The classic, you can't spend a dollar if you only have $.50

I feel it is time for a very well thought out, mature post. DOLPHINS SUCK!!!

In baseball, the draft is such a goddamn crapshoot I'm not sure how anyone could follow it and make a good analysis of it. Let me ask you a question....when both are healthy and playing their best, who would you rather have, Darin Erstad or Mark Buehrle? No wrong answer here. Darin Erstad was drafted in the 1st round, 1st overall in 95....Buehrle was drafted in the 38th round. Joe Mauer is a hell of a prospect for the Twins right now. What do you bet he is worse then Mike Piazza when his career is done? Piazza was drafted 62nd round. I think you get my point.
-
Were they good picks or bad? That wasn't the point. I definitely like Honel as a pick but wonder how Ring will translate to the Majors. Will he have big success or will he just be a solid setup guy? Relievers tend to have short shelf lives. Only very few have long careers. I hope he is one of them. But the point of my comment was just that it seems every prospect is hyped as throwing hard. Harder than they probably actually do. Hi, I throw 102 mph, and have a wicked 12-6 curveball. My changeup is nasty, and I have a wicked slider and a mean-ass sinker. I can occassionally throw a good screwball, and my knuckler is devastating. My name is witesoxfan.

He does have family in Tampa and said that he wasn't going to manage the Mariners this year. He said he was going to go down to Florida. Seattle did the wise thing and gave him to Tampa, but as compensation, they got Randy Winn. Randy Winn isn't that bad of a player either. You watch out though....I say the DRays will be a contender in 2 years.

No and I agree whole-heartedly. I really could care less if your strikezone went from the players ankles to his eyes....as long as it is the same for both teams.

How the hell did we hold Tor to 2 runs in 2 games?
witesoxfan replied to witesoxfan's topic in Pale Hose Talk
No actually, I didn't. I knew we got good pitching....but I expected a little more out of the Red Sox then giving up 13 runs to them. We haven't even done that yet(against Toronto....I'm not even counting the 18-3 loss to Minnesota) -
I was on from midnight to one....then got tired and went to bed.

I think it was more a training video on learning how to thank your teammates for saving you ass from being shutout. We lost 7-3....Thomas went, what, 2-3 with a 2-run dinger, an RBI double to deep left center, a walk, and a K? That's a hell of a good night for Thomas. He gets any support at all....we could win this game easily. I should note that in Thomas's 3 at-bats versus Sabathia....a lefty....he got on all 3 times. He absolutely f***ing demolishes lefties. His one at-bat against a righty....he struck out. The way you can tell if Frank Thomas is struggling is how he is hitting against RHP. He is hitting them well....he is, flat out, hitting well. He is hitting righties poorly....he is hitting poorly overall. He always has and always will kill lefties.

Which two are you going to see?

Cheer loud as hell. If the Sox are on TV....I wanna hear you!

Yeah i dont care if we win 109-108, as long as we win. Winning is the most important thing, something Cubs fans forgot about 30 years ago. I will give the Cubs the fact that they are going in the right direction....somewhere we haven't gone since 2000. I dunno bout that. I mean i like their rotation. The rest of their team blows. They do have some good hitters....Choi is a good, young hitter, and Hill has been made into the second coming(though I don't see him as much more then a mediocre leadoff hitter). Patterson's gonna be a hell of a hitter someday too. I've said this from the day I joined the boards....the day SamME leaves the Cubs will be the best moment in Cubs history, aside from their two World Series championships. While he is gone, they play .550 or so ball...and the day he comes back, they lose 9-1. I don't know if those two are related. Anyways....I don't think their offense really matters at this point. All I said was that they are headed in the right direction, and we are not. They add a good hitter here or there...and they are a 95 win team. If they win the Series before us(and that will be a cold day in hell if that happens), we are pretty much f***ed as an organization. You think we get little press coverage now....(If I may borrow YASNY's acronym name)....you ain't seen nothing yet.

That's weird. Usually, more people are on.

I said 8-4 in the other thread....I figure we get Buehrle a lead early....like a run or two early....he holds that for the time being....we then give him a bigger cushion....like 2 or 3 more....and he gets too comfortable, gets himself in trouble, gives up 2 runs in a situation where it looked like he'd implode, and we get the old Buehrle back. His defense then lets him down again, and we goes 7 innings, 4 runs, 2 ER. 8-4 Sox win.
-
Either is fine with me. In both cases...Sox win!
-
Youre good at this. I've always felt I've needed to see 3 in a row before I believe it. You can get lucky with 2....but the third one is key. That's another reason why I feel this is a make or break year for Big Frank.....and it has been a big year for Buehrle. You do it for 3 straight....you are for real. For a score....I don't know if that will be right....but I am pretty sure the Sox will win tomorrow...or if what I have heard from the guys talking during the game is right....we won't lose(supposedly, the forecast has a s*** load of rain headed towards Cleveland as I type). Assuming we can play tomorrow....I think 8-4 could be very close. The guy pitching for the Indians tomorrow has a career ERA of 6.25 or so against the Sox....and if Buehrle and the defense behind him show up like they did in Toronto....along with a bullpen that pitches better then it did in Toronto in relief of Buehrle....4 runs could be very close to what they get. We'll just have to see. As for lottery numbers....I'll just stick to baseball, where I can actually have a basis for my predictions/guesses.

I say we lose 7-3. oops, i was a day late on this vision, i guess. Hey, we're both right! White Sox fans win again! I dont have this vision thing mastered yet, but I am amazing with numbers. That you are It's kind of funny....you are right a lot of the times....yet, last week, you say we are going to go on a winning streak, or better things will start coming....yet, here we are, in the same goddamn situation....the first time you are really wrong is the time we as a fan base need you to be right....let alone the team itself.
-
Go Buehrle
-
You know, for a guess, I was pretty f***ing close. We lost 7-3, I said 5-3....what's the difference(other then 2 runs....had to point that out or else some smart ass will comeback and say that)?

Yeah we suck for sure. What can ya do? Follow 'em and continue cheering(or booing, depending upon the situation)
-
It's these kinds of times that seperate real fans from casual fans. And, from what I can tell, most have stuck around. That's good to see. You know what though....I wouldn't mind a winning streak. Give us 5 or 6 in a row....and I'll be happy for about a week.

Commentary: Trading Colon Could be the Solution
witesoxfan replied to Chisoxfn's topic in Pale Hose Talk
LMFAO.... In one post, I get the s*** ripped out of me for even considering trading Maggs for a minor leaguer and a guy who has struggled big time over the last two years, and in the next post, I get the s*** ripped out of me because Beane probably won't give up Harden no matter what. I don't even know what to say....LOL -
You know, we suck works just the same.
