QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 10, 2015 -> 06:47 PM) Clearly you agree that his failure to do so throughout the rest of the game is a fireable offense right? Either that or you're going to stop this? Biding his time. Waiting for the big finish. If he didn't call for enough runs by the end of the game, then you criticize him. Right now I think he's just building the drama.

You've got to like Ventura calling for the double right there

QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Apr 10, 2015 -> 06:35 PM) "Wanting it more" is used so often in sports but it's one of the most meaningless buzz phrases out there. yes. that was sarcasm.
-
Maybe if our baseball players "wanted it more" when they swung they would get hits instead of outs

Great call by Ventura to have Garcia throw out the runner

Twins haven't scored a run yet this year.

Didn't see Quintana hitting Cain- was it intentional?
-
Wasn't watching early. How is it that Cain got hit by a pitch again?

QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Mar 27, 2015 -> 01:25 PM) Makes me think the Sox have done a really poor job figuring out how to make it simple for folks. They need something better than "take the train". I would disagree. There's certainly better parking than for Cubs games. Do you imagine there is a better situation if you try to park at Yankee Stadium? Or Citi Field? Or Fenway Park? Or in an other legitimately population-dense city General rule for going someplace where 40,000 people are: if you can help it, don't have a car with you. I live a few miles from Dodger Stadium. I am sure driving in and out of there sucks amazingly bad.

QUOTE (raBBit @ Apr 7, 2015 -> 07:25 PM) What was everyone's take on that ball that got through Micah and Alexei. I wasn't really sure who to blame there. Alexei's fault. He screened him. If Micah had known in advance that Alexei was going to screen him and miss the ball, perhaps he would have changed into hockey goalie mode just to keep it in the infield, but in the split second he's positioning himself to try to make the out. -
Cain accuses Shark of intentional plunking

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 7, 2015 -> 11:07 AM) Part of the problem with doing that is when they call you in to see if it was intentional, it's a little harder to say no. This works fine. No need to get suspended, and the Royals might not act like they won the WS after hitting a homer to make a 3-0 game 4-0. But it certainly means someone on the Sox is getting drilled tomorrow. Abreu, I'll assume. If Shark did it on purpose, and I don't assume he did, it was idiotic. Not to mention the fact that you'd be putting a base stealer on base in the 5th inning of a 4 run game. -

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Apr 6, 2015 -> 11:20 PM) Looked like a pretty obvious pegging. He was going inside, and he did hit him (Alex Gordon earlier in the game hit himself), but if Shark is putting Cain on base for no reason when he's down 4 runs then Ventura and Cooper will need to teach him baseball. -

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 6, 2015 -> 09:08 PM) When he did get on, you just have no excuse getting picked off on the 2nd throw when you were almost nabbed by the first and you're facing a 4-0 deficit against a World Series ace on his game. Yeah that stunk. Hopefully he got that out of the way in his first game and that's it. How is the 1st base coach not just yelling at him "you're not stealing, we're down by 4. Do anything other than get picked off"? -

After giving up a home run to Moustakas to go down 4 - 0 he wanted to put Cain on base? I don't buy that. -
How do the White Sox stack up - payroll vs MLB
Vance Law replied to Steve9347's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Maybe the luxury tax money should just go directly to the smallest market teams with the requirement it is spent on players. -
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 3, 2015 -> 09:51 PM) Chacin, McGowan, Penny, Wandy Rodriguez, dumpster diving time. I'd ALMOST say just throw Beck out there and see what he can do...but you just know that's not going to happen with Danks' contract. Or Drabek. Or Carroll. Or even Viciedo or Leury pitching. I heard Adam Dunn's available as well... Carlos Rodon

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Mar 30, 2015 -> 02:42 PM) 80-82 Although the fade comes way too late to deal any pieces at the ASB like Samardzija. suffering from clinical pessimism -
QUOTE (Señor Ding-Dong @ Mar 16, 2015 -> 03:06 PM) I think we'll see him in a Sox uni at some point this year. I honestly think he's our best option now for 4th/5th OF. He has never manage to hit well at AA.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Feb 28, 2015 -> 02:11 PM) It's not an elbow, shoulder, or arm injury. Should be back for Opening Day, not too concerned This is the internet. There's no room for "not too concerned" here. Everything must be the worst. 3 weeks is the worst. Also, it is definitely more than 3 weeks. Injuries only happen to my teams. Kevin Durant is not injured. Kobe is not out for the season. Michael Saunders is not out for 6 weeks. Josh Hamilton does not have a suspension coming. Belisario can get out of the pool cleanly. The White Sox have not been the team that has suffered the fewest injuries over the last decade. This has pushed Rodon onto the opening day roster. We just lost a year of team control, he's not ready for the pressure, he'll have to be shut down early, the season is over.

QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Feb 19, 2015 -> 05:12 PM) The irrational exuberance on Micah Johnson is one of the most inexplicable things I've seen. He can't field 2B. Until he does, he's a 25th man, at best. If he gets 400 PA in Charlotte and goes 300/340/440 with 30 out of 40 SB and the reports on his defense are better -- than fine, pencil him in for 2016. Until then he's just a middling prospect IMO. He's not 22, he's 24, that's a major blow. He's older than Sanchez FFS. MLB.com has Micah as the #2 second base prospect in all of baseball.

QUOTE (raBBit @ Feb 23, 2015 -> 05:11 PM) What is interesting to me is the Red Sox have so many options in the OF. Hanley is LF, Betts/Castillo in CF/RF, Jackie Bradley Jr., Allen Craig, Daniel Nava and Shane Victorino. Boston has writers saying Victorino is going to start but I don't buy that. At least a couple of these guys are going to be on the way out two months from now and if the Red Sox were pushed to DFAing or trading Victorino+cash I would be interested. Great makeup, great baserunner, RH bat to give LaRoche a break against lefties, etc. Obviously he has injury issues but he was awesome as recent as '13. If the Red Sox go with one of their younger guys and can't move him/DFA him the Sox would be the fourth team to get a crack at him. I agree here and there's also the Dodgers and Padres with too many outfielders. Perhaps other teams. I tend to think the Sox will wait it out and make a deal during spring training to pick up an outfielder who is squeezed out elsewhere that will be better than our internal options Shuck and Michael Taylor.
