  1. QUOTE(Felix @ Sep 10, 2006 -> 11:38 PM) Definitely. We could then probably swing Pablo Ozuna for Johan Santana, I heard the Twins are getting sick of his winning ways and want to add another piranha to their team. Except that Uribe and Podsednik is a potential realistic option for Philadelphia, seeing as how Rollins is making $7 mill in each of the next 2 seasons, $7.5 mill the two after that, along with an $8.5 mill option or a $2 mill buyout. If they can get out of that, I'm sure they'd take the salary cut this year in Pods and Uribe, along with shorter contracts. It's also not like Philly is loaded with OFers...they would have some use for Podsednik, and then obviously Uribe as well. A prospect would undoubtedly need to be thrown in, but we are not talking about a stupid offer here. I tend to think it's pretty close, especially if they can't find a taker for Burrell, and I doubt they will with the $27 mill he'll earn in 07 and 08. Gillick is still trying to dump salary over there, because that was a big friggin mess Wade got that team into.
  2. QUOTE(MSHAWKS @ Sep 10, 2006 -> 09:43 PM) I would say that the patience of Sox fans with young prospects is shorter when the team is in the middle of a pennant race. And rightfully so. And who is to blame for putting the prospects in the game? Sure as hell not them. Ozzie should know better. He apparently doesn't.
  3. i love it when sf1 talks to himself lol
  4. QUOTE(MSHAWKS @ Sep 10, 2006 -> 08:39 PM) I haven't ripped Sean Tracey, he is what he is.....a mediocre minor league pitcher. However, if someone else wants to take the time to bash him, I certainly won't jump to his defense. I'm largely just sick of people on this board jumping to conclusions for every player the Sox put in there. Give the kid a chance. Don't frickin destroy him because of one game in September. Compare Juan Rincon and Sean Tracey. Better yet, compare Scot Shields and Sean Tracey. People here have been willing to give up like top quality, blue chip prospects for Scot Shields because he is so good. Shields 2000(AAA) - 5.41 ERA 1.47 WHIP 158 H 114 R 98 ER 16 HR 82 BB 156 K in 163 IP 2001(AAA) - 4.97 ERA 1.25 WHIP 141 H 84 R 76 ER 24 HR 31 BB 104 K in 137.2 IP Tracey 2005(AA) - 4.07 ERA 1.41 WHIP 154 H 80 R 74 ER 13 HR 76 BB 106 K in 163.2 2006(AAA) - 4.30 ERA 1.44 WHIP 111 H 67 R 62 ER 17 HR 76 BB 102 K in 129.2 IP ...just sayin'
  5. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Sep 10, 2006 -> 08:28 PM) Ummm, what? How exactly has Thome been struggling??? August: .329/.453/.586 September: .358/.410/.581 Thome's worst month was June when he went .264/.371/.514 This is what I call PWN3D
  6. QUOTE(MSHAWKS @ Sep 10, 2006 -> 08:26 PM) What, in your opinion, does Tracey bring that any average AAA reliever couldn't also bring? Not a ton. Good stuff, funny looking delivery...he can be effective. He'll never be a closer, but JFC, give the guy a chance. Let him throw in some situations where he'll be comfortable, instead of a high pressure situation where he is where one mistake kills him. My turn. What, in your opinion, has Sean Tracey done to deserve any of the amount of flack he receives? He's pitched like 4 innings, got ripped apart and thrown under the bus by Ozzie for not hitting Blalock, and gave up a run in the 9th inning in a game he should not have sniffed on a day the offense took a s***. Don't blame Tracey, don't take any of this s*** out on Tracey, take it out on Ozzie. Tracey didn't meander his way on to the field, randomly find the pitcher's mound, and just start pitching...someone brought him into a game he should not have pitched in.
  7. QUOTE(SoxHawk1980 @ Sep 10, 2006 -> 04:42 PM) Great, that's all we need is another speedy, but low-OBP "grinder". Instead of more grinders, this needs more good baseball players. That means that they get on base and have at least line drive power. I can obviously tell this wasn't directed at me, but what the hell's wrong with Jimmy Rollins, if the price were to be right? I don't want him leading off, and he's a better 2-hole hitter, but players like Crawford, Rollins, Reyes, and even Furcal and Lugo don't need to get on at a .380 clip to be successful leadoff hitters. Due to their speed, they can get on at a .330 clip and still score a lot of runs, what with XBH's, stolen bases, and scoring from first on a gapper. The Sox have virtually no one that can score from first on a gapper right now.
  8. QUOTE(BearSox @ Sep 10, 2006 -> 06:28 PM) Yes, he was having control problems, but Boone Logan couldn't throw a strike either, and McCarthy threw straight fastballs right down the middle as his strikes. Why put all the blame on Tracey? I don't think he even gave up an earned run. He's got good stuff and potential, and had a shakey outing. Now everyone wants him gone? give me a break. If you want to blame someone for this game, blame the offense. White Sox fans like to jump to conclusions, and they also tend to flock together. If one does, they all do. Pretty sad. I like what Tracey brings. I doubt he pitches another inning with the Sox all year, unless they're eliminated.
  9. QUOTE(MSHAWKS @ Sep 10, 2006 -> 07:51 PM) Travis Hafner is just as good as Albert Pujols. With a third of the hype
  10. QUOTE(cgaudin @ Sep 10, 2006 -> 04:22 PM) I'm pretty close to dropping his performance appellation, but not yet. "Half-game" Vasquez nees to show some consistency, at least the next 3 games. Some consistency? How about some f'in runs instead?
  11. Meanwhile, the Chicago White Sox league leading offense puts up a 2 spot.
  12. The Sox have lost 6 Vazquez starts in a row.
  13. f*** the Bills how do you choke that f***ing bad wow
  14. QUOTE(CYGarland @ Sep 10, 2006 -> 03:50 AM) I agree, Garcia needs to go BAD! Keep Vazquez on as the 5th starter or trade him too, but either way, Garcia needs to go! I would actually love to see Vazquez starting next year in the 3rd game of the year. I wouldn't mind him starting game 2 of the ALDS for the Sox either...but maybe that's just me looking at some splitss. SILLY ME.
  15. QUOTE(LowerCaseRepublican @ Sep 10, 2006 -> 09:37 AM) Alex Sanchez etc. took steroids because they help increase fast twitch muscles which helps with hand-eye coordination, bat speed, speed, etc. Steroids are not all about power hitting -- which is a common misconception regarding anabolic steroids. Hence why relievers would take steroids too. The increase in muscle regeneration is huge for them, and allows them to be pitch well for days and days in a row.
  16. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Sep 9, 2006 -> 04:22 PM) Makes sense... its not like they are coming out of the same minor league system having learned from the same coaches into the same big league situation or anything.... Why wouldn't you compare them? They both have/had the same long swing they are/were trying to cut down on, after having success with it at the minor league level. They both have/had the same problem with the hard breaking stuff away. They both bring superior defense to the game even as rookies, and are working under pressure at the major league level to learn how to hit. I don't know where the comparison between the two players would come from at all though... Duh, havent you learned? Brian Anderson is a communist. Thus, you must compare him to Jose Contreras.
  17. QUOTE(The Critic @ Sep 9, 2006 -> 04:31 PM) Why do you write the score like it's a volleyball score? ...6 serving 7... Honestly, c'mon man. You ALWAYS say the highest score first.
  18. QUOTE(Soxfan in NY @ Sep 9, 2006 -> 12:06 PM) Hey guys I know my post count is a whopping one, but i've been around alot longer, just reading posts since the beginning of last yr...never registered until recently, and just never had the "urge" to post or so you can say. Until now, remember our collasal "skid" last year, i'm sure you all do. What was the one big game/at-bat that seemed to change everything and throw the momentum back in our corner? Joe Crede's walkoff against, none other, than the Indians. I truely hope that this is the same thing.... heres to our first big tear through the season! We ended up losing that Cleveland series.
  19. there is nothing better than going to a party, seeing the sox lose, going out to smoke, and coming back in to a SOX WINNER YAYA
  20. Thomas is just friggin awesome. There is nothing left to be said.
  21. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Sep 8, 2006 -> 03:58 PM) WHen did Quickman get a new screen name? lol I just hate it when people don't even research what they are talking about. People don't realize how good Vazquez has been since the start of August. He's lost 5 straight starts, all of which were very winnable games.
  22. QUOTE(Winning Ugly @ Sep 8, 2006 -> 03:04 PM) I meant to say Javy or Garcia. I still f***ing give up Javy's 2nd half >>> Contreras Javy's 2nd half >>> Buehrle's
  23. QUOTE(Duck @ Sep 7, 2006 -> 06:15 PM) Francouer is a dime a dozen player? How many other 22 year olds are going to drive in 100 runs this year and have it considered a sophomore slump year? How many other 22 year olds have the opportunity to drive in 100? He's hitting 3rd or 5th in a pretty poor hitting Atlanta offense, BUT he has 2 guys ahead of him getting on at good clips(Renteria, .370 OBP; Giles, .351 OBP). If you put those two in front of Sweeney, I'm sure he'd have the ability to drive in 100 runs as well. The fact that the Sox have better players suited for the 3 hole is why he won't.
  24. QUOTE(WCSox @ Sep 7, 2006 -> 06:04 PM) LOL, based on what? Certainly not productivity... Contreras: 4.09 ERA Garland: 4.37 ERA Buehrle: 4.71 ERA Vazquez: 4.80 ERA Garcia: 5.10 ERA None of these guys are at Loaiza or Colon's level in '03. It's not even close. I'd rather go into the playoffs with the '03 incarnations of Loaiza, Colon, and Buehrle than any three of our current inconsistent/over-the-hill starters. I wouldn't. Garland's lights out, Vazquez has turned a corner, and then I'm taking my chances with 2 of 3 other guys who all have World Series rings.
  25. QUOTE(qwerty @ Sep 7, 2006 -> 05:27 PM) Francouer? There are guys that put up numbers like him dime a dozen if you give them 600 at-bats plus a season. His approach up there is just disgusting to watch. He is the definition of a guess hitter. are you trying to tell me that a .736 OPS isn't good? THAT DOESNT MAKE SENSE
