Sam Adams, Heineken, and Mike's Hard, from 1-3 Apparently, I'm not a fan of the Miller's. #23 MGD #24 Miller High Life #25 Miller Lite
-
I haven't seen it enough to be tired of it. I think it's pretty cool the first couple times you see it, but I'm sure it may get annoying after a while. Most commercials do
-
That would make a lot of sense Still, even considering that, you'd have to give up something pretty solid to get him. Cleveland said that they were trading Milton Bradley this past ST and they still got a decent prospect for him
-
Which would explain to me why they'd be willing to keep him, even if they keep him until the end of ST or even into the season. They want to get as much value out of him as possible. Or they truly dont want to trade him...either/or.
-
His peripherals also make him the worst fit for USCF too. His GO-AO ratio has been around .80 combined over the last 3 years or so...that does not bode well for pitching in a pitcher friendly ball park. That could put his ERA at around 5.00.
-
Valentin had 1 terrible year defensively at SS where he made 36 errors over a full year. That was his worst year ever defensively. He was moved around because someone in the White Sox organization put too much into making errors and not enough into the plays he makes. They didn't realize that if you hardly move, you don't make many errors. Therefore, to reduce the number of errors made, KW brought in Royce Clayton for Aaron Myette. In the technicality of it, Jose Valentin was moved because of defensive purposes, but that was mainly due to someone's thought and not because the numbers over the long haul necessarily supported that idea. So I ask...are you going to believe ONE person over hundreds of people? If so, I have some great ocean front property to sell you in Wyoming.
-
Buy low, sell high There was a reason KW hung onto Paulie last year instead of trading him for Odalis Perez.
-
It could be...if the payroll could be boosted to $85 mill. Problem is, it can't be...so other moves have to be made.

Oakland has no use for one of the worst 3Bman in the league, considering they have the best 3Bman in the league.
-
You might be right. But if you use that logic, then none of Oakland's big 3 was the ace this year...Zito was mediocre, Mulder fell apart down the stretch, and Hudson had an injury riddled year. Rich Harden was the ace of that staff, with him being probably the most consistent starter from game 1 to game 162. Konerko had the best year of his career, but is not getting better. His value is at its highest its ever been, and KW knows that, and Beane knows that. Beane is not looking at keeping Konerko...I dont see how he can be. I see him being more interested in what he can get for Konerko rather then what Konerko can do in the gold and green Hudson is a top 3 starter in the AL...easily. Konerko might be a top 3 1Bman, but is not a top 3 hitter in the league and is barely the 3rd best hitter on his team.
-
Nah, Valentin is the backup 3Bman, Cabrera is the utility middle IF. f' Cristian Guzman..he's not good enough to play on the Yankees. They need Miguel Tejada to play LF for them, that's what they need.

I don't know enough about the Red Sox farm system, so you'd have to clue me in on the situation...everything I've heard and read says that the Sawks farm system is dry. I'm sure there are hot commodities, every farm system has a few of them...that doesn't mean they have more then the White Sox or Yankees or some other team that could make an offer to Boston. Also...there is enough interest in Hudson that his value being very low does not mean a hell of a lot. His value would be low regardless of the season he had last year, this being the last year of his contract. And there is no one saying that Beane HAS to trade Hudson...he can trade Mulder and get good value for him too along with being able to trade Zito and getting value for him too. This is similar to the RJ scenario where many people think RJs value will not be high, but in reality is, due to the fact that Arizona does NOT have to trade him. Another thing...I disagree with Hudson having the worst year of his career. He was a little banged up this year, and didn't have as good a season as he has had in years past. He won 20 games in his second full season, sure...he also got offensive support that year. His ERA in 2000 was also over 4.00, his WHIP was around 1.24, his K/BB was around 2, and he gave up over a homer per start(about 1.06 HR/9). In 2004, his ERA was 3.53, his WHIP about 1.25, his K/BB of 2.5, and he gave up 1 homer every 3 starts(about .38 HR/9 innings...that's 8 homers in 188 2/3 innings pitched). What's insane about that is that he has gotten better about allowing homers in every year of his career...his homers allowed has decreased every year he's been in the majors(1.06 HR/9 in 00, .77 in 01, .71 in 02, .56 in 03, and as I said before, .38 in 04). His year was not nearly as bad as you make it out to be. This fits into the buy low, sell high philosophy due to the fact that Hudson's value is not nearly as low as you make it out to be, and trading Konerko after acquiring him would be in fact selling high and buying low. They have no use for Konerko other then to trade him. I have no doubt that they could be looking at Baltimore in getting Konerko...you get Konerko plus some very solid prospects for Hudson, and you then ship Konerko to Baltimore for Julio and Hairston. Hairston takes over in RF or 2B or wherever they need him, and he can be put in the lineup where they need him, and Julio adds a much needed arm to the bullpen.
-
Hey why not, they can include Chavez, Mulder, and Dotel too.
-
CW45...Julio would not be brought in to close. Rather, he'd be brought in to just be a reliever. I may be wrong...but I believe they still have Dotel under contract, along with Garcia waiting in the wings...and Julio would just further solidify an improving bullpen. I am not sure Bradford's situation, but I imagine they will want him back if he is a FA. If they can have a core pen built around Dotel-Garcia-Julio-Bradford, they will be in very good shape.
-
Youk for Hudson would not get it done. What else would Boston give up for Hudson? They have very little to trade to Oakland in return. Beane is one of the best GMs in the league for a reason. You think he'd take JUST Youk for Hudson? Beane knows you buy low, sell high...he's one of the best at it. It's very easy to see why he'd accept a Konerko plus others for Hudson. He's going to lose Hudson regardless of what he does this year, unless Hudson would take a major pay decrease, and he wouldn't, and he could get a solid package of players for Konerko, considering Konerko is at his very highest value right now.
-
Not sure I agree. We need a SS, and we don't want it to be a long term thing. I am not sure Vizquel being Latino has anything to do with it.
-
I know Beane likes Youkilis. But where's he gonna play him? He's got Chavez at 3B(and he's the cornerstone of that team), he's got Hatteberg at 1B(and he's got a bigger mancrush on Hatte then he does Youkilis), and Durazo at DH(and he's not gonna have Youkilis at DH). Again I ask...where's he gonna put him? The deal has to make sense for him to make it, regardless of how much he likes the guy.
-
I'm not sure New York is crazy enough to trade their starting catcher in the middle of a season. Then again, DePodesta was that crazy, and his boss isn't the craziest man in America. They probably could. Maybe I'm wrong in saying what I said.
-
That's not even the suggested trade. That's just the suggested starting point of the trade.
-
The deal makes sense for us, but no sense whatsoever for Oakland, unless they do intend on trading Konerko out just like that. Not sure if Beane would like Julio, but Oakland's bullpen needs to be upgraded, and they could potentially use someone like Hairston for the top of the order. I'd like Konerko plus others for Hudson...that'd be great. But I'm not sure how much else we'd have to give up. Probably a ton.
-
I say no, mainly because even if a move like that puts you over the top, you are still not guaranteed to win anything. The Yankees can go out and get the All-Star team...doesn't mean they are guaranteed a thing. Injuries happen, underachieving happens, overachieving happens...lots of things can happen. And you must note...I am only against trading our top 3 prospects in the offseason...I am not against the trade at all. I don't feel adding Johnson alone puts us over the top...but I do feel he makes us a much, much improved team pitching-wise, and that with other smaller additions, we could become a World Series contender. I am more for hoping that New York somehow does not figure out a way to get either RJ or Hudson in pinstripes next year, and that Hudson is not available at the trading deadline, because I have no doubt we can outbid the Yankees if we need RJ.
-
I don't see where KW would have had the opportunity to trade him. The Sox had pretty high expectations for him coming into this year, and had for quite some time. Many thought Ozzie's confidence in him would make him a much better pitcher(though we now see that did not happen). And he wasn't going to go anywhere at the trading deadline, unless it was for RJ. You are not going to trade one of your starting pitchers, an area you are weak at, for just anybody. I see this being the year Garland starts being shopped, but not necessarily moved. Another thing...I think if we have to give up Anderson/McCarthy/Sweeney in the offseason, then there are better options available. You do not trade a top 3 prospect in the offseason for a guy who has 1 year left on his deal and is 41 years old. Not even if it puts you over the top.

Jose has some of the best baseball instincts I have ever seen. I haven't seen a lot, but the point remains. He's a damn fine ball player, who just can't seem to hit above .240 I've said before I wouldn't mind Jose coming back, just not as a starter.
-
Not doubting this...because you've said it before...but I was just curious if you had a source for this.
