QUOTE(CanOfCorn @ Sep 15, 2006 -> 02:25 PM) My wife makes this sandwich...she calls it the Special Sandwich...I think it's special because she only makes it when liquored...but it is the following. Toast, peanut butter, fried egg, melted cheese. Yes, it sounds gross, but it's EXCELLENT! But I'd like you to notice...NO KETCHUP!!! How about toast, peanut butter, and bacon? That is pretty good eats As for my hot dogs...it depends. If we are looking at an Oscar Meyer 6 inch hot dog, it's ketchup. If we are talking a quarter pound, foot long hot dog that it is going to take some time to eat...let's just say I won't eat it without some kraut and mustard.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Sep 18, 2006 -> 11:35 AM) I just LOVE the fact that the Bears play the AFC East this year simply because of the Phins and Bills games (both games also being played in Chicago) this shall be a fun season. The Bills defense seems solid as hell, and they can play on the road, nearly beating New England at Gillette, going down to Dolphins Stadium and putting on a great defensive display against a revamped offense, led by Mularkey, who as I seem to recall, held some position within the Bills organization last year. The Bills game will not be easy, so long as they stay healthy. It might be like a 7-3 game.

Lost in the action of football today... The Florida-Atlanta game went to the 10th tied at 3-3. The Marlins scored 4 in the top half, capped by a Dan Uggla 2-run homer. The Braves responded with 5 in the bottom half, and won 8-7

QUOTE(greg775 @ Sep 17, 2006 -> 02:48 PM) Also Pods became a disaster making 2 of our 3 of positions pretty weak. So Ozzie should realize this, and then go with the most productive OF he can put out there on a consistent basis. Pods did nothing well, Mackowiak plays a solid LF and can hit, and Anderson can play a great CF and not much beyond that. Looks to me like the OF should have been Mack-Anderson-Dye. Of course, we can't blame Ozzie for the mis-shuffled outfield. -
I honestly just wish the next two weeks would fly by so that we could see if they continue to choke or if they pull wine and bread out of their ass and somehow make it to October That's all I really want at this point

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Sep 17, 2006 -> 10:23 PM) I enjoyed a lot of games in 1998 and 2000 and 2001 oh and 2003 HEY! I've enjoyed games every single season since I've been watching baseball. Just because I enjoyed a bunch of games this season doesn't mean this year is any less disappointing, infuriating or confusing. You know, atleast in 2003, even though they eventually choked, the Sox gave the fans of Chicago a hell of a run. 7 games back at the ASB, only to take a 2 game lead in the division come mid-September. It's just unfortunate that it couldn't have turned out better. This year, they've been sitting on the pot all year, waiting to s***, waiting to s***, and they waited too long. Instead, they have finally been kicked into the s***ter.

15 - -2 The MLB exec's will look back and just give us 3 games, and then take 1 away, and they'll win out. YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

QUOTE(MSHAWKS @ Sep 17, 2006 -> 08:59 PM) Kenny wasn't infallible. He didn't provide Ozzie with a viable back-up centerfielder, which surely cost the Sox 2-3 games. I think 2-3 is a very conservative guess. How many games did Mackowiak cost the Sox in CF because of his defense as opposed to how many he won because of his offense?

QUOTE(Cuck the Fubs @ Sep 17, 2006 -> 08:45 PM) Michigan-OSU football>Yankees-Red Sox In that case... Duke-UNC > all

QUOTE(cgaudin @ Sep 17, 2006 -> 06:09 PM) Dude, please. It's over. So if the Sox somehow sell their soul, pay off the Tigers or the umps, and sweep the Tigers, that they are still dead, seeing as how they'd be 2 back of Detroit with 10 left? I don't buy it. It's highly unlikely, it's almost guaranteed not to happen, but I will stay with this team so long as they have any potential for a glimmer of hope. It doesn't look good - in fact, it looks worse than bad - but with a sweep, there is hope. Anything less, and the season is completely over.
-
I will say, if the Sox want any glimmer of hope, Detroit cannot leave Chicago with more wins then they have now.

QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Sep 16, 2006 -> 08:45 AM) I'd love to see Gload platooning in left with Pablo. But I still don't know if he is a leadoff hitter. Better than Pods right now, though. I do however think that Ross would be a really good 2-hole hitter: high average, puts the ball in play, can put the ball on the right side well, a little speed, and knows how to bunt. I'll take a stab. I'd bet Gload would have similar steal numbers to Gooch if he played full time. High percentage, low attempts... maybe 7 to 10 steals at 70 to 80% on a full year. If he put an emphasis on it, learned to read pitchers, maybe a little more. I said 15 SB before, but I think 10 is more realistic. That seems like a reasonable number to me. It would be a hell of a lot better than Podsednik looking at strike 3 all goddamn day. And fathom...duh, that would mean Ozzie's in panic mode. He doesn't want his players to think he is panicking. Of course, the flip side of that argument is that the players are sucking and a change or two need to be made. Anyone think Nick Punto was the Twins starting 3Bman going into the year? Of course, now he is, he's playing a ridiculously good 3B while also producing very well.

doesn't the defending world champion automatically get in the playoffs?!!?!11!!?!!?!

QUOTE(LowerCaseRepublican @ Sep 17, 2006 -> 03:24 PM) Next you'll be telling me that if you get 3 strikes, you'll strike out in baseball. That would be news to Podsednik

Good to see Podsednik is in prime form

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Sep 17, 2006 -> 04:43 PM) At Vikings will be somewhat tough, but Brad Johnson SUCKS so the Bears should dominate that D. Just get 20 points and get on the plane 3-0. If I'm remembering right, the Vikings are 8-3 since Johnson took over as the starting QB. He may not be flashy, but he wins them games. That's all they really care about. And the Vikings D looks pretty tough so far this year. It's gonna be a good game, that's for sure

Rowand and TRU HAHA DOLPHINS GOT PWNED

QUOTE(TLAK @ Sep 17, 2006 -> 11:19 AM) As to standing pat, remember the White Sox would have had last year’s team PLUS 5 more months of Frank Thomas. As to bringing in Thome to compensate for a perceived weakness vs right handed starters the numbers from MLB Press Pass are: 2005 V RHS 76-43 = .637 V LHS 23-20 = .535 2006 V RHS 54-34 = .614 V LHS 30-29 = .508 I don’t see much improvement, they are 20 some points down from both sides. What’s done is done. I had my say in the Evil Kenny Williams thread in the spring. In KW’s defense, nobody knew Big Frank would stay healthy and play so good, nobody knew Podsednik and Anderson would struggle, that Politte and Hermanson would get hurt. Rowand could have broken his ankle playing for the Sox too. The bottom line is there are 14 games to go, and the White Sox are within 3 games of the playoffs. Another championship is within reach. Spose any of that had to do with a 3.61 team ERA last year, compared to the 4.52 ERA they've put up this year?

QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Sep 17, 2006 -> 03:05 AM) Indeed, this team is so done. I f***in' hate them! IF YOU HATE THEM SO MUCH, WHY DONT YOU JUST STOP BEING A SOX FAN, GOSH

QUOTE(caffeinated @ Sep 16, 2006 -> 07:34 PM) My mistake, I didn't realize that we had such a big problem last year. Thanks goodness we fixed it. I didn't know Frank can't hit against righties. Someone should tell Javier Vasquez too. You're right, silly me, we never beat a right handed pitcher all last year. What in the hell was I thinking? People don't realize this s*** at all. If the Sox had Thomas this year, they would have been sellers at the deadline. What good is having a hell of a second half by Frank when you're 15 games out of the division come July?

QUOTE(jphat007 @ Sep 16, 2006 -> 08:09 PM) Yep. And unfortunately I don't think thye have much of a chance in the playoffs. I'll be rooting for them though. I think they have a better chance then most people think they do. I think they have the 2nd best pitching in the AL right now behind Minnesota, and their offense is highly underrated, especially since Frank's resurgence. They are, at the very least, just as dangerous as any other team heading to the playoffs.

QUOTE(BigHurtHallofFame201? @ Sep 16, 2006 -> 05:40 PM) Wow. You guys are hilarious. I didn't know I had to specify (more than I already did) that by "where" I was referring to the fact that he has rarely played the past 20 games. That's some asinine behavior in response to a valid point. LOL, we are just all a bit senile right now because of the Sox play. In reality, he should be playing more...I'm not sure why he's not.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Sep 16, 2006 -> 07:09 PM) and if someone gives you the equivalent talent-wise, it doesn't hurt to be open. I liked your idea until there. Make them overpay for Crede. If someone overpays for Crede, all is well. If someone just wants to give up the equivalent, tell them to screw off

QUOTE(caffeinated @ Sep 16, 2006 -> 07:09 PM) Maybe we can trade Thome for Frank Thomas. I am sure we would have to pick up some of the salary, but it would be worth it. Oh that's right, Thomas is a cancer in the clubhouse. I could see it in the lack of A's chemistry. Kenny, are you man enough to admit your mistake yet? Thome over Thomas was a mistake? ARE YOU PEOPLE F***ING KIDDING ME The Sox major weakness last year were righties with good breaking stuff. To counter that, they brought in a left-handed power bat to stick in the middle of the order. So I ask you...since when does Thomas hit from the left-side of the plate?
