QUOTE(RockRaines @ Sep 9, 2005 -> 01:31 PM) he needs a good nickname though Baby Huey just isnt cutting it. Bobby Jenks, The Heavy Heat

What a coincidence, over the weekend one of his movies that I had not seen In a looooong time was on. He was an out of work actor in hollywood and after his car stereo is stolen him and his buddy (river phoenix?) decide to go out and catch criminals using a video camera. They have this whole production about Pesci being the leader of a vigilante group the s.o.s. and his code name is jerhico. i cant believe i watched it but i was bored and it was pretty bad good, if ya know what i mean.

I'm surprised at that lineup. I thought ozzie would get a bunch of subs in. Is anderson back with the team? I would of liked to see him get the start over timo., but other than that It's good.

QUOTE(JimH @ Sep 3, 2005 -> 12:11 PM) It pretty much was confirmed the issue of broadcasters came up during White Sox negotiations with the Score. Just to get things straight are the announcers employees of the radio station or the sox? who signs the paychecks? Or does all that change based on the contracts with the stations.
-
From previous posts I thought that it was the Sox that controlled the hiring and firing of broadcasters and the radio or tv stations merely signed off on it. It seems that it is just the opposite. I imagine that during negotiations with the Score the issue of broadcasters came up. I would guess that this decision had probably been made the second the deal was made. JMO of course.

You guys should check this out. Easy Money! http://www.catholicintl.com/epologetics/ar...eochallenge.htm Good Luck.

I wonder how the players feel when they see this kind of lineup. Especially the starting pitcher.
-
If this team blows it they might have to cancel soxfest next year out of fear for their lives. ya know the whole win or die trying campaign.
-
I've been following the game on the computer. I swear, 99% of the time when I look at it our hitters are either 0-2 or 1-2. Also this is the second straight el duque start that ozzie has left him in too long.

All those series early on where we would win the first two and put all of the scrubs in for the third game and lose are kicking us in the ass right now. Keep the bench players sharp, rest the starters for the long haul is what we were told. Who on this team is benefiting from this crap-ass theory right now?
-
The offense has been the weak link to this team since game one. Despite having outstanding pitching, both starting and relief, the first half how many games did we have to win by one or two runs? Plus the defense was outstanding. These guys just aren't goning to hit. If we're going to close out this year strong it's going to be on the backs of the pitching and defense.
-
We went from having a top tier offense the last few years with crappy pitching to the exact opposite. The offense of the last few years wasn't balanced though. We had a bunch of right handed sluggers. If we had Pods, Iguchi along with guys like c.lee, thomas ordonez we would be killing teams like the Cardinals have this year and last. The problem is the sox are forced to improve through trades instead of the FA market so they are always subtracting while adding guys.
-
The ONLY positive about our horrid play is the fact that we had such a huge lead to begin with. If we were only six or seven games up when our chemistry somehow faltered we would be in a huge funk and we would additionally be six or seven games back.

Is it just me or does the Score670 suck now?

QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Aug 28, 2005 -> 08:12 PM) All I know is that listening to Mike North is like nails on a chalkboard. I cannot believe that he is so popular and he heads their morning show. B&B and Lawrence Holmes are good enough reason... really if you work it right, there is a full day of scheduling to listen to ESPN 1000 - Mike & Mike in the morning (until 9) Silvy and Carmen until 10 SCORE - Boers and Bernstein 10-2 Mully and Buffone until 3 (this gives you your days Bears fill) ESPN 1000 - Mac, Jurko, and Harry 3-Sox game this usually works very well, mixes up the discussion, and keeps me happpy all day! that is how i work the dial during the day too, but B&B are moving to 2-6pm next week. it's gonna screw up everything. -
QUOTE(Heads22 @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 02:15 PM) I'd be lying if I said that what players have said about the site have nothing to do with it. However, we didn't start talking about it til posters and other fans brought it up. I understand what you are saying, but again, we are doing this so Soxtalk is an enjoyable place to come again. You wouldn't believe how sick a lot of the mods and admins were of coming here.

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 01:31 PM) Of course, if we want to be part of more things like Core of the Core in the future, it doesn't hurt to be in good standing with front office officials. I am fine with the policy, seriously, I welcome less personal attacks as long as everyone is treated the same. The only thing that is rubbing me the wrong way is the motivation behind the new player bashing policy. What you say above, along with mentioning how players don't care for certain things written say that there is more to it than just the people here. Personally, I think this is the main reason for the change, you guys disagree. fine. I've said what I wanted to say and now I'm dropping it. Thank you for your replys.

QUOTE(kapkomet @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 01:26 PM) No, that's someone's opinion about a newsworthy event. Sexual innuendo about Timo and Ozzie isn't, and crosses the line. Look, it's common sense. Most of you know what's right and not right, so use a little common sense and there will be no problems. Being serious and calling Natalee a whore/slut and saying she got was she deserves is o.k. Joking that Timo and Ozzie are gay because Timo is playing is vulgar and crosses the line. This is common sense? Sounds like the exact opposite.

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 12:51 PM) We're a hell of a lot more worried about losing exceptional posters who think this place is a s***hole. The staff is on good terms with people we know within the Sox, and the players. We're not worried about that. Heads22 wrote: Some comments and posts in game threads lately have gotten the staff talking. Watch for less and less tolerance from the mod team when posters make comments that Sox players "should have their arms broken" or when there is sexual innuendo made about a player. There is no faster way to discredit a website and its posters than with thoughtless comments. Believe it or not, players have read the site, and some have commented both to me and other posters that comments directed at players with the thought of an 10 year old leave many people disgusted, including the players themselves. You can show your displeasure with the play of the team. There is no reason to demean a player as an individual or send a "f*** You" their way, unless, of course, you want to be considered an idiot by the majority of intelligent posters here. Alex Who exactly is discrediting the site? Sox management? Sox players? Why should we care if they discredit the site? Isn't this a "fan" site? It seems that "outside forces" are putting pressure on this to be done. Am I wrong?

I was kidding about this being wsi jr., that's why it is in green. QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 10:46 AM) How about this scenario. LF Everett CF Pods Rf Die DH Gload 1B Pop Up Paulie QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 11:12 AM) I see you are newish here. Leave the nicknames out of the players, please. Is this degrading? defiling? Yasny wrote: "Don't bring up your constitutional right to freedom of speech unless you are willing to go the Supreme Court with it. Freedom of speech on a privately operated message board is a myth. " You are the only one that brought it up. I claimed no such thing. I said it was censorship. Do you disagree? If you guys are interested in being able to rub elbows with players and being on the good side of Sox management type folk then more power to ya. I hope you get the attention/special treatment/access you are looking for.
-
So, what are the White Sox offering for the censoring of things like "pop up paulie" and "crediocre". Man, throw someone a bone like "Core of the Core" and see how fast things change. I hope the "respectability" and "credibility" of the new WSI junior is worth it.

It's always exiting to see the young guys make their debuts. Good luck to them all.

QUOTE(YASNY @ Aug 27, 2005 -> 02:03 AM) For the record, EJ. Green doesn't make it acceptable. Baseball players offended by sexual innuendo? The same players that force rookies to wear dresses and has a player bring in extra large women's panties insinuating you have to have sex with a fat chick in order to break a streak? If they are claiming that posts here look like a ten year old has written them it is only because they are all too familiar with that exact behavior themselves. That said, I personally don't make those references, and it's your guys website to make whatever rules you want. But there is something disconcerting about making board policy based on what the players feel is acceptable or unacceptable. All in all I enjoy reading this website and there is a ton of good info here.
