QUOTE (Iwritecode @ Sep 20, 2017 -> 12:53 PM) I always take the time to open a new tab and type the web address in directly rather than trusting the link in an email. Even if I think it's not fake. Always the best course of action, but many people don't still. At my last company we ran internal phishing campaigns to get metrics and educate our salesforce, 70% of the salesforce provided their password in the phishing email. We were floored, and we tried to use that metric to back up asks for things like MFA.

LOL, that situation is just all sorts of bad. I work in Identity and Access Management, it's STILL hard to convince IT people (much less business people) on the power and risk of bad Identity management and security as a whole.
-
Sounds like a phishing scheme, actually kind of clever when you think about it. Bombard a user, including fake receipt confirmations, to make them think they need to change their passwords. They probably hoped you would go through their fake BB email to reset your password, and then you'd be hacked.

QUOTE (Big Hurtin @ Sep 19, 2017 -> 02:18 PM) I wish they did something to differentiate the twins. It's not always clear which is which. I watched the first episode awhile back during their preview for it, and had the same reaction. Thought the bartender was actually joking about his twin for awhile. I'm intrigued enough to continue watching though.

QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Sep 19, 2017 -> 01:54 PM) Season 2 was pretty good as well. Haven't gotten into season 3 yet. LOVED S1 and S2, S3 was pretty good but didn't have the same draw. I missed the dynamic between the 2 DEA agents, and quite frankly I thought Pablo's actor was a huge reason for why it was successful.

Rick and Morty is soooo f***ing good.

QUOTE (Brian @ Sep 18, 2017 -> 07:11 AM) I'm 2-0 in both my leagues. Usually only do 1 but a buddy needed a 10th. Not used to this. I usually suck. LOL same exact thing on my end, just waiting for mass injuries or suck out of my teams to make up for the hot start.

We played close to 20 freshman against a ranked team on the road, wish we didn't look as bad as we did but really that was expected.

Comments from watching: What the f*** does the policeman have a personal AK for?? And how the f*** is that ok? How did they crash the SUV into that lightpost? Obviously missing a big chunk of visibility there but that seemed awkward. Clearly the officer had intent to kill. The system to protect cops runs deep.

I haven't rewatched TFA, but Netflix has Rogue One and was rewatching that a few weeks back. I forgot how boring the first half of that movie was, or at least when rewatching it. But man, that last 30-45 minutes of it was still incredible.

QUOTE (raBBit @ Sep 14, 2017 -> 04:18 PM) So with all the cord cutters, why has MLB Network, NFL Network, FS1 and NBCSN all have increases in viewership since 2012? https://www.google.com/amp/amp.awfulannounc...a-playoffs.html Because, IMO, sports viewership has become segmented. There is an absolute desire to watch games where you want, when you want. And those platforms fit that model. But that's only a fraction of what ESPN is and has been. I don't have the data around their game viewership but I would imagine that hasn't been hit as hard as their additional programming. SportsCenter can be consumed in 5 minutes on your social media platform now, there isn't any need for a 6 hour loop of a "what happened yesterday in sports" show. Too many people have access to that for free, in more places then just their TV now. So what does ESPN do to keep viewership when games aren't on? That's the big question.
-
QUOTE (raBBit @ Sep 14, 2017 -> 04:06 PM) Did you mean to direct this at me? I stated this hours before you did. Their force feeding of politics just exacerbated their viewership loss. If ESPN was right wing they'd be losing viewers too. It's more the inclusion of politics in their content in general than it is the fact that their bias is leftwing. Is that ESPN's fault or are they just feeding off of trends? Because of the social media platforms, politics have gone into essentially everything. Is ESPN not supposed to talk about Kaep when hundreds of thousands if not millions are arguing online about it? Because if they are "supposed" to talk about it, then where is the line drawn about what they should and should not touch? The fact is, politics has seeped into everything. It doesn't mean they should go fully into it, but fully ignoring the issues of today doesn't seem like the best idea either. And I really don't think that's ESPN's problem, there is a much larger issue when it comes to sports coverage. I do think there is still a market for a SportsCenter type platform, but moreso there is a growing market for better analysis and writing. It's why we see platforms like The Athletic growing so rapidly, and hiring the best writers away from companies like ESPN and CBS. The fact is, that whole media spectrum is going through a lot of painful changes, many of them were exacerbated because of a refusal to change earlier.

QUOTE (raBBit @ Sep 14, 2017 -> 03:35 PM) I wasn't talking about the physical standing of the corporate media HQs. Media is served through the medium of social media. Facebook, twitter, google, YouTube, etc. Good grief. I honestly didn't pick that up from what you wrote, just an FYI. I inferred it was around geo location and political influence from that area.

QUOTE (bmags @ Sep 14, 2017 -> 10:20 AM) Yeah I didn't mean I'm surprised by the push back but I find their arguments for not including this in a Chicago history to be crazy. The system that protects cops runs deep.

QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Sep 14, 2017 -> 10:27 AM) Why are liberals so obsessed with pointing out that Bernie Sanders is not a Democrat? It's just amazing. Or the infuriating part to me is that they claim this, and hate that he has the spotlight instead of other Dems and then BLAME him for it. For f***s sake, stop blaming him and figure out why your party members aren't getting the same reaction. Have some damn accountability and self awareness in your party.

QUOTE (Boogua @ Sep 10, 2017 -> 04:00 AM) I started having doubts, especially after last week, but now I think the Illini are actually going to be very good in the next year or two. Besides Crouch... He sucks. WKU clearly isn't as good as last year, but it felt great for the defense to make strides between weeks and with true freshmen no less. I'm not sure what McGee is doing thus far, the play calling has been pretty bad overall. Not sure if the OL will do anything against B10 opponents but we had a good run game with Epstein and Crouch (when used), yet we got cute and tried passes on 3 and short, etc. In a game like Saturday's, I'd rather just feed Epstein and mix in options rather than rely on Crouch's passing. The offense could be pretty brutal against the B10, they need to figure some things out quickly.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Sep 8, 2017 -> 09:26 AM) how many of these "financial professionals" are just salesmen recommending high fee funds that just happen to help their bottom line the most? this appears to be a "study" by a lobbying group for the financial professionals/salesmen whose profits would be negatively impacted by the rule and that piece is written by the guy in charge of the lobbying group, so maybe take his conclusions with a grain of salt. I work for a Financial investment mutual company now, I honestly wouldn't trust these guys without laws in place that make them specifically call out investments that make them more money. Way too much incentive to screw people over, I just think of the mortgage crisis and how brokers were pushing variable rates because they made 5x as much on them, why wouldn't these guys sell do something similar?

QUOTE (bmags @ Sep 7, 2017 -> 04:28 PM) Seems like everyone thinks Chicago is out, but this is what machines are made for. No f***ing way you could build in Nova/DC a campus that's required and deal with housing for the additions. Same with Boston. Toronto/ATL I all believe. ATL seems like a mess to live in, not saying Chicago has good infrastructure but it blows Atlanta out of the water from what I've heard. Not sure if Toronto has the pipeline of talent, but at the same time they may not be too worried about it because developers will go work for them no matter what.

NCAA is reviewing the rule around transfers and the sit out year. Personally, I think it should go away but with heavy stipulations around it, such as: -Student Athlete can only transfer once without a sit out period -Can only transfer after 2 years in a program -Student must be in academic good standing -Transfer signing day/period, limit when transfers can leave so coaches can plan on that time -Limit schools to accepting a max of 2 transfers per year, exceptions would be reviewed by NCAA There would be a big adjustment period to it, but I think it balances out some of the power back into the student's hands. The hypocrisy of coaches commenting on this is pretty silly. -
I fully expect Hahn to go bargain hunting in FA for potential deadline flips. So there should be some discussion around those signings and the deadline (hopefully) still. But the storm of trade talk is well beyond us.

QUOTE (Heads22 @ Sep 5, 2017 -> 09:05 PM) If Illinois would like to let us have Conditt, I'd appreciate it. I would be shocked at this point if Conditt doesn't go to ISU. -
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Sep 5, 2017 -> 08:26 AM) We really need to cut the cord with our Comcast cable, I'm embarrassed to admit how much we pay right now. All I really need is sports, and most of those channels seem available with Sling. And all the kids shows are on Amazon which we already have. What's the best internet company to use in Chicago? If we do pull the trigger, need to make sure the internet speed is on point. IF, and that's a big IF, you can, get Webpass. But it's so limited right now. I've used RCN in the past, and they sucked. Comcast was way better IMO.

Meh, I had extremely rude french people to me when I was in Paris (and quite frankly in other countries as well). Most in the service industry were very kind, but people on the city trains and such were pretty rude. It turned me off from what is really a beautiful city.
