  1. That name sounds familiar? Oh that's right. He went to Notre Dame.
  2. 6 outs left, under 90 pitches. He's still got the CG WIN left Big play!
  3. Bummer. Just the CG, SHO are left. We need a DP here.
  4. There goes the PERFECT GAME, but with Garland being under the 80 pitch mark, he's still got a shot at a CG, SHO, & NO-HITTER.
  5. I loathe the Twinkees. Ever since they've risen to the top I've been on a Twinkee strike. I've not eaten one in over 4 yrs. Would the SOX be winning a game at the Jake 3-2 on 3H? CLE's out hit them & yet because of Romero, Rincon, & Nathan Santana only has to pitch 6 in. I don't think they are that much more talented than us so I look to them as being blessed with baseball luck. Everything we do seems overshadowed by their good fortune. I hate them.
  6. With all the good LH bats CLE has this is a good test for him. Especially since their on a high after last night's win over the Sox. Thank you Mr Cotts & the great & powerful Oz.
  7. Why do you have a problem with Timo? Iguchi's at 2B, Timo's a better OF, & Uribe is still in a slump. You want Iguchi to lead off?
  8. At least CLE is giving MIN a game 3-2 MIN. They scored 2R off Santana in the 2nd. For all our offensive woes Ozzie still lost 2 out of 3 gms for our Sox by mismanaging the pen. Cotts has no business relieving a starter. Ever. He should be relegated to mop-ups & blow-outs or matchups until he proves he can handle more.
  9. The sooner we move away from annual taxes & licenses to sales driven taxes & licenses the better. We can't compete with the rest of the world if we keep growing our antiquated tax system. That goes for both the Fed & local governments. Face it. Were doomed. The Chinese will own us soon enough. They don't have a deficit & they don't have a floating currency rate & they make nearly everything we own.
  10. This is where the global economy (culture) comes into play. Several nations have 12 as the age of consent laws. Others have 13, 14, 15, 16, & of course we have 18. The more our nation opens our arms to the world the more we will accept their way of thinking. Our own USSC justice Ginsberg wrote a paper supporting 12 as the age of consent. I think that's ridiculous because of present day sociology but others will argue that suppresses humanity's natural will. It's really tough worshiping both science & religion. A blue sky becomes very grey.
  11. Sinnet was quoted that there now is no doubt that homosexuallty is a natural variation of human behavior. Whether you believe that or not is open for debate. We still do not have a degree of certainty on the cause of that variation or the factors that help nuture it. All we do know is that it is an apparent behavior that occurs on a statistical level large enough & in diverse population groups to where it appears that physiology plays a greater role than sociology. Beyond that we know very little. The latest research on the physiology side seems to suggest it's more driven by chemistry than genetics. It may very well be abnormalities that occur during pregnancy turn out to be the greatest factor. Many universities world wide are involved in research programs on the subject so we can be assured of learning more in the decade to come. But really none of that has any thing to do with the Catholic religion & for Sinnet to make the statement is irresponsible. I agree the Church rhetoric on homosexuality is wrong. I understand the late Pope's intentions for making the statements he did but I also feel that by vilifying homosexuality it was as if the Church was supporting pleasurable heterosexual behavior. It would have been far better for the Pope to vilify pleasureable sex (sex outside of procreation) in general & then include homosexuality as a subset of that. The Church is very clear in it's stance on pleasurable sex & the use of contraception during sex. That takes greater precedence over anything else. Homosexual behavior is confined to pleasurable sex. I can't think of any religious or non-religious person (outside of a clerical person) that abstains from pleasurable sex. We all do it. Most of us use some method to avoid pregnancy during sex. But that fact doesn't excuse it from being a sin that requires forgiveness from the almighty. That's the message the Church needs to put forth indifferent to gender preference. As one who worships science over religion (I admit it) I can say personally I am becoming more open-minded as I develop greater relationships with asian people in the far east & japan. It's as if I am learning more about human physiology & sociology than I ever imagined. It's a different world & it makes you wonder why we are designed the way we are. This knowledge repeatedly challenges my faith. It's created a dilemma for me. We are intricately designed for both pleasure & pain. Why would a creator design us that way if such things as related to sex were forbidden? Is it a cruel joke? Likewise for atheists how do you reconcile the fact that this aspect of our design has nothing to do with natural selection or survival? This aspect of our design (which is not shared by any other life on this planet) can only be the result of intelligent design. The best I can come up with is that it's not part of our original design but rather a form of genetic inheritance as experiences our past down from generation to generation. Again I'm back to accepting the belief that memories are passed through our genes. Something that remains only a theory to day but is picking up steam in studies in asia. It's another question we should have more answers for in the next decade. It might help explain the whole past life phenomenon. Perhaps the original sin we inherited from Adam & Eve is inherited in our design as well.
  12. It's happening all over. IL has one of the highest rates of missing children & persons in the nation. You can only imagine what's happening to them. As much as this sickens me the story out of IL is much worse. Where several boys gang raped a girl, video-taped it, & took pictures. Because she was drugged a jury could not ascertain whether it was non-consentual. Several of the boys fled the country but the one that remained was acquitted. The girl was left in tears when the verdict was rendered. The state of IL is in a sorry state of moral depravity when it considers gang bangs & exhibitionism normal to the degree they don't constitute probable cause for rape.
  13. I'm out. Ozzie blows another one. Letting Cotts inherit a runner in a tie game. Foolish. One of these days he'll figure it out. Use Hermanson when you need a guy to pitch 2 innings. That still leaves you Politte, Marte, Viz, & Cotts, Shingo for the 8th & 9th.
  14. Get him out! He's got nothing! His strikes are right down the middle of the plate!
  15. Cotts walks Crisp. RON 1,2 0 outs Cora at plate, then Hafner & Martinez Game's on the line right here.
  16. Cotts to face Crisp, Cora, Hunter. Not easy. WP Perlata to 2B. They've got RISP w 0 outs in bot 6th. Yikes!
  17. SOX 5, CLE 5 Bot 6 - El Duque pitching walks Peralta, Crisp up, Cora on deck Detroit sucks. Losing again. 5-2 MIN.
  18. Not a great ab for Harris, but again productive. He moved Uribe into scoring position. 2 outs for Gload.
  19. I'd agree it's not great, but it still was productive. He raised the stress level of the pitcher. Maybe to such a degree it factored in Uribe's walk.
  20. That was a wierd 7 pitch ab for Crede. Takes a ball, fouls off 5 pitches, then flys out to CF. All 6 pitches were in the zone.
  21. Ozzie left him in for 104 pc last week, so I think he gives him 1 more inning.
  22. El Duque is a joy to watch. Even when he's not on his game he's still as competitive as ever. SOX 5, CLE 5 - Top 6, 0 outs (Crede, Uribe, Harris)
  23. The flying under the radar thing doesn't make any sense to me. I think it's just pure & simple bias. Detroit signs top FA in Maggs so they jump over us. Cleveland signs Milwood so they jump over us. Minny has Santana so they remain ahead of us. It really comes down to what players they like & what players they don't. They obviously don't like our players. But what has to shock them is that we are 6-2 & still in line to win our 7th. We are doing this on the strength of a team hitting 241 & holding the opposition to 227. Contrast that with last yr's team that hit 268 but allowed the opposition to hit 272. We are 6-2 because we are getting better than expected competitve pitching and timely hits. But just as we probably won't hold the opposition to 230 all yr we certainly aren't going to end the season hitting 241. It's our pitching that has afforded us the luxury of struggling offensively. I wouldn't consider that flying under the radar. It's more like the radar is busted & we're the biggest plane in the sky right now.
  24. The problem with Harris last year is as an everyday player he had to play vs LH's & he really sucked. Some of the teams like KC were stacked with LH's so it would look like he sucked for a long time. But as a bench player you can pick the matchups on when to play him & his 279A vs RH's looks much better. He still doesn't know how to run the bases. It's a damn crying shame since he's one of the fastest guys in the game if not the fastest. 5 SOX, 4 CLE top 5, 2 outs, Dye on 1st, Rowand hitting
