  1. QUOTE(redandwhite @ Oct 17, 2006 -> 03:28 PM) Brian Anderson was one of the worst offensive players in all of baseball in one of the most forgiving hitters parks. I value defense just as much as the next, but Pierre would be an upgrade over Anderson as a whole in my opinion, especially considering Ozzie Guillen would rather place Thome or Konerko in center than Anderson it seems. And players have never improved in their second season in the majors. I still hate the idea of Pierre. The years where he had great seasons occurred in very spacious ballparks. US Cellular's a bandbox. I think there's reason enough, atleast for me, to believe that he could put up a .260/.300/.300/.600 line
  2. QUOTE(GreatScott82 @ Oct 17, 2006 -> 10:18 AM) But does this team need another power hitter?!? Can Arod steal bases? Because what we need is more speed. ARod putting up .310 50 150 .420/.600/1.020 will make you forget about the Sox surplus of power hitters. ARod can steal bases, as Balta pointed out. Stolen bases are not always a good judge of speed. Carlos Lee's stolen 61 bases over the past 4 years...Carlos Lee is not fast.
  3. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Oct 17, 2006 -> 09:53 AM) 14 errors for a shortstop is not a negative. That makes him #1 in the AL for least errors among qualified shortstops, and 3rd among AL SS's in fielding percentage. Tell me again how that is a negative? You want errors, look at our last shorstop Mr. Valentin and his 40 errors in one season . And $4.15M for a starting SS isn't bad, considering he's got 20 HR power and, as noted above, excellent defense. His hitting is pretty atrocious though, outside the power numbers. I certainly agree on that. OH COME ON IT WAS ONLY 36 But seriously, the greatest defensive SS in White Sox history...so long as you don't consider it Ozzie...frequently made 20-30 errors a year. But he was horrible too. If Uribe's not coming back, it's not because of on-field performance.
  4. QUOTE(MichiganBorn @ Oct 17, 2006 -> 10:20 AM) PS - I was around earlier in the season but I haven't had much to contribute and I figure if I don't have anything intelligent to add its not worth wasting a post. How do you think Jason got 35,000?
  5. QUOTE(knightni @ Oct 16, 2006 -> 11:18 PM) Only to 65 though. His talents are 82 though
  6. QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Oct 17, 2006 -> 06:58 AM) LOL! I see SI calling it the "greatest choke job in NFL history"! Teaches me! Dear SI, The Houston Oilers would like to say "HI!!1!!!111!!!!!" Sincerely yours, Frank Reich
  7. QUOTE(redandwhite @ Oct 16, 2006 -> 08:28 AM) Any player with an on-base percentage struggling to get past .300, regardless of if they slug over .500, isn't as helpful as 10-12 million normally translates to be. Joe Crede shouldn't and won't get 10 million no less 12 ever in my opinion. Adrian Beltre got just under $13 mill a year and a limited no trade clause over 5 years for 1 outstanding season and gold glove defense. What makes you think Joe Crede can't get the same contract with 2-3 years of very good offensive years and gold glove defense?
  8. QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ Oct 17, 2006 -> 12:19 AM) Well, at this point, if they weren't willing to start McCarthy at the end of last season, then I see no reason why he couldn't be traded. $$$$$ and they weren't willing to start McCarthy at the end of last season for fear of destroying his arm. It's not smart to have a pitcher start consistently after having not started at all during the year, with the exception of 1 start.
  9. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Oct 16, 2006 -> 09:40 PM) I knew that. riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight
  10. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Oct 16, 2006 -> 08:08 PM) Akaska not Alaska. lol
  11. QUOTE(Texsox @ Oct 16, 2006 -> 09:07 AM) The Top 5 Signs You're About to Be Dumped (Part I) [/color] "I think we should start seeing other people. And by 'we' I mean 'I.' And by 'should' I mean 'have been.' And by 'other people' I mean 'your best friend.' I'll let you figure out what 'seeing' means." You ask your Magic 8 Ball if she's going to dump you and it says, "Signs point to a prolonged period of masturbation, Loser McDumpy." You're pretty sure "Adios, b****!" wasn't really the answer to every question on last night's "Jeopardy!" She's removed you from her friends list on MySpace and her buddy list on AIM, and is currently attacking her tattoo with a cheese grater. WHERES NUMBER 5, AGHHHHHHHHHHHHH
  12. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Oct 16, 2006 -> 10:28 AM) Si, señor. Ouchskees...have fun with that drive And if/when you go through Pierre, piss in Capitol Lake for me. Or atleast feed the geese.
  13. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Oct 16, 2006 -> 01:09 AM) Pretty much?? well Heads lives in Iowa, I figure that's worse than South Dakota
  14. QUOTE(SnB @ Oct 16, 2006 -> 11:13 AM) 50 bucks says dontrelle makes an appearance, If Thome isn't in it, I'm going to be disappointed
  15. this thread has turned into a giant pwning fest...with all due respect to our actual Tiger fan representatives who have some class
  16. QUOTE(redandwhite @ Oct 16, 2006 -> 01:41 AM) Joe Crede doesn't deserve 10 million dollars, regardless of how many years that deal would be worth. Right now, no. If he puts up a similar season next year, he's got $12 mill in the bag.
  17. QUOTE(shipps @ Oct 16, 2006 -> 02:06 AM) You have to get a new girl as soon as possible.She will make you forget all about that brawd.GET A NEW CHIC AS SOON AS POSSIBLE,TRUST ME.And dont try to make your old girl jealous with the new girl because you are naturally gonna wanna do that,but dont.Totally forget about her and dont be a friend. Only about 2 months late
  18. Heads, you going up to the Akaska area again?
  19. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Oct 16, 2006 -> 01:05 AM) Who wouldn't want to live in South Dakota if given the chance? you and pretty much everyone else on this board
  20. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Oct 16, 2006 -> 12:36 AM) I also took great pleasure in seeing that even though I am a huge Polamalu fan. The best part was after the tackle Polamalu just walked away from the play like he was tackled normally, how much you want to bet if Ricky Williams or Al Harris were dragged down by their hair they'd be raising hell they second they hit the ground? Meanwhile the entire Pittsburgh Steelers defense went to beat the holy hell out of Larry Johnson.
  21. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Oct 15, 2006 -> 04:45 PM) I have a question to pretty much anyone in general. David Robinson went to Oklahoma out of high school and was the Big 12 Newcomer of the Year his freshman year. So why did he transfer to D2 University of South Dakota? please
  22. Hey, how about some other Chicago team winning the World Series twice?
  23. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Oct 16, 2006 -> 12:27 AM) More teams? Bah... Baseball seems to be the only sport where, if you made the playoffs, you really earned it. Football comes in second, but you can usually pick out one team per year that really isn't that good, and is just a product of playing poor teams or having teams in its division suck real hard. BTW -- before anyone brings it up, the NL of 2006 (sans the Mets) is an exception, not the rule. I do anything to try and get the Sox in the postseason.
  24. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Oct 16, 2006 -> 12:33 AM) 20th out of 35. thxmch...and I was right. Not bottom 3rd, but more or less towards the bottom of the 2nd. Considering his defense, his price, and that this was his worst season since 2002, I'm fairly happy that he's coming back next year at $4.15 mill...so long as these troubles don't hurt him much long term, which is a real possibility.
