QUOTE (Brian @ Dec 17, 2014 -> 01:09 PM) 29 vs Simeon this week is pretty good. Illinois fans should want him. Sounds like off court garbage is in the past. With Tate not really developing then yes I want someone with a pulse who can play point. That said, I'd rather get a stud PF/C in 2015 (Bragg) than a PG since we will still have Abrams at PG next year. He is far from ideal, but I feel much less comfortable with our current frontcourt players. -
QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Dec 17, 2014 -> 12:34 PM) It's kind of crazy how many of us came to the site at almost the exact same time and all around the same age. Yea I was 16 when I joined, I've spent a 1/3 of my life on this site

QUOTE (iamshack @ Dec 16, 2014 -> 08:08 PM) I married a woman that works at my company. It is a large company. We don't really interact with another. I think this is ok, if you're at a larger company and your work doesn't cross much if at all. Of course, it could always get awkward no matter what, I knew someone at my company who's husband had been let go by the company. Kinda awkward.

QUOTE (farmteam @ Dec 16, 2014 -> 10:47 AM) Congrats! I don't know how you've managed a 2+ hour commute. Seriously, a 75-90 min commute is already killing me slowly.

QUOTE (Iwritecode @ Dec 15, 2014 -> 10:38 AM) So after the long wait I finally got a firm offer and was able to accept it. I just officially put in my 2-week notice at my current job. Starting on January 5th my commute will drop from 2+ hours to about 10 minutes. I’ll be dropping a little in salary but the massive savings in gas, tolls and free time at home definitely makes up for it. Awesome news, congrats!

My manager and I talked about this last week, we are holding ourselves to going to at least 5 games this year. The team should perform well and they deserve our support with these types of moves.

Anybody else having trouble supporting this team?
bigruss replied to ron883's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Lol nope, this team will be so much easier/better to watch. If you don't like guys who have used PEDs I would recommend not watching any professional sports again. -

I'm depressed, this was supposed to be the year that pushes the program forward and we're falling flat. Groce needs to get this team in order, it's on him at this point, you've brought these guys in you need to get them to play better now. Not saying he's on the hot seat, but man I have been sorely disappointed this year. We have to win the games we werent supposed to in the Big Ten now, and that's always tough. -
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 11, 2014 -> 03:44 PM) What is PST? Profit Sharing Trust. Right now if we "meet" our PST goals then the company puts in a full 18%, which means about 22% of salary for those fully vested. Their plan is to reduce that 18% to 10-15% and add in new compensation models to reward top performers. All on board for that, except next year they are reducing without adding anything new, not cool with that. That 22% is in lieu of the standard 3% 401k contribution match, instead the company just puts that amount into a retirement fund for you. This may seem nuts, and in a way it is hence the change, but we don't get paid as much as other companies because of this. This is the summary I came up with for myself: 2014 (paying out in 2015): Not affected, my payout will be around 12% is my guess. 2015: reduced to 10-15%, my payout would range between that same % compared to about 18% in recent years. I could actually end up with a lower % in 2015 then 2014 (I’m not full vested until 2016, so my increase may be less then the difference in the reduction they are planning). 2016: same as 2015, but introduction of new compensation packages to reward top performers.

Man I used to love Diplomacy, but it's so hard to get a group of friends together who can spend a day+ playing it.
-
I don't have the figures yet, but my company is lowering our PST contributions and it's looking like they will kill it off in favor of a 401k in the somewhat near future. Hopefully they come out with some sort of compensation package for top performers, because otherwise this is will be a deal breaker for a lot of people (no bonuses are given to regular employees and most annual raises have been about 2-3% in recent years, PST is really the "bonus" most of us get).

QUOTE (smalls2598 @ Dec 11, 2014 -> 02:03 PM) Last month when I gave my 2 week notice, my manager had asked me to submit a letter of resignation. I wasn't planning on doing one until he asked for it, but then again, I never had to submit one before. I would have one prepared, it shouldn't take long anyways. It could just be required by HR.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 11, 2014 -> 01:42 PM) Putnam was having shoulder issues last year, and didn't pitch for the last couple weeks with no explanation. Considering he came out of nowhere, I really wouldn't count on him in 2015. FYI he's always had an arm that didn't warm up well, back in HS he would struggled to be ready every 4-5 days, he was more of a once a week guy. Honestly I'm surprised he's been able to convert to reliever this well thus far.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 10, 2014 -> 04:59 PM) Or something about Wisconsin makes it a place that coaches don't want to stay at after they get there. Some ESPN reporter citing issues with getting recruits eligible for admission into Wisconsin. Who would've thought that Wisconsin and Nebraska changed HCs but Illinois isn't. -

QUOTE (Brian @ Dec 4, 2014 -> 05:36 AM) Marcus Lovett debuted last night. 10 assists, 0 points, 0-7 from the field. Guess the comparissons to DRose and other Chicago guards was premature. His teammate, Charlie Moore, dropped 49 and 10 assists. They won by 80. Seriously. Bigger challenge Sat when they play Larkin. Larkin has one of the best sophomores in the state in Christan Negran. He was throwing down alley oops as a frosh last year. Have you seen Moore play in person? His name has been popping up a lot lately, small kid but he's racking up the stats and I have little to no info on him. -

QUOTE (illinilaw08 @ Dec 10, 2014 -> 09:29 AM) Cosby needs something to get himself going. When he hit the 3 to tie the game at 50, I thought maybe he was going to get hot in the second half. Nunn has been efficient scoring, but he's had his bad moments as well. He's still way, way too left hand dominant. My one critique of Groce in both the Miami and Nova games is with the Morgan/Colbert rotation. With as much running around as Egwu does on both ends of the floor, he can't play 34-35 minutes a night. Groce needs to be able to trust Colbert/Morgan to give him 5 minutes a half. Otherwise, I agree - not that worried about the Illini. They are a fringe top-25 team now and, if Cosby gets going, the ceiling goes up some. Well Morgbert hasn't really shown much yet, they get manhandled against good PF/Cs. Groce REALLY needs to find a dominate PF/C, he's yet to get one onto campus (I don't think Paul will be that guy, he'll be serviceable). It's my one real concern going forward, as it's so transparent when we go against a top PF/C that we are completely outmatched down low. -

QUOTE (Boogua @ Dec 9, 2014 -> 09:31 PM) It really doesn't make sense considering he has produced against teams like Nova in the past. My only guess is that he's still getting used to playing primarily off the ball and running around screens whereas he was the main ball handler at Seton Hall. Illinois has two losses thus far. One to a ranked team in a true road game and the other at a neutral site against a top 10 team loaded with experience. The Illini were close at points midway through the second half in both. It's not the end of the world. It's not like they lost to NJIT. It's just not clicking for him, my one big worry is that his shot is that awful flat type, did he just get lucky for a year at Seton Hall or was that true talent to score? I'm not that worried about the Illini, I figured we'd lose both of these games, it's just disappointing that we aren't shooting as well as we should be and that's really holding us back. But Hill and Rice are going to keep us in a lot of games, hopefully Nunn plays more and gets into a good groove as well. -

Illinois ties it then swiftly falls apart, just a terrible set of plays to give back the momentum. -
I've been sick over the past week or so and I binge watched a lot of shows: -The 100 - besides the bad acting it's a fun premise. -SHIELD - better than I thought, sooo many similarities to Firefly which I like. -Peaky Blinders - Finally got to watch the 2nd season, this is a REALLY good show, people need to check it out.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Dec 6, 2014 -> 01:41 PM) So being the n00b I am, I started the Vault of Glass strike and figured it would go through the typical strike protocol where it finds guardians and yada yada and it did not. So, anyone interested in organizing a Soxtalk Vault of Glass strike? I'd be in. Psn: rowdyruss22
