    Prom Stories

Didn't have any huge group plans, most of my good friends weren't going since they had sport conflicts, so I took my then girlfriend to my family's cottage the day after. It rained all day so we were forced to stay inside
  2. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ May 4, 2015 -> 11:59 AM) So should the TV stuff go in the TV thread and this be more of a books thread? Yea Jason I created this thread to discuss spoilers about the books and tv thread, any non spoiler talk was supposed to be in the TV thread. It was a try to get those who wanted to talk about both to not ruin it for those who just watched the show.
  3. Yea that sucked, if Selmy is actually dead I'll be really disappointed/shocked. It also probably means they are cutting out a lot of the post-Dany Mereen lines which isn't terrible.
  4. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Apr 30, 2015 -> 02:40 PM) Shayne L. Marsaw @wasram · 50m 50 minutes ago According to @RapSheet the @ChicagoBears are in contact with Titans to move up to 2nd overall to draft Mariota. #Bears #2015NFLDraft I really hope this isn't true. Unless the swap includes Cutler I just don't see it making sense from a Bears standpoint, we can't afford to give up depth picks.
  5. QUOTE (farmteam @ Apr 30, 2015 -> 08:07 AM) Yep. Once Bryant signed we're over-signed by one scholarship for next year. If they found way to have Priller become a walk-on but magically get a bunch of "academic" scholarships I'd be ok with that. Once you have been given an athletic scholarship you cannot be given any academic scholarships. More likely it would be some booster "covering" costs somehow or the family has the means and willingness to cover tuition.
  6. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Apr 29, 2015 -> 10:23 AM) I liked them both because I feel like he was setting up the ultimate ending two books from then. The earlier "major" characters were setting things into motion while the latter were bringing it to conclusion. I've reread book 4 (well pretty much all of them) and really liked it the 2nd time, just tons of information there that kinda goes unnoticed because everyone is typically in shock/awe of book 3 still when they are reading it.
  7. QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Apr 29, 2015 -> 10:11 AM) I enjoyed Jon Show, Arya and Selmy's chapters in ADWD, about half the book. Well I really enjoyed the Greyjoy and Martell storylines, I know you've mentioned you didn't like Quentyn but I thought it was great. And the Griff/young Griff/Tyrion parts had a ton in them.
  8. I still can't believe this streak Illinois is on, just amazing.
  9. I kind of get that with book 4, but disagree about book 5. I think he realized that introducing major characters that far into the series required more writing/background on them. Personally, book 5 had some of the more interesting storylines.

    Job Hunt Thread

Lots of factors in play there, where are you vs a market comp? Do you have another offer on the table that is setting a bar? What % raises have you gotten recently? Have any coworkers gone through a similar situation that would be willing to share information?
  11. I also assumed Victarion and the horn would have been introduced this season, with possibly the Martells as well. All 3 of the storylines meet at Dany and I thought they would've kept them in that same timeline.
  12. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Apr 28, 2015 -> 01:32 PM) There are two male actors who have been cast with no information as regards to what they are playing yet. Not likely, but you never know. http://winteriscoming.net/2015/03/30/game-...r-not-to-griff/ Interesting, so if Nikolai's duck spoiler is true then that would indicate Ser Rolly Duckfield being one of them, so would that mean Connington isn't in the show? Doesn't make much sense to have Connington and Duckfield but not Aegon.

    2015 TV Thread

InBetweeners is great, but gets so ridiculous that I have to pause some episodes and start them again later. The IT Crowd is my favorite British comedy.
  14. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Apr 27, 2015 -> 10:14 PM) Still too early to say he's out IMO. Doesn't Varys lie to Tyrion about his plans in the book as well? They could just be saving Aegon for a big episode 10 reveal with his invasion of Westeros starting off season six. I think some of the major characters from Feast & Dance that have been omitted from th show, like Euron for instance, will show up in some capacity next season. Yea I don't think Aegon not being in the show yet really tells us anything about him, that storyline is HUGE. I imagine they have a big storyline coming up on it, may not be until next season. They do have a ton to cover and it's clear they aren't afraid to cut stuff out, just hoping they don't water down the story too much (would love more Martell and Greyjoy, and of course the Aegon/Golden Company storylines to pick up).
  15. Hmm I didn't remember the Tywin suspecting something happened piece, I'll have to reread a bit on that, good stuff. Stannis just never made sense to me to be Azor Ahai, I really think Melissandre read the fires wrong and she's starting to realize that.

    2015 TV Thread

GOT discussion with spoilers go here: http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?sh...p;#entry3148274
  17. Ok so starting the non-spoiler tagged discussion: I don't think Tyrion is going to kill Danaerys nor do I think he is Targaryean. First off, I don't see a connection to being a queenslayer other than Jaime being the Kingslayer, there's nothing to indicate anything other than that. Secondly, someone would have had to deceive Tywin about Tyrion's true father, good luck with that, don't think that's plausible at all. A couple theories of mine (and feel free to pick these apart): A common one: John is the offspring of Rhaegar and Lyanna. He's the third heard in the Targaryean dragon (Aegon and Dany are the others). John dies at the end of book 5, but is brought back to life by Melisandre, releasing him from his Night's Watch vows and he does badass things up there. Also, he's Azor Ahai, Melisandre read the fires wrong. My biggest reach one: Victarion comes in to Slaver's Bay with the horn that can control dragons, and with that power combined with a personality similar to Drogo's I think Dany catches onto him and they get married or team up or something.
  18. Starting a new thread that includes SPOILERS, so read with caution. Discuss differences in the show between the book, what you think will happen, or just general questions about characters/plotlines all here.

    2015 TV Thread

Changes I like thus far: -Jaime/Bronn going to Dorne, that cuts out some stuff but actually is a better storyline IMO Changes I don't like: -Sansa marrying Ramsay. WTF, why would she go for that? WTF was Baelish saying? Revenge her family by marrying into the Boltons? That does way more good for the Boltons then open any opportunity to Sansa for revenge. This is all about Littlefinger getting his way. -Tyrion already getting snatched by Mormont. Goddamn this one hurt the most, for those who read the books Tyrion has a fantastic storyline that introduces a bunch of new key players, and while that could still happen I don't like how they much pretty decided to strip that all away. So many good characters are being left out right now, I understand that there are already a ton in the show but so many have been killed off it'd be great to get some of them into the show. Also, get rid of the dumb "previously on" recaps. All of that said, this last episode had a ton of great moments. The Margaery/Cersei scene was sooo fantasticly done.
  20. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Apr 26, 2015 -> 04:29 PM) What's his story? He's a 5th year transfer, didn't do a whole lot this past year even though Michigan really needed FC players. He's a good teammate and backup but nothing more. Also, hope NN works out for you guys, talk about a story.
  21. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Apr 22, 2015 -> 10:44 AM) People that box score scout think Hackenburg is bad. He was excellent 2 years ago under O'Brien. Wasn't really coached by James Franklin. This is an excellent piece about Hackenburg that sums up my thoughts on him very well: http://www.footballsavages.com/christian-h...ithout-context/ He's intriguing, but tanking for him seems like a bad bad idea. He needs to show some major improvement this year for that.
  22. I finally have an accepted offer on the place near Irving Park and Kimball, pretty happy with the price and really happy to be moving on with a place that I really like and is completely within my budget.
  23. Just craziness going on over there, looks like a large (but not necessarily good) class coming in so they will at least have bodies. But man, possible winless season coming up in the Big 12 for them.
  24. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Apr 15, 2015 -> 12:21 PM) Does the pressing harder actually make a difference? Physically no, mentally yes.
  25. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Apr 13, 2015 -> 01:29 PM) Yea, it was weird. They had a 10 inch hold cutout display and if you could fit it in the hole you could fill it up. But then people were filling things like kids swimming pools and gross things like toilets and bongs. They must have just said "here is 20 bucks let me fill this for a picture" Man people ruin everything.
