QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Feb 25, 2015 -> 10:22 PM) Kind of like the 1983 White Sox, haha. Actually, when Uthoff and Jok are playing well and they're running the floor and getting out in transition, they can be very fun to watch. When it's a slow-down, foul-riddled, physical game....then you're going to be watching the Aaron White free throw show instead. The basketball is ugly, the players, uglier. -

NIT here we come, sigh. Hill was dreadful, worst game for him all year. Also, Iowa is the ugliest team I think I've ever seen. -

Groce has pretty much said Colbert didn't bring it in practice. Morgan been worthless this game, along with Hill. Being down by 1 is amazing considering the difference in fouls. -
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 25, 2015 -> 03:37 PM) I am working with a company now whose IT department refused to greenlight project, despite the fact that if they don't get this done before a certain deadline, they won't be able to report capital levels to FINRA and the SEC. Ugh, that's awful, how they are even getting away with that is beyond me.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 25, 2015 -> 02:37 PM) It amazes me how many IT departments operate to the detriment of, or at the expense of, the companies they work for. It's really both sided, the company needs to view IT as a way to grow business, not just to keep it running. And that's a hard sell, as nothing you do in IT will actually make the company money unless you are selling IT services, at best it saves or enables the making of more money, but it is almost never direct. Thus IT can really get viewed as a way to just sustain business, not really enable it. Also, there are so many projects that get green lighted by execs that just suck up money and give IT and their ROI a terrible brand.

QUOTE (raBBit @ Feb 25, 2015 -> 02:45 PM) I doubt anyone could help, but it's worth a try. So my university has a strong stance against violating copyright laws, torrents, etc. Anyways, I was watching a movie last Monday night and I passed out. Tuesday morning I grabbed my laptop and brought to school and when I opened it up I still had the torrent host (Popcorn-Time) open. All of a sudden I wasn't able to get onto the wifi and realized my account has probably been barred as a result of using Popcorn-Time. So I called the IT department, they confirmed that was the issue and I set up an appointment with the assistant dean. She says I have to remove all torrenting programs from my computer or else I could receive a penalty. The thing is, I've had Popcorn-Time on my computer all year I just haven't opened it up while using the school wifi. Am I safe to keep the program on my computer or could the outsourced internet security agency pick it up when the application is inactive? They wouldn't have access to your laptop, just the traffic to/from it while on the school's network. So as long as it wasn't doing anything, then you would be fine.

QUOTE (dasox24 @ Feb 25, 2015 -> 02:08 PM) As for Lync, I dislike it a lot. Why can't I copy and paste normally? Is it just the version we use, or does everyone have that issue? And why doesn't Microsoft fix it? LOL, so true, do oyu get the weird bug where it copys something like 4 times into the chat? Love that.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Feb 25, 2015 -> 01:34 PM) Make you sure document all of that as well. You would probably like working in a smaller company some day, a little more freedom. Yea, problem/change management has been a chore over the last year because we've had a lot out issues IT wise (some freak incidents, some really bad planning/architecture, some on outsourcing to offshore and losing a lot of knowledge). But this one was really just on one sr mgr who is really just a pain in the ass, I'm sure he was with his boss when he got the request for approval and wanted to make some show about it. He's a flat out terrible manager, knows his stuff for his area, but terrible manager.

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Feb 24, 2015 -> 04:38 PM) Posting on Soxtalk...duh. Relationship thread? I'm drunk (motel 6) thread?

Goddamn working in IT can be frustrating, an emergency change of mine to reboot a hung server got denied by a sr leader because the test/implementation plan wasn't good enough. It's a damn reboot, how the f do you test that? And implementation plan? Start -> Restart server. Didn't really know where to put this, just needed to vent.

QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Feb 23, 2015 -> 10:10 PM) I don't know what's more awkward, glancing at your teacher's screen to see that he is also on Soxtalk, or seeing that he's reading your post... What's even more awkward is that this was posted at 10pm, what are you doing with that teacher!?

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Feb 23, 2015 -> 04:48 PM) Yeah dont you guys have that rolled out? Just hit up the lync admin I've dont large scale integrations and rollouts of O365 with the lync client and I've never seen that, but they are always changing the platform. They are switching the entire thing over to SAML from WS-Fed kind of silently. That would mean I would have to talk to the collaboration team, I didn't need that in my Monday It's amazing the amount of stuff going to SAML these days, it's really interesting seeing it's presence grow.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Feb 23, 2015 -> 10:44 AM) Russ, is it the 2.0 or the 3.0? The salesman was trying to push a 2.0 on me for some reason. I kept saying "ahh, I dunno if it's enough...I know I won't use the bigger engine all that much, but I want it there for when I need it." He kept telling me I wouldn't really need it. So then I said "Look, it's not even just the engine...I want the trim package that comes with the 3.0. For whatever reason, the 2.0 still looks 'too old' for me." Then I pointed to the 3.0 with the black optics package. He said, "well, if you want the car to look bad, that is the one you want." So I was sitting there trying to justify the extra $8-10k price tag, fully knowing I may as well just admit to myself, knowing there really was no way to justify it. Luckily, they had two 3.0's...a white with black optics and a daytona gray with black optics. I told them I thought I liked the white one...but they were willing to let the gray one go for several grand cheaper. Apparently someone had custom ordered it and then backed out and it was sitting in a dock in Houston for awhile, and then at their dealership for a bit too. So ultimately, I ended up getting it for just a few grand more than the 2.0 I was looking at. Looking back now, and after talking with my service rep a few times, it was absolutely the right decision. The 3.0 is literally a different car than the 2.0. Just much, much faster and smoother. I'll have to check, it's fairly new and he's been busy with retirement plans so haven't had a chance to see them all that much. It may be a 2.0, but not sure. It's probably a good thing just because my dad can have a bit of a lead foot

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Feb 23, 2015 -> 11:49 AM) I know a little about it, but I've never seen that feature. Yea I've never heard of that functionality with it.

QUOTE (Jake @ Feb 23, 2015 -> 09:46 AM) I think Illinois isn't 100% sold on Lovett - and rightly so - and that very well could be why he doesn't come. I don't think they are sold on him qualifying, not for basketball reasons.

QUOTE (gatnom @ Feb 23, 2015 -> 09:31 AM) Did DJ Williams kick your dog or something? Lol Yup along with Tate

QUOTE (iamshack @ Feb 23, 2015 -> 10:10 AM) Two Jeeps, wow! I'm going to be getting another SUV in the next 12-18 months most likely. I'll likely ping you about your experience with them then. For now, my daily driver is my wife's '09 Honda Pilot, which is like a tank, but I deal with it. My wife drives the '14 Audi A6 3.0 supercharged, which I must tell you, is a sick, sick car. I create excuses to run errands so I can drive it. My dad got an A6 demo, completely loaded and got it at a great price. That car is straight awesome sauce.

QUOTE (knightni @ Feb 23, 2015 -> 07:04 AM) They're 17-10 right now. Two-and-two is a definite possibiity in the last 4 games. Pretty decent guess, I suppose. Rice out 8 weeks-ish due to a broken wrist, still extremely rusty from that Cosby is off the team after suspension and just a horrific season Nunn took longer to recover from offseason knee injury I would say those have contributed just a tad to that record. -

Well didn't have it on offense, and the defense wasn't good enough. Gotta clean it up and win one on the road now. -
QUOTE (Brian @ Feb 22, 2015 -> 05:17 PM) The top PG from Illinois is going to Villanova but I get what you're saying. Yea I meant "a" top pg from Illinois, fully agreed on Brunson being the best.

QUOTE (Brian @ Feb 22, 2015 -> 02:31 PM) Losing another top state recruit, this time toe St Johns, could send some Illini fans over the ledge. Well not just another top state recruit, but top PG from Illinois. Honestly, the only reason Lovett should want to go to SJU over Illinois is because of academic eligibility, dude would be surrounded by talent and would be given the keys as a sophomore (would just have to share with Tate), that has to be a big selling part to any PG. That said, this staff has missed time after time for a top flight pg, even though the offense should be centered around it. It honestly baffles me that we can't convince a top kid to see the amount of playing time/opportunity that they could have here, it could be the downfall of the current staff if they don't get one in 2016.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Feb 19, 2015 -> 10:51 PM) Nobody has played these? I haven't, but all the big recent games have been huge co-op style. Destiny and Evolve are all about co-op, and while they can be super fun with friends I'm missing the storyline/customization aspects from previous games, it just isn't there in either of them. One of my friends read an article on Evolve where the creators mentioned that they didn't care about the story of how they got there, it was all about the gameplay. I just don't agree with that, one of the best co-op games I ever played was Borderlands 2, and that wasn't just the gameplay aspect but the insane detail in the storyline that had you actually connect with the characters and really want to complete it all because you felt like you wouldn't know the whole story/background otherwise.

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Feb 22, 2015 -> 01:13 PM) He has tremendous size, speed and athleticism for his spot. Those guys usually turn out fine with a little coaching even if they never learn to put the ball in the basket. That's the thing, he isn't a poor shooter, he actually has a really nice shot/offensive skills. He just needs to use them and learn to be aggressive. Hopefully he gets there, worst case is he's somewhat like Joe Bertrand.
-
DJ has always been underwhelming at Simeon, he also has played out of position there quite a bit. He'll be a solid contributor with potential for more, and I'm just fine with that. He's got a ton of skill, hopefully he learns to be more aggressive so that he uses it and can reach that potential.
