QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Feb 4, 2015 -> 10:20 AM) Not a fan, but he did just get us to a bowl and signed a top 6 BIG class. Gotta give him some credit for that. Now if he goes 6-6 again, he'll be on the hotseat once more.

Illinois with a big day, got a 4 star RB and the DL that we really needed. Should end up 5th or 6th in the BIG, which is huge for us.

QUOTE (SnB @ Feb 2, 2015 -> 04:31 PM) As a beer drinker, I didn't like it. As a business person, I get what they were doing and thought they did a good job. It isn't going to convince any beer snobs to give Budweiser another try, but it will make their customers feel better about not being part of the "new beer culture". How was that a good business decision? They're buying micro breweries left and right. Those who were going to buy Bud before are still going to buy it, but that commercial most likely didn't win new customers, in fact, from the reactions I've seen it's just made them look worse.

NCAA basketball 2014-15 thread

Illinois now at 5-5 in conference play, would really help if we can win at MSU on Saturday. If we win out at home (UM, MSU, NW, NU) and sneak a road win (MSU, Wisky, Iowa, PU) then we should be dancing, I think 5-3 is doable especially if Rice comes back strong and Hill/Nunn keep being aggressive. -
QUOTE (Tex @ Feb 2, 2015 -> 07:44 PM) My stepson and daughter in law have just bought their second investment home. They live very frugally and are able to save about 25% of their income each month. They now has two families buying him a house every month. His goal is six before he turns forty. When he retired he will own all those homes. Sounds impossible and it is, unless you start off that way. They drive nice cars, not super expensive and drive them until there is just no life left in them. I don't think that math is right. Two families are buying him a house every month? And he'll have 6 by age 40? What, is he 39?

QUOTE (iamshack @ Feb 1, 2015 -> 10:20 PM) I liked the BMW commercial with Bryant Gumbel and Katie Couric. Really? I thought it was awful, but then again I just hate that car.

Perry was good, but what were those outfits? Way to hide her boobs for 90% of the time. Liam Neeson won the commercials.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jan 30, 2015 -> 09:47 AM) He was eligible at Oregon but didnt make it because of their sanctions at the time, I am guessing the year at Huntington made him eligible for OSU If he actually enrolls and plays at OSU I'll eat a piece of paper.

GoT new trailer leaked, man it's going heavy into book 5 and I love it.

Jaquan Lyle apparently committed to OSU, do any schools learn that this guy just wont make it in?

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 23, 2015 -> 04:35 PM) You can get to the first train stop in IN in 45 minutes. Driving it is about 25 minutes on a good traffic day. I live an hour drive out, or an hour and a half on the train. A lot of people at my office (Lake Forest) live in Wisconsin, kind of the same deal as NWI.

QUOTE (Knuckles @ Jan 27, 2015 -> 09:48 AM) If we could only access it via tapatalk! I'm probably in a deep minority here, but another site that I sometimes go to has tapatalk and I couldn't stand it on my phone.

And he stays at Mizzou. Fail. -
Vodka martinis? For shame... Martinis should only be made with gin

Sounds like Illinois is hiring Mizzou's DL coach, really good hire for Beckman if true. -

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jan 24, 2015 -> 02:56 PM) Illini collapsing in the second half. Who saw that one coming? We just got worn down. Though walker and Hollins going off on us is no surprise, Hollins always kills us. -
So hand breaded pork tenderloin sandwich or personal pan pizza for lunch?
-
LDF that reminds me of when I lived in Ann Arbor, home of Dominos' HQ and neighbor to Little Caesars's HQ in Detroit. Talk about crap pizza in that town, there was one place with the owner from Chicago that made a decent but not great deep dish, the rest of the places were chains. Though I will say, Little Caesars > Dominos (with the new recipes) >>> other chains >> Papa Johns.

If you could acquire one last player to complete the offseason...

QUOTE (Dunt @ Jan 22, 2015 -> 11:05 AM) I really think Shields to the Sox is something that could happen by the end of the weekend. The buzz at Soxfest will already be palpable, imagine announcing the signing of Shields. I'd be stoked for this year, but man anything over 3 years will be a major regret. -

That was one of the better 2nd halves under Groce, it was really encouraging to see. Also, Leron is going to be a beast, kid is just starting to figure it out and he'll be a rebounding machine which Illinois hasn't had in quite a while. -
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jan 20, 2015 -> 05:29 PM) In Chicago? Takeda, Abbot, Abbvie, Astellas? QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Jan 21, 2015 -> 01:36 PM) No to all of the above. Baxter? That's the last big one that I know of. And man Astellas wasn't like that at all when I was there, of course I was in their IT department and that's always barren...

2014-2015 NFL Football thread

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jan 21, 2015 -> 01:16 PM) They were checked at halftime by the league and determined to be underinflated. Why the hell would they continue to use those balls? That would just be ludicrous and make me question the point of checking the PSI levels. If they were allowed to keep using them by the refs then it's pretty clear the NFL just doesn't care, or didn't before it became a headline. -
QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Jan 20, 2015 -> 10:35 AM) Well crap, here goes my life in March/April: Borderlands 2/Pre-Sequel bundle coming to next gen. LOVED Borderlands 2 and almost kept my PS3 just to play the Pre-Sequel. Yea I'll probably be getting it as well then, Borderlands 2 is a top 5 game for me personally.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jan 19, 2015 -> 04:46 PM) Ahh, depends what you like. They are all fairly similar. Caesars and the SuperBook are really large. If you are in to being able to bet as many different possible things as you can, those are good venues. If you like more of a hip scene, I like the Hard Rock, or the Palms. The new SLS is actually where I bet at and watch games at, since it's conveniently located for me and I have an online account with William Hill. SLS also has a pretty sweet strip-side outdoor bar, which not many people get to since it is on the north end of the Strip. A place some of the locals go to, which has some pretty good deals and some really nice waitresses is the M, at the 32 degrees sports bar, but that's a good 20 minutes off the Strip. I took some of my friends there for a Sunday during the NFL season, and they loved it. The good thing is you'll be here for the NCAA tournament, which is a really fun time. You'll be good no matter where you go. Tell me where you guys stay though and I can probably help you out with some other stuff too. We went last year during the same time, freakin loved it so were trying to do it annually now. We'll be at the MGM Sig this time, got a really good deal via AirBnb (we stayed at the Elara last year but the cost went up a lot for their suites which was too bad since we loved it there). We'll probably go back to Caesars for the proximity and it was a decent place to bet, but I'm sure we'll be out more for the games this year (Elara had these 8ft projection tvs in the living room that made watching games amazing if we werent already out). But we'll have to check out Hard Rock, we didn't really go there last time so sounds like it'd be a good one. Let me know if you have any other recommendations, really appreciate it!
