-
I can't see the A's throwing a ton of money at him if they suspected he was juicing.
-
I didn't read the article but he always looked like a human being to me and he wasn't hitting 50 homers a year. This is a great buy low situation for the sox. He has good career numbers, he's fairly young, and he started off the season well below career numbers. Get him and don't look back. Not to mention gold glove defense and good clubhouse guy from all I've read.

QUOTE(jerseysox @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 02:06 PM) i was going to say they are going down like hookers in the back of a movie theatre, but yours is good too. morneau is simply day-to-day, just like the rest of us What theater do you go to?

QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 01:57 PM) If some of you guys want the Sox to acquire fat contracts, how about Abreu? I imagine it's just as likely for him to be traded to the Sox as is a trade of Chavez for just Crede and McCarthy. I think we could give up less to get Chavez. Abreu is just a beast right now. He is having the season everyone was expecting Beltran to have. Plus I think 3b is a harder position to fill than corner outfielder. Abreu is def. the better player of the two, no doubt. -
QUOTE(jerseysox @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 01:26 PM) I don't know what goes on in Minnesota, but I just saw that Morneau left the game early on. Does anyone know what happened? The guy is a walking calamity. He gives injury prone a whole new meaning.
-
QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 12:39 PM) Because is coming off of a serious injury, has a hip injury, has 3 ML ABs all year to go along with hitting under .200 in 50 minor league ABs, and hasn't looked sharp yet. And despite all of that, they didn't give him one fastball. That is very telling, especially since K-Rod has a plus fastball.

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 12:18 PM) Why would you pitch to Frank. He is a future HOF and hits to all fields. Behind him you have a guy who hasnt seen a pitch he doesnt like. Pulls the ball only. Tomahawks the ball at his head. And spins like a top. Maybe because he's only had three at bats at the Major league level this year. Maybe because walking him brings the winning run to the plate. I agree with you though, I wouldn't have pitched to him, my point was more about what frank brings to this offense.
