QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Sep 14, 2006 -> 10:50 AM) Yeah it would be an 8-10 hour drive for me, but road trips rule. There is nothing more fun than catching the Sox on the road. It is a lot of fun, I do recall that. I also do remember quite a few Sox fans there on my last trip in 2004. There were probably 20,000, and I'd say probably 3-4K were Sox fans.

2006 White Sox Catch-All Thread
witesoxfan replied to greasywheels121's topic in 2006 Season in Review
QUOTE(cgaudin @ Sep 14, 2006 -> 10:48 AM) I'm stating the obvious here but it's quite clear that regardless of how good some think this offense is, it almost always gets shut down by good pitching. If we should get in the playoffs, then I hope we get the Skankees, cause that's the team with the weakest pitching, other than ours. The Twins and the A's will mow us down in detail. The National League has the Astros, but they won't make the playoffs. Neither the A's nor Twins have nearly the offense the Yankees do. It's just a matter of getting there and hoping that the pitching can do it's job, and hoping the offense can scratch 4 runs across the board. Or if you are playing the Yankees, hoping the offense can scratch like 18 runs together. -
QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Sep 14, 2006 -> 10:41 AM) Heck it is probably cheaper to do this than to go to Soxfest... plus you get to see a baseball game. Just a longer drive, atleast for you. Probably worth it in the end. Except the Dome blows serious ass. Atleast the dome dogs are good...a little kraut, some mustard on em....omg how those are good

QUOTE(2nd_city_saint787 @ Sep 14, 2006 -> 12:41 AM) why trade away crede for chone figgins when chone figgins clone is on the sox bench...Pablo Ozuna, hes unproven as a starter but really i think he can be just as good as chone and you wont have to give up crede Except that Figgins can draw a walk. And he can play adequate defense anywhere he is put. And he can actually steal.

QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Sep 13, 2006 -> 11:21 PM) yanks will probably break it unless redsox do some serious shopping this off-season. or the offseason after that, or after that, or after that, or after that, or after that

QUOTE(Texsox @ Sep 13, 2006 -> 08:50 PM) How can this not make anyone here smile Link Was that 1Bman Shawn Casey? I have a hard time telling the two apart

Predict the date the Sox get eliminated

QUOTE(SoxHawk1980 @ Sep 13, 2006 -> 10:20 PM) Thread re-opened! I'll say Sept. 30. Book it. K, I'm sure you're gonna throw a party when it happens too. -
QUOTE(Sam @ Sep 13, 2006 -> 10:04 PM) Yeah you guys won the first matchup, but now you are losing in the second round. Better make things happen. Still need just the 10 posts?

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Sep 13, 2006 -> 09:51 PM) ^^ At this point, all we can do is enjoy the ride, and for the best. God I hope the offense looks half as good as it did today for the rest of the year. If it does, the Sox are playoff bound.
-
Well, asking White Sox fans when they believe the team will be eliminated in itself is pretty much outright rude. I also think everyone pretty much is well aware of their opinion on whether they feel if the Sox will make the playoffs or not...I feel that every other thread on here, as well as the game thread and the post-game thread do it justice too. I'm not really trying to start anything, but I kinda did already. However, on the topic at hand, my opinion hasn't changed in the past 4 hours or whatever it's been - this team is playing too inconsistently right now for me to make a true judgment of them. One day they look great, the next they get shutdown by Kason f***in Gabbard, they next they walk-off with a victory, and the next they look like piss again. It is just waaaay to hard to tell at this point in time.
-
Isn't this like the 4th thread like this in the past 2 days? In regards to the actual question...with the inconsistency that this team is playing with, it's impossible to say one way or the other. It's just a wait and see ordeal at this point.

I know I'd love to, but I am just a poor college kid afterall. Definitely looking into it though.
-
Great game by the offense, and obviously a great outing for Garcia. That was shades of the first half offense. Paully went the other way with a couple pitches too, and lots and lots of hits. And they beat a lefty too...craziness. Never say never.
-
Yeaaaaaah, I wasn't even close to serious in my last post. Good to see Garcia show up today though. That was nice.

SOX VS ANGELS.... Garcia 1 hit gem
witesoxfan replied to letsgoarow's topic in 2006 Season in Review
QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Sep 13, 2006 -> 03:42 PM) The Twins really are like the Patriots. Some of the key pieces they have really are not that good. However, with the "system" in place, they play like all stars. It really is incredible. Ron Gardenhire is also the most underrated manager in the league, still to this day. -

Wow, Romero has been horrible -
QUOTE(bighurt574 @ Sep 13, 2006 -> 12:18 PM) With all the talk of unbreakable records - 56-game hit streak, Ripken's consecutive games - is this the greatest record in baseball? The prior record for consecutive division wins was 5 (granted, it is a little easier now with 3 divisions per league). talk to me in 2012

QUOTE(greg775 @ Sep 13, 2006 -> 02:19 AM) Thanx, I sure get sick of seeing our guys face lefties, especially AJ, Jim and of course Pods. Greg, I think everyone is just sick period of seeing Pods -
QUOTE(loltrain @ Sep 12, 2006 -> 09:10 PM) How about Craig Monroe with 3 outfield assists in the game? God Carlos Lee is dumb

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Sep 12, 2006 -> 03:47 PM) We are 23rd in OPS against lefties, 19th in batting average, 3rd in home runs. What a telling stat about the philosophy of this offense. You can't win games by hitting just solo homers. -
QUOTE(Frank the Tank 35 @ Sep 13, 2006 -> 12:55 AM) Frank post-ASB RISP: .353/.434/.662 in 68 AB with 41 RBI, 7 HR, and 17 SINGLES Jim post-ASB RISP: .235/.409/.529 in 34 AB with 11 RBI, 2 HR, 4 2B, and 2 singles There's a flaw, of course. A 118 point disparity in average. A 25 point disparity in OBP. Thomas has been better, there's no doubt...but it seems pitchers, most likely right-handed pitchers, are pitching around Thome a little bit. If you are getting nothing but bad pitches, why would you swing?
-
LOL, I have no idea. I do know that if it makes it to theatres, I am going, just to see how the hell they could try and make it interesting. I'll probably fall asleep 5-6 times, but it'll be well worth the price of admission. This is probably a case of good book, horrible movie.
-
You guessed it. The ever so popular, book, Moneyball, is being made into a movie. I just gotta laugh at this. How is this even going to be bearable?
