  1. QUOTE(elrockinMT @ May 13, 2005 -> 03:30 PM) You can only hope that Shingo gets it straightened out, but as has been remarked here somewhere, "shades of Bill Koch." Except that Shingo's arm is not burned out, and it is hard to make fun of the way Shingo looks, because he does not have a silly ass Billy-goat goatee.
  2. QUOTE(Kalapse @ May 13, 2005 -> 02:11 PM) - Contreras + Hermanson Hermanson too of course. And while Contreras has virtually no shot of becoming an All-Star(the 5th best starting pitcher on a team usually won't be an All-Star), he does have the numbers, right now, of an all-star, minus his win total. 1-0 with a 3.18 ERA and a 1.24 WHIP along with a BAA of under .200 is pretty sick.
  3. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ May 13, 2005 -> 03:25 PM) Yessir awesome i cant wait
  4. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ May 13, 2005 -> 03:11 PM) OH MY f***ING GOD You wanna have a 3some?
  5. Not that the A's are at record wise where they were in 2002, but the A's did start that season out 25-28 after May, and they ended up winning 100+ games. Then again, a 20 game win streak in August will help that
  6. I think I need to go to an Argentinian soccer game sometime soon. And I hate soccer
  7. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ May 13, 2005 -> 02:56 PM) Well, at least we won't have to worry about having people work on 3 days rest. I might rather have Garland go on 3 days rest. Sinkerballers are known to be better on 3 days rest. Hell, look at Lowe last year against New York. He started game 7 on 2 days rest, and gave up like 1 hit in 6 innings.
  8. QUOTE(MurcieOne @ May 13, 2005 -> 02:53 PM) If you like this one, e-mail me and i'll send you the one i got of him in the shower after the game..... that one is classic.... and yes this post is not in green. I know a few people that will be emailing you.
  9. QUOTE(DePloderer @ May 13, 2005 -> 02:32 PM) Hi all On the back of subscribing to the North American Sports Network so as to follow NASCAR last summer, I started to watch the baseball coverage, (only to get my moneys worth!) and amazingly got hooked on the sport within days. I had complete free reign as to who to support, I chose the White Sox because the Bristol White Sox were the nearest team to where my father in law lives in Virginia and so believed them to be my local(?) team. When I started to follow them they were leading the division by quite a way, they then proceeded to lose, lose and lose. So apoligies to you all but the mid season slump last year was all my fault! Now my questions; Having never seen Frank Thomas play, how good is he realy and who will make way if and when he returns? Finaly, is our current form the norm or are we in dreamworld and what is the chance of us winning something this season? Regards from the UK Deploderer Thomas is not what he once was, but as far as just pure offense is concerned, he is still probably the best on the Sox. He'll probably hit in the .260-.270 range in his return, as he is getting readjusted, but his OBP will still probably in the .400 range(which is very good), and his SLG% will be around .500, meaning he is getting a lot of hits that go for extra bases, which will be bringing in a lot of runners that are already on base. In the 4 months he will probably play, he will probably put up something around .265 20 60 .900, which is very solid for 4 months. This dreamworld of us being on pace to win about 120 games will probably slow down a little, but this team is very much for real. 5 very solid starters in the rotation, all of which should continue at a similar pace that they are currently on, and the bullpen could improve in all reality if Marte can get some control, Vizcaino can figure s*** out, and Shingo can do both of what Marte and Viz need to do. If that happens, the pen will be dangerous as it is. The offense should also get better, especially when Thomas gets back.
  10. QUOTE(chisoxfan14 @ May 13, 2005 -> 02:30 PM) I've hugged Willie Harris!! wow, that was wonderfuL! Have you showered since then?
  11. 1) Lyle Mouton none of the others matter
  12. QUOTE(SoxFanForever @ May 13, 2005 -> 02:14 AM) Rasheed Wallace is the best thing ever to look up when browsing urban dictionary. http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?...eed+wallace&r=f LMAO
  13. QUOTE(rafacosta @ May 13, 2005 -> 06:52 AM) There is a lot of RFers that we can get. I rather take Jose Guillen and his contract than get Wilson...Jose Guillen's stats: http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/players/profile?statsId=5753 He is making 3.5 mil this year... This assuming Washington isn't blinded by it being their first year in the league and them thinking they have a shot against the clearly superior Florida and Atlanta teams, even if they are only like 6 out at the trade deadline. This also assuming that they realize Guillen has been known to be problem in the clubhouse. If they have no problem f***ing with team chemistry, by all means do it. I gotta feeling that KW does not want to f*** with team chemistry.
  14. QUOTE(Kalapse @ May 13, 2005 -> 01:03 PM) Top American League 2nd Basemen Name Avg HR RBI Runs SB Brian Roberts .381 10 30 30 12 Alfonso Soriano .285 10 24 27 5 Tadahito Iguchi .328 2 15 16 7 Chone Figgins .268 2 15 19 12 I'm pretty sure Roberts and Soriano have second base covered. Soriano has 8 more HRs, 9 more RBIs and 11 more runs than Iguchi. Iguchi has 40 points higher on his Avg and 2 more stolen bases + better defense. OMFG, how does Roberts have 10 homers?! I'd realized he had eclipsed his career mark in April, but jeebus, I figured he would not have 10 by now. That guy is just f***in smokin hot. Anyways, if we want all-stars from the Sox...how about the entire rotation?
  15. QUOTE(Jabroni @ May 13, 2005 -> 12:23 AM) I don't see why anyone would want Preston Wilson. He basically IS Jermaine Dye but he is making more money. They both rarely walk, strike out a lot, USUALLY hit around .265 with a .333 OBP, and USUALLY play good defense. Their career numbers are so similar it's scary... Jermaine Dye | Preston Wilson The main differences between the two is that Preston Wilson can play CF and can steal bases. Otherwise, they are nearly clones. Their bats are almost identical. Also, keep in mind that Wilson's monster 2003 season was Coors-aided. Not to be an asshole, but wasn't that like exactly what qwerty said earlier in the thread?
  16. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ May 12, 2005 -> 11:08 PM) Edinger is gone. Bears fans should be happy. Brien has one bad game in his career and that was last year's playoff game. He's still a damn good kicker though and better than the declining Edinger. 2 bad games He missed 2 PAT's with the Vikes against the Bills in 01 I believe, costing them the game. I remember that game very well. I laughed a lot.
  17. QUOTE(103 mph screwball @ May 12, 2005 -> 11:49 PM) Dumping Dye after he supposedly took less money to play for the Sox, would not look good to future free agent's. I just don't see that happening. I hope he gets on track. He is hitting like s***. Dumping him makes sense, and it would appear to future FAs that if you perform like s*** for the Sox, you will be dumped. My take on it atleast
  18. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ May 12, 2005 -> 11:40 PM) He sure does. It was a full no-trade clause, but he said that New York didn't want him anymore and knew they weren't going to give him anymore chances. He said if someone doesn't want you in their house, then you leave. He said he likes Ozzie and that since the White Sox wanted him, that's why he waived his no trade clause. Of course El duque coming over is even better for him. See, there's way less pressure on Contreras(even if making the playoffs and stuff) because the White Sox are a low-key team and if he blows something, we'll be pissed, but we'll forgive. If you are saying that Shingo would think that the White Sox were happy with him since they are trying to trade him, I think you would be wrong. Given, I don't think they'll trade him...even with how s***ty he has been, he is still a lovable player on the Sox, and is a media darling.
  19. Jose Contreras had a full no-trade clause, and was guaranteed a playoff spot too He accepted a trade to the Sox. Not like a player on a winning team waiving their no-trade clause is completely unheard of (this if he even does have a no-trade clause)
  20. QUOTE(TheBlackSox8 @ May 12, 2005 -> 11:26 AM) other long ones: Stone Temple Pilots, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Rage Against the Machine, Days of the New, Theory of a Deadman There is also Temple of the Dog, but that was just a one album thing in memory of Andy Wood, so whether that is counted or not is something I am unsure of. I also like Velvet Revolver. Audioslave is decent too.
  21. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ May 12, 2005 -> 10:10 PM) Just got home. Had free ticks tonight, along with a free parking pass, spend & bucks tonight, and saw one hell of a game. I now have a very Hetrosexual crush on Jon Garland. I prefer man-crush, but both work f***in Sox...man are these f***ers good
  22. QUOTE(flippedoutpunk @ May 11, 2005 -> 05:23 PM) Me too, i hope he liked the pic i attached to the email.. Right Tmar??
  23. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ May 11, 2005 -> 05:07 PM) As an ANgel fan...they aren't very good. They will make the playoffs solely because they are playing in a crappy division, aside from that they are just an average team. And they looked like s*** today, it made me want to puke out there...luckily it was a lovely day though. I'm not sure I'd right them into the playoffs yet. The A's offense is not hitting near where it can and has before. I expect that to improve as the year goes on. I also expect the pitching to be a little worse, but it will still be solid throughout the year. You also have the M's, whose offense looks decent this year, and if the pitching staff comes around, they could be a very dangerous team as well. That division could be a crapshoot all the way through the season...will be interesting to see who ends up winning it, because you know if the A's are close, Beane is gonna try and add a piece to the puzzle.
  24. QUOTE(sircaffey @ May 11, 2005 -> 05:01 PM) It's still amazes me that people get so attached to certain prospects that they have almost never seen play. I remember people this way with Rauch, Borchard, Malone, etc., etc...Too bad we held on to them too long... Wagner completes our pitching staff, and makes it quite possibly the best in the AL. With the way prospects have worked out for the Sox, I'd almost rather trade them at peak value for a shot at the World Series than hang onto them to save a little money in the future.
