How about Captain Cork? SportsCenter did that one. You know Captain Kirk on Star Trek? Yeah, that's where they got "Captain Cork" from. I know it ain't good....but it would make a hell of a shirt. I should have one made like that. That'd be the s***.

A sox win????
Suppose we will get on a winning streak after this?

Crede + Konerko
Wasn't there some rumor in the offseason of Paul Konerko going to SF for Russ Ortiz? What would you prefer at this moment....a rotation of Buehrle, Ortiz, Loaiza, Garland, Wright with a lineup of Jimenez, Lee, Thomas, Maggs, Liefer/Daubach....yadda yadda....or a rotation of Buehrle, Colon, Loaiza....yadda yadda yadda....and Konerko in Liefer's/Daubach's spot? Colon is a hell of a pitcher....but I think I'd prefer the former, rather then the latter. Atleast Lief/Daubach are cheap enough that we could flat out release them if necessary.

Jose Canseco on OTLN
If Bo's hips hadn't gone to hell, he could have been a HoF baseball or football player....which ever one he chose to do full-time. He just did both, and I assume that was the main reason his hips got f***ed up. I've seen footage of Bo doing both sports....obviously...and I won't forget 4 things about Bo. 1) Him running into the tunnel after his touchdown 2) Him running over Bosworth(?) or whoever that big linebacker was that played for the Seahawks 3) Him running up the wall on his catch 4) His homer in his first at bat back Didn't he also make a throw an incredible throw once upon a time as well? Bo Jackson - best athlete ever

Chicago White Sox 2003 Day 2 Draft Thread
I have a guy on my baseball team that can throw with both hands. It's funny as hell, because he'll pitch a game with his right arm....his natural throwing arm....and then we'll say to the coach "He's still got his left arm too!"

TSN responds to my Konerko question
I got my name in one of those type of things once too. It's cool as hell to see your name on a big website like that.

WORST FOR BEST LEAGUE
Cool...we still need about 7-11 more teams.
-
Promote our studs
fire the team and keep jm..... its not his fault that we have lazy, good for nothings who are so self centered ...........get rid of them all and bring up the trip a team..... at least they will play with heart and desire......probably a lot more interesting to watch too......... :fyou this team............the whole selfish bunch of them......... HSC....I think I'm gonna agree with JTC. Manuel may not be a bad manager....but he has got to get these guys motivated enough to play ball. If he has to do it every night, so be it. He's gotta get them to bust their ass. If they aren't busting their ass on every play, then bench them and put someone else in. If DJ isn't busting his ass, bench him and use Tony G. If PK isn't busting his ass then bench him and use Daubach at first. If Lee or Maggs or Borchard....if anyone isn't busting their ass, bench them. If Manuel can't figure that out, then he does not deserve to be manager. That's where the manager needs to take the blame.

How many people watched it all?
I LOVE minor league baseball. I go to see the South Bend Silver Hawks a couple of times a summer at least. Free street parking, $5 tickets, and cheap food. Everybody hustles and wants to be there. They willingly give autographs and interact with fans. The game is still pure at that level. That's baseball. The ball these major leaguers play....I don't know....maybe my-nuts-are-bigger-than-yours ball?....something like that. What the White Sox are playing sure as hell isn't baseball

WORST FOR BEST LEAGUE
I'd be very interested....so long as everyone else joins my league as well. Just as fun!

Texas releases Todd Van Poppel
I don't have a link handy....but I know I saw it on the bottomline of ESPN. Shows that they are a team that has a clue. They aren't even competing, and they released a reliever that is pitching s***ty for them. Think the White Sox would release/try to get anything for Rick White right now? Of course not! We're the White Sox!

Jeffrey Hammonds released by Brewers.
Ever heard of clubhouse chemistry? It would be ruined with Lofton in the clubhouse. He was the team rep last year at the meetings and took a different stance on the issue then the majority of the Sox players did. In other words, he pissed a bunch of them off. Lofton is s***ty in CF defensively, and if he got in a funk like he did last year and was a little b**** about it and didn't take BP and never got out of his slump until he was traded to a team that is in playoff contention, much like last year...what does that make us look like? I'll tell you....it makes us look like a bunch of dumbf***s. I'll make a comparison for you. We are a fish....and we bite the bait of Kenny Lofton once, and we get caught and made into b****ed. We are then let off the hook by the Giants. We then bite the bait that is Kenny Lofton once again....and he is a bust. We'd bite the same bait twice, and we'd look like idiots for doing it again. I have to ask....have you ever touched a hot stove intentionally, just to see what it was like? If so, and I'm assuming you did, did you ever do it again? My point exactly. Kenny Lofton is no. I blame that peckerhead for a lot of what went wrong last year. I do not like him as a player, and I sure as hell don't want him back on the Sox.

Garlands a fluke!!!!!!!!!!!
I highly doubt he'll always suck. I think that at the very least he'll be a very good end of the rotation guy later on in his career.
-
Crede + Konerko
Frank is getting on base. Carlos has been running the bases better and has been hitting solid. Miguel has been pretty good as well(and with his arm, he could hit .200 and I'd be fine with it). Otherwise, I agree.

WHY do they call chewin tabbacco......
I don't either(though I've tried it). I know a few brands of cigarettes, but I'll never smoke.

Pray for The Ugly One
Holy s***....that's terrible. I wish him the best. I hope he finds a better job.

WHY do they call chewin tabbacco......
There is a kind of chewing tobacco called Kodiak. You know, like Copenhagen and Skoal.

I am unemployed!!!!!!!!
Apply for a good one?

Manuel
Now THAT'S my kind of style!

One thing about Sammy
Steff....agreed. He is stupid enough to not seperate his corked bat from his game bats in some way shape or form, and he is too stupid to realize that the corked bat had a little 'C' on it. In another note, I found out something very funny. On the Yahoo! poll about Sosa's corking, about 65% of the people that took the pole did not believe his excuse. LMAO

Anybody Watching.....
Correct me if I'm wrong here, but didn't Krause resign?

creak, creak, creak...
We'll get very, very, very little for Thomas, so the smart thing to do would be to keep him. If he ever gets going again, he can carry a team by himself. I say we keep one of Loazia and Colon....one is relatively cheap for next year, and will probably put up solid stats, and one is going to cost a bit more, but is a workhorse and a stud. There is no wrong choice....and both will net some very good prospects. I say take the best offer that gets rid of one....and do no more. Get rid of not only Gordon, Koch, and Wunsch, but see if anyone wants to take a shot on Rick White. He's been a piece of s*** for us....but maybe he'll turn it around with another team. I'd take anything for him. Unless we can get a good offer for Jose....I'd keep him. He doesn't have a good glove....but he's got good range....and I really don't want to see Jimenez anywhere but 2B, and we don't have another SS(though I believe Neifi Perez is a FA after this year....he might be worth a shot). Also....don't exclude the intangibles. Even the biggest Jose bashers will tell you he is a good leader. If we can get anything for Konerko....you do that move immeadiately. If you don't get anything, send him down to the minors to figure s*** out....he'd have to clear waivers, but I don't think anyone wants to take him....and if they do, so be it. He's too damn expensive to keep around while he hits below the Karkovice/K-layton line. I'd also trade Daubach. If a team has a guy that gets injured for a long period of time, Daubach is the perfect guy for them(assuming the guy is a LF/RF/1B/DH). If, for example, Erubiel Durazo gets hurt in Oakland, a guy like Daubach could get us another Jon Adkins.....OK, bad example, but I think you get my point. If a team needs a good, clutch, util IF....I'd also trade Tony G. It'd actually be kind of sad to see him go....but if he could get us a prospect or two, that'd be great. One of Tim Hummel and Jorge Nunez(or whatever that guys name was that we got from Montreal in the Colon deal) will be ready to take over as util IF. And if you can, trade Josh Paul....please. I'd take a wet rag and a bowl of soup for that piece of s***....just get us a real catcher, please.
