    Ancient Rome..

You never can tell around here. :rolly
  2. It's interesting to say the least. 1) She abandons the boy on I-95. 2) She's involved in a car crash 90 miles away. Did 1) result in the boy's life being spared? God sure does work in mysterious ways PS: we need a halo icon
  3. So what do you all think of Berghoff's home brew?
  4. If you knew me in real life you would know it's intentional. I drip with sarcastic humor. Put it another way, if you were all card carrying members of the Southern Baptists I would still be dripping with sarcasm. The fact that you are not just makes it easier
  5. Gload 04 1.000F% 9.56RF .815ZR. Gload Car .997F% 9.31RF .821ZR Kong 05 .997F% 9.88RF .859ZR. Kong Car .995F% 9.44RF .827ZR. I give the nod to Kong career wise & a big nod to Kong in 2005. Koney is #3 in AL in F%, #5 in RF, #7 in ZR, #1 in DP (88). The only weakness Koney has shown this year is hitting LHers but he's hitting MUCH better overall in Jul .318/.799. He is sure to get a $50M/4 yr deal for 2006. Gload should only play when the pitching matchup goes against Konerko. There wasn't much to go on for yesterday but Koney was .133/.310OPS vs KC's SP. If I were the manager I would have gone with his hot streak in Jul over the numbers to try & win the series.
  6. Well if you look at the numbers despite Thomas going down we are starting to swing the bats MUCH better. Compare to CWS: CWS Jul 05 .270/.758 vs Opponents .276/.782 CWS Jul 04 .226/.669 vs Opponents .264/.764 but nothing like 2000: CWS Jul 00 .308/.871 vs Opponents .287/.827 We better get the pitching under control or we'll likely suffer the same fate.
  7. If you look at past quotes from Gload dating back to 2004 he clearly was NOT complaining about playing time. How I interpret his quote: What are the odds of a seldom used player like me costing a team the game? I blew it big time.
  8. This is not last year's Twins team. Twins Jul 05 .258/.719 vs Opponents .279/.748 Twins Jul 04 .271/.770 vs Opponents .234/.650 Compare to CWS: CWS Jul 05 .270/.758 vs Opponents .276/.782 CWS Jul 04 .226/.669 vs Opponents .264/.764 They are pitching no better than us right now but we are starting to come around hitting wise where they have slumped. Now let's look at the hotest team in MLB: OAK Jul 05 .282/.799 vs Opponents .244/.693 OAK Jul 04 .281/.827 vs Opponents .255/.763 Never doubt Beane magic
  9. I never understood why the world turns a deaf ear to their plight. The PLO has destroyed more lifes than the IRA & yet the world respects their cause. Is that a Muslim vs Catholic thing?
  10. I forgot Christian bands Heavy Metal: Payable on Death (P.O.D) Hard Rock: Stryper Classic Rock: Rezz Band Grunge Rock: Evanescence Cult Rock: Creed Rock: Jars of Clay Country: Gary Chapman
  11. http://www.falstaffbrewing.com/ The name for some reason brings God to mind. The Fall (stations of the cross) & the Staff (Moses). The beer itself is damn good!
  12. .. and mods who don't like Poll ONLY threads :rolly
  13. Wouldn't the biggest American superbands reflect citizenship rather than place of birth? Anyways I would say a survey of this nature throws out the money. It's more of a what's the 1st band that comes to mind question. A measure of stature & fame. Heavy-Metal: Metallica. Hard Rock: Aerosmith Classic Rock: Doors Grunge Rock: Nirvana Cult Rock: Grateful Dead. BOC gets honorale mention. Rock: Eagles, Journey, REO Country: Charlie Daniels Band
  14. I saw that as well as the glitzy ad against the Gov. Apparently the GOP think both of these guys are very vulnerable. Isn't it a little early to be spending campaign $'s like this?
  15. Keith as a charm that Miller never had. Keith has never come across as either abrasive or irrelevant as Miller as. I don't think the networks fear Keith as much as they fear losing Madden. They are always looking for the next Madden. Madden's good but not so good as to seek clones of him.

    Ancient Rome..

Sad. Very sad. The intelligence of people around here .. makes you wonder. The phrase "Rome wasn't built in a day" is a testament to the glory, artistry & magnificence of Rome. All of which was built over centuries. In my opinion it's outdated. The greatest empire the world has ever seen is Britain. Their mark of imperialism on the world is still evident today. Second to Britain would be us.
  17. Her shoulders are bigger than his! Scary stuff. Imagine someone dl'g a virus in her to give her an "attitude". She would beat the crap out of him. Ethically speaking the slippery slope lies before the world in Japan's fascination with loli-con. Will the court extend it's decision upholding that such artistic imagineering is acceptable to loli-con robots? If so what reprecusions will this have on society as a whole?
  18. That's all speculation. The man has a distinguished record of decisions & his rated as one of the best by the ABA. What he or his wife choose to spend their money on should have no bearing on whether he is fit to serve on the bench. As for the abortion issue itself the travesty is not RvW but rather DvB. In DvB the court introduced "mental health" as a legitimate reason for a woman to seek an abortion regardless of where she was in her pregnancy. The term "health" was defined in such broad terms that realistically it was impossible for any state to pass a law to protect the life of the unborn child under any circumstance. Doe vs. Bolton, 410 U.S. 179: the medical judgment may be exercised in the light of all factors physical, emotional, psychological, familial, and the woman's age relevant to the well-being of the patient. All these factors may relate to health. That decision gave rise to abortion on demand & opened the door to partial birth abortions. The courts have essentially defined that personhood begins when a mother desires for the child to live. The viability of the child outside of the mother is of no consequence. Not all legal scholars support that opinion. Many believe that modern medical science must weigh in on what constitutes personhood & therefore Congress has a right to pass a law restricting abortion based on that assessment.
  19. All of that is factored in to the 4 yr avg's. All things considered the only way we can lose the division is if Minny at least splits with Oak & Bos, dominates us, & wins every series they play.
  20. Philly has made that clear for weeks. There's no way FLM won't know. Which is why I think any deal for Burnett is contingent upon the team trading for him being able to sign him for at least next year. Not just for the team's sake but the Marlin's as well.
  21. Let's say we do follow the team's 4 yr avg & win 32 of our last 62 for a total of 97 wins. Let's likewise say we follow the team's 4 yr avg vs MIN & win 4 out of our last 13 vs Minny. Did I mention the Twins have 10 games with Oak & 6 games with Bos left? Adding it all up our 32W drop the MN to 22. Our 4 wins against MN drops it to 18. Assuming they split with the contenders it drops to 10. That means they have to go 22-10 (.6875) in their remaining 32 games just to tie us.
  22. They have 10 H2H games left. That will decide it. I think the A's will do it. They are 8-2 in their last 10. That means they are avoiding losing streaks. This team has a history of hitting a zone & riding the season out.
  23. It's in the bag. Just look at the collapse years. 2004: Aug 12W, Sep 17W : 29 2003: Aug 16W, Sep 13W : 29 2002: Aug 14W, Sep 16W : 30 2001: Aug 17W, Sep 14W : 31 As you can see the avg is 30W. We still have 3 left in Jul & 2 in Oct. It's highly unlikely we'll finish with less than 32W in these final games. That would give us 97W. The Twins would need to finish 44-18 to overtake us. Highly unlikely for a team that is 4-6 in it's last 10.
  24. All of the books on that page are good for reading to children at night. But don't do it word for word. You need to skim the details. You can add them as they grow older. http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detai...120138?v=glance Alice in Quantumland : An Allegory of Quantum Physics (Hardcover) The Wizard of Quarks by Robert Gilmore today!
