Upon seeing the trailer at apple.com/trailers over the weekend it reminds me of 1984 & F 451, & Equilibrium. Portman certainly looks like a good cast. But they need to cut a more action-packed trailer I think.

Ever since the rumors started before the all-star break the bullpen seems to be falling apart. Is that coincidence or jitters? How many people would want to be traded off the team with the best record? I can't think of one person on this team who would want that right now. So I think it's more jitters than anything else & one the 31st passes the bullpen will become a strength again. I still like Hermanson, Marte, Politte, Cotts, Jenks. I'd rather swap Vizc with Villone.

The team just won a WS & Manny was a HUGE part of that. Damon was quoted as saying Boston is an 85 win team at best w/out Manny. Yet here's a reporter taking a pot shot at him for having to relieve himself. Would the umpires have suspended the game to wait for Manny to get back from the clubhouse? No. Boston would have had to substitute for him. So here's Manny risking embarrassment for the sake of his team & this arsehole is taking pot shots at him for it. Classless. Then they wonder why Manny want's out of Boston.

Let me be the first to say that the A's are going to win the ALW. A 36-11 record since June 1st is damn near unbeatable in the game of baseball. So that means LAA, NYY, BOS, MIN, CLE, BAL are the likely WC's. Who here really believes the resurgent Yankees behind Johnson won't either win the ALE or the ALWC? I sure don't. With respect to BOS Schilling should figure it out in Aug to dominate Sep. Schilling + Clement is enough to drive them to the post season as well. LAA, BAL, CLE, & MIN will be sitting home.

I just read the Reds are asking for a 3 player pkg with no less than a #3 starter for Dunn. Sheesh! What are they smoking in Cincy? Likewise Wagner is saying all the right things to get an extension in Philly so he looks to be off the market as well. Nobody seems interested in Eddie G so there must be a reason. These look to be the two guys most certain to be traded now: LHRP Scott Eyre, 2-1 with a 2.53 ERA with the Giants LHRP Ron Villone, 2-3 with a 2.33 ERA for the Mariners The problem for Kenny is that every contender is a buyer for these guys.

Who is going to win the ALW? The A's. They are going to win it because few people are capable of beating them right now. They are playing like we were in the first half. They have better pitching than LAA & the hitting has really come around. We won't face the A's unless they get to the ALCS. The team most likely to win the ALWC is the NYY$. You can expect Johnson to pitch games 1 & 5 if it goes the distance.

The problem with the 15" & the shrinking dish in general is that it can't get the pick up the signal from all satellites. So you literally have to manage the orientation of several if you want to get them all. That's why until there is a radical change in that technology the big dishes are here to stay as far as the providers go. The home's a different story. I imagine 8" dishes on a rotating antenna base some day. Instead of having 3 15" ones to get all the channels you'll have 5 8" ones. When you click a channel on the receiver it will just re-orient the antenna position. The antenna itself will be dedicated to receiving HDTV broadcasts. VHF will be sold off eventually, but I think UHF will stick around. It doesn't have as much commercial application for wireless.

The antennaes are all about CDMA & CDPD (digital cellular networks). National broadcast networks will be moving off VHF in years to come so that the government can auction that spectrum for even greater wireless services. The fully envision the ability to watch movies remotely anywhere in the world via wireless digital networks. What you are likely to see on all tall bldg's from here on out is a wide array of dishes & giant cell towers.

If he does that he's just hurting himself. By reporting to Charlotte he's got another month to prove himself. If he puts up solid numbers in Aug down there he's sure to get called up when the rosters expand. That will give him a chance to compete for a playoff spot on the roster. All of which will greatly enhance his FA value over what he can get now. If he does elect to become a FA (refusing assignment) he forfeits the $.

I like it. But we'll only hold the record short-term if it's built. They are building a monster of a skyscraper in Japan that will demolish all existing records. This spire type design might give the Japanese new ideas though. It seems well thought out with respect to wind sheer.
