I also don't understand the lack of previous playing time as a knock on Anderson, to me that makes it more impressive that he even got here and has done as well as he has. He will struggle, he's young, and yes more time in the minors may be needed, but what is he harming right now? Or next year? Or the year after that?

4 million/yr on average isn't nothing, but with the way our contracts are setup over the next, well forever right now, it really means jack. If TA turns into league average than you still have a valuable piece. Heck, you gotta play someone at short still, you probably could barely pay a decent vet project/filler that much per year. Honestly Pete, you have to relax on this man.

Rock, I get being wary of Carmax now for sure. I had looked at a few used cars back in 2012 and hated the dealers I talked to and how they treated me, figured Carmax was the safer route without the hassle but I definitely get the downsides more now.

Oof, John has given a lot to this country. Hope he gets at least a few good years still.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 20, 2017 -> 11:32 AM) WTF happened? I do not like Carmax. It was burning oil very quickly, brought it in a few times (one time they made things worse but loosening some piece that made my whole car shake). They pretty much couldn't find the issue so decided to do a full replace of the engine. Just hoping they don't screw it up and cause more issues. Their customer service has been good, but their techs aren't great from what I can tell.
-
I really liked it when I test drove it, but didn't seem quite as spunky as other Audis (probably shouldn't be). I've had huge issues with my used Q5, fortunately it's all covered with my Carmax warranty but it's been a pain. LOVE the car when I have it. Right now the entire engine is getting replaced, so thankful I got that warranty lol.

Like I said, I do think we came up a player short in the deal but at the same time I didn't think we would get someone as highly ranked/touted as Rutherford. It's possible Kahnle gives you someone like Rutherford by himself in the future but I don't think his value was there yet anyways. If he was closing for us in a year I think he would be building towards that type of value.
-
Disappointed that we didn't get a better prospect than Polo or an additional lottery ticket piece, but getting Rutherford was huge. I'd rather get a guy like him than 2 B prospects. I understand some of the angst here, but I do think the market is tougher on relievers this year (just look at the Nationals trade) for whatever reason.

They aren't the most flavorful thing but that's also what makes them great, really good complement to other flavors and adds that creamy texture while also bringing in good fats. What's not to love?

**SPOILER THREAD** GAME OF THRONES ** SPOILER THREAD **

Still think Baelish is open for a move for the right price. Besides that I don't think there is any other major house that is willing to ally with her. Jamie mentioned 3 kingdoms (maybe) that they control/ally with. This was before Euron came over so from my list it was Lannister, Baratheon, Tully. The last 2 are a major stretch, and even if they count their armies are decimated. -

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jul 17, 2017 -> 11:35 AM) rumors i have heard/read about the gift are 1. The Horn 2. The Sand Snakes(revenge for killing their daughter) 3. Gendry (the last challenge to the legitimacy of the throne for Cersei) 4. Varys/Tyrion (for betraying them to Dany) The last one i see as being the least probable because you simply cannot sneak in and grab either of them 1. Probably the best guess, the most valuable and has been mentioned in the books. Plus it makes the war more interesting. 2. Did they go with Dany or just send ships/troops? 3. At this point, does it matter? Her legitimacy isn't really the problem right now. 4. Agreed on not making logistical sense. -

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jul 17, 2017 -> 11:25 AM) Awesome, so does anyone else think Euron is going to get the Dragon's Horn? I don't see how else Cersai & company would stand a chance against Dany & her dragons. Yea I'm curious how they are going to introduce that (because it sure seems like something they will need to make any battles interesting). I would have thought it was going to be introduced earlier, but at this point I would guess they will do a quick intro/story around it. -

Finally found this thread, so Cersei is going to team up with Euron. Fully expect a sea battle soon, Euron's full fleet is already in King's Landing and Dragonstone is really close to there. Should have an idea of what happens for both sides pretty quickly. -
Solid episode of GoT, thought it had some really good parts and then a few cheesy parts but overall a good first episode back into it.

Do the White Sox now have the best farm system in MLB?
bigruss replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Hopefully it works out because Hahn is doing exactly what most fans asked for. It's pretty amazing the amount of talent he has brought in. -
Anyone use a property management company in Chicago that they would recommend?

If I went to Vegas myself I'd probably do Fremont over the strip. So much easier to casino hop, it's cheaper to gamble, and the pools are not as crazy busy/requiring reservations for seating.
-
Yea the weddings have already occurred in bunches, the babies are now starting to come as well. Still have plenty of friends who would hang out quite a bit but yea it's getting harder with a lot of them.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 26, 2017 -> 04:34 PM) Damn it, the guy is just fragile. Went to HS with him, his arm only cooperated for 1 outing a week back then. Thought it was damn impressive he even made it as long as he did in the majors as a reliever, considering how fickle his arm was.

QUOTE (KagakuOtoko @ Jun 25, 2017 -> 02:52 PM) Good stuff mate. Where are you moving? Milwaukee, which I love so I am really excited about it. Just dreading the moving/renting out my condo/missing friends stuff.

Thanks guys!! Gave my notice today and officially accepted the offer. My boss is out on PTO so went to my boss' boss to tell him, and man what an awkward, terrible conversation. He was shocked by it - I literally told HR that I was looking externally 2 weeks ago and I knew backchannels had been made to inform them that I had turned down an offer just 3-4 months ago. He took a crap on the position I told him I would have - Not even a "good luck" or well wishes for my success. Just said he wouldn't hire anyone with my new title (which may be true, but only for people like him really). Tried to sell me on staying with additional "leadership" opportunities - which was essentially just signing me up for more work without actually leading people or anything. I didn't want to burn any bridges so kept my mouth shut and was just thankful for the opportunities they did give but I walked out of that meeting and completed the acceptance as soon as I could. I'm in disbelief with how badly that meeting went.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 23, 2017 -> 09:59 PM) That's awesome, Russ! A good offer? Very solid offer, small bump up financially but a great opportunity in a company that is rock solid financially and I absolutely loved the people I interviewed with. Planning on accepting Monday. The team I'm on is about 4-5 times the size of my current team, it's pretty crazy. And I'll be the product manager for the technology, so hands off and focused on design, prioritization, user experience, etc. Very excited to hopefully make impactful changes.
