That's just terrible value, what an org. -
I put ketchup on grilled italian sausages (along with peppers and onions), that goes really well.

QUOTE (shipps @ Jun 19, 2017 -> 04:29 PM) I can eat avocado on pretty much anything. Its butter without all the bad fats. I actually crave avocado very often. If avocados are on sale, I will literally change what I'm shopping for to build out meals involving avocado. Otherwise I just buy 1 or so for salads and such.

2 weeks into school, after having a pretty eventful couple of months before getting to campus. Yea, this was definitely a lack of judgement by him. And this isn't me on a high horse, s*** Illinois just had 3 football players kicked out due to armed robbery arrests. College kids do stupid things all the time (a bit shocked I avoided any of these charges in my college tenure), hopefully he learns some lessons before it becomes any bigger of a deal. -

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 19, 2017 -> 01:31 PM) Brilliant I really do hope that this isnt the start of a bad streak for him legally. It would be such a waste of potential of a young man. I also don't see him getting dinged that hard for this first offense. -

Jeremiah Tilmon arrested for minor in possession, yikes. -
QUOTE (KagakuOtoko @ Jun 15, 2017 -> 05:24 PM) I have networking connections but I don't know how many would be willing to divulge that type of personal information. Quick question(s) about salary negotiations: If they say the job pays between X and Y, is it dangerous to go Y+? Yes, and honestly if you don't want less than Y now or in the future don't take that job. All you're doing is setting up for the company to tell you no matter how good you are at the job, you are at the brink of what they will pay you. That means likely low increases in pay each year from now on, or until you get a different job.

I just played a game with friends on if you had 3 places you could live (and only be) for the rest of your life, where would you choose? I'd apply my answers and buy places in those locations, travel where I want to and the rest would go to charity/investments for the kids/grandkids.

I knocked my phone interview out of the park, working on scheduling an in-person interview now. Still getting my head around a potential move out of Chicago though, there would be a lot of work just to figure that all out. I would love Milwaukee but owning a place here makes it complicated.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 26, 2017 -> 02:46 PM) Is there anyone out there who's company could use an IT Project Manager? A good friend of mine is looking for a new position. He's fantastic at it. Those are always in demand, I'll let you know if we have any open positions for it. A good idea is to work with a contracting company as well, many companies do test runs with PMs to make sure they are who they want.

QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jun 11, 2017 -> 11:43 PM) I've watched Arrested Development many times, but I recently got my girlfriend to start watching it. We've been watching it together for the past few weeks, and man, that show is way funnier than I remember. A great re-watch option for sure. Every time I rewatch it I pick up jokes I missed, it's crazy.

I definitely lean liberal for social issues, probably lean a bit conservative for fiscal policies. But I do think that at this point in my life I put a lot more emphasis on the social issues and therefore I've voted much more democrat than republican (though it's not a clean sweep).

If McD was the first choice, then they stumbled into a better one with Holtmann. -
QUOTE (Brian @ Jun 8, 2017 -> 06:26 PM) TJ Miller leaving Silicon Valley will suck. I'm not really sure how well the show will do without him.

Whitman's team had reached out to Underwood's agent, but his agent wouldn't pass anything along to Underwood (or he wouldn't listen) until their season was over. Once it was, and BU had a meeting with his AD that went awry, the interest became very real on his end. It moved fairly quickly after that. In other words, Whitman was interested but BU didn't give the signal back until after his team was eliminated. So no, Whitman didn't have it locked down before the Groce firing. In fact, Whitman's team, smartly, went and talked to an entire list of coaches to guage interest and dollar figures. That's where the whole Cuonzo Martin had an illini offer thing came from. They didn't offer anyone else but they sure as hell were reaching out. -
Hoping for all the best man!

QUOTE (Yoda @ May 25, 2017 -> 01:54 PM) I feel like I'm on the same boat as you are right now. I'm the Lead Help Desk analyst for our support center but my supervisor is so busy with the Desktop team that he's given me all responsibilities for the support center (scheduling/staffing, reporting, supervising the staff, employee reviews, etc.) I go above and beyond with everything and I'm eager to always learn but man been in this spot for almost 2 years now. There hasn't been an official support center manager since the last one left 2 years ago and I've been holding my breath on that spot but I think I've overdone what I'm actually responsible for that management is content with how things are at the moment. Good leadership recognizes it and rewards it, bad leadership just takes advantage of it.
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 25, 2017 -> 12:27 PM) I'd take that as a sign too. They sure talked the talk for years, it's been pretty tough for me to admit it but it is what it is.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 25, 2017 -> 12:26 PM) I'll PM you, I know of an opening in Arlington Heights Awesome thanks!

QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ May 25, 2017 -> 11:35 AM) What other big man is available? Is he even good? I have heard this about the Florida kid, Figueroa I believe. There was a small drop of knowledge of there being a target, but no names were offered yet. -
QUOTE (RockRaines @ May 25, 2017 -> 11:42 AM) Oh man, you going somewhere else? I'm looking pretty hard right now, I've been struggling with my leadership for a couple years but was hopeful I could transition elsewhere in IT under leaders who could develop me/offer leadership opportunities. It hasn't happened, and I just had a sit down with my supervisor where I asked for more responsibility/title as a team lead under him as someone else in IT got a similar title. It wouldn't require any direct reports and I said I didn't expect any raise for it, it would just be focused on giving me a more clear path on getting into leadership. Their answer was a blunt no (and my reviews/HR standing/9 box crap are all stellar). Pretty much I took it as a message of where my leadership actually views me.

I just had a screener with an IT recruiter for a company near Milwaukee, was actually a pretty good interview. He obviously couldn't go into depth with the technology but had good questions and knew what he was looking for. By far one of the better screeners I've talked to. I should not that he is an in-house recruiter for their IT department, many screeners I've talked to are 3rd party and pretty bad. And I'm actually excited for this position, would be a good step forward from what I heard.

QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ May 25, 2017 -> 11:31 AM) Illinois now has what, 9 scholarship players? Jeez. I don't think they will get Agau, but I have heard they have another big man target that they are trying to keep quiet. They are also going after that 4star kid from Florida who decommitted from New Mexico St. -

JCL officially leaving Illinois. I still don't get it from his perspective, he would've had a huge opportunity at Illinois. Must not have liked the intensity that Underwood brings and demands. -

There are also rumors that Illinois would block JCL going to Depaul, which they can now do since Depaul is on the schedule. So not so fast on Depaul. He's looking at other schools as well.
