I don't know how much blame Walker should get when the team sucks or how much credit he should get when we hit everything, but I do know that when a team slumps for a extended period of time it's a lot easier to bring in a new hitting coach than new players.

QUOTE(trexer @ May 17, 2005 -> 01:06 PM) Are you present when Walker is coaching or able to keep tabs on him? Do you know what he's trying to teach the players? If not, then you don't know what the hell you're talking about. Hitters will always be in slumps from time to time and as for Dye, he had a severe injury that either takes a long time to get over or perhaps limits what he can do for the rest of his career. None of this has anything to do with just who the hitting coach is. Try to talk about just what you do know about instead of talking about stuff you are not in a position to make judgments of others. Greg?

QUOTE(knightni @ May 17, 2005 -> 01:09 PM) Can you show me stats proving that the #8 guy actually gets that many more at-bats than the #9 guy? Does it make that much of a difference in the overall hitting stats? Juan has been shown that he get on base more than Crede, in the past. So, even if Pods fails to do more than bunt Uribe over to 2nd, Iguchi can still knock him in. Crede is an out waiting to happen, more often than not. even if it only adds up to 15 extra at-bats a year it's worth doing it. you say yourself that crede is an out waiting to happen, isn't this the guy you want batting last? juan always looks more dangerous at the plate than crede, plus the fact that juan can drive the ball to right field where anything on the outer half of the plate to crede is a miss or a popup.

QUOTE(Jabroni @ May 17, 2005 -> 01:07 PM) Uribe isn't exactly lighting the world on fire right now. Regardless, I don't think he should ever be batting that high in the lineup. He just isn't a disciplined hitter and swings at almost everything. it's a small sample but he's killing the ball with runners on this year, and his career numbers show he's much better with runners on.
-
I don't understand why everyone wants Uribe to bat last. Most seem to think he should be last cause he's faster than crede. This doens't make sense to me because 1. will crede get on base enough in front of pods to make any kind of difference in keeping pods from stealing. 2. regardless of whether uribe or crede is on second in front of pods, i don't see uribe stealing third anyway. i think it comes down to who you would rather see up at the plate. i would rather uribe get that extra at bat a game than crede.

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ May 17, 2005 -> 12:47 PM) That was sarcasm. Having the SLOWEST guy on the team batting in front of the fastest guy in the leauge is dumb. Where did I say konerko should bat last?
-
QUOTE(Tony82087 @ May 17, 2005 -> 12:34 PM) Good idea. Lets have Paul bat 9th in front of Pods.....batting 9th is an important part of the lineup, and thats why I like Juan there. Just like there are some guys that can't handle the pressure of batting at the front of the order, I think Uribe is just the opposite. Most games he doesn't even get his first at bat til the third inning. I think Uribe would feed off the pressure of batting fourth and excel at it. I think he loses concentration batting last and getting the least amount of at bats per game.

Lineup I'd like to see on a temp. basis til frank comes back. 1. Pods 2. the gooch 3. ARow 4. Uribe 5. Everett 6. AJ 7. PK 8. Dye 9. Crede

QUOTE(Jabroni @ May 17, 2005 -> 08:54 AM) Borchard? LOL. He's hitting .190 for Charlotte with 8 walks and 48 strikeouts... http://www.minorleaguebaseball.com/app/mil...milb&pid=400021 He is garbage. yeah but he had a hit yesterday. so he's on fire!

The more I think about it, Dye is exactly the type of player we were trying to get rid of. Incredibly streaky, right handed, dead pull hitter, tries to jack everything out of the park. He's the right handed version of Valentin, either he's gonna k or hit a bomb. Guess which one he is gonna do a lot more of.

Obviously Walker is gonna back his guys, that's no surprise. What I'm getting sick of is hearing how konerko, crede, rowand etc. are so hard on themselves, and they put more pressure on themselves and so on. What needs to stop is this attitude after making an out of slamming the bat down, putting thier head down and jogging to first. I wish ozzie would pull them out of the game right there. Every at bat is not life or death and when you act like it is you are putting undo pressure on yourself.

QUOTE(tonyho7476 @ May 17, 2005 -> 08:11 AM) How about Brian Anderson? Drop Timo's useless ass and bring up Brian Anderson...any takers? send walker back down, he really isn't going to help this team win any games. I seriously wouldn't mind seeing borchard come up, can he play first? It's going on a month and a half of crap from Dye and Konerko.

I think it's safe to say that the pitching domination honeymoon is over. I think the staff will still be good but not 1 or 2 runs per game good. Also I'm not gonna be too quick to jump on the pitching because I think that they have been responsible for like 75% to 80% of our wins this year. It's the offense that needs to wake up.
-
The way Dye is hitting right now has me pining for joltin joe borchard. That is not a good thing.
-
This would explain why he's been garbage at the plate recently.

QUOTE(Jabroni @ May 11, 2005 -> 10:53 PM) By the way, is Ozuna great at avoiding tags or what? He dove home and avoided a tag a few weeks back and he avoided a tag by the 1st baseman today. He is great at that. And one more thing... Ozuna is making Timo obsolete. Dye could also find himself with a few more day off too because of the Ozuna Express.

QUOTE(JimH @ May 10, 2005 -> 02:25 PM) That said, the error by Dye last nite was very boneheaded ... as was his at bat late in the game. Totally agree. That was a horribly unagressive swing on I believe a 3-1 pitch.

QUOTE(T R U @ May 10, 2005 -> 09:21 AM) Alright ill give you that, but IMO they are still a bad team and we should take 2/3 from them I agree, that we should win series against tampa.
-
QUOTE(T R U @ May 10, 2005 -> 09:18 AM) I dont know what you have been watching but Tampa Bay is far from a good team.. They are 12-21 and have pathetic pitching (team ERA of 5.94) I just dont get how thats not a picture perfect example of bad team Well, after their win last nite they are a .500 team at home. So they are a decent home team and a s***ty road team.
-
Last nite they got the clutch two out hits and we didn't. No biggie, although the D-Rays might have some strained necks today from looking up so much from all the pop ups.

QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ May 9, 2005 -> 05:27 PM) All the men in my family, including myself, can't leave the house without Carmex. We are really thinking about getting some help. It's bad. Seriously, it's bad. I should buy stock in the company that makes Chapstick.

Chapstick:Vanilla Mint flavor I feel like a crack head in need of a fix if I don't have any.

QUOTE(marsh @ May 9, 2005 -> 05:05 PM) Both Contreras and El Duque better keep Crawford and Lugo and Sanchez and Huff off base this series 'cause neither one can hold a runner on. fixored

I will be listening to that rather than DJ. Blasphemy!

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ May 9, 2005 -> 05:05 PM) My vote is worry about this when Frank is ready. In Veruca Salt voice But we want to discuss it NOWWWWWW.
