IF the Cards make a phone call to him and offer some money, he will go to KW and will say, one more time: "I would love to play in Stlouis!" The Cards can't talk to him. That's tampering. We'd have to contact them about a trade, or them contact us about a trade. Yes, you are correct sir. What??? Tampering is against the rules. I'm not sure what the penalty is for it, but I'm sure it is harse. The Cardinals cannot call Buehrle up and discuss signing him/trading for him, unless either they have our permission to, we contact them about making a trade, or they contact us about making a trade.

lol wsf wasnt the fact we gave them parque enough to warrent a win????????? I thought Tanyon Sturtze was good enough, but apparently, they wanted a better pitcher.

I think he's getting at the fact that Bonds only struck out like 40 or 50 times last year, and he might take home the golden sombrero tonight.
-
What in the hell are you talking about? Gord Ash would make that trade too!

It's alterity alright. And thanks for adding a reason why the Rays will beat the White Sox....they'll lose to them for sure now!

Dude, that is a terrible nickname.

I like your idea a lot, except for one thing. By contracting 4 you'd be down to 26 teams. I'd go for 28, with 2 leagues, each with two seven team divisions. Everything else you have in there is great IMO. Want to be commissioner? Agreed. I'd only contract two, Florida and Montreal. There are 2 s***ty Florida teams, but Tampa has a 26-year lease or something like that on their stadium....the Marlins do not. I'd also contract Montreal, simply to end this whole mess of s*** of relocation and what not(Peter Gammons seems to think that relocation solves everything....I guess that's why Peter Gammons is not working for the MLB...I don't think it solves anything). It's either contract two(which I'm very much in favor of) or expand and get two more teams(which I'm very much opposed to). The talent level is watered down a s***load as it is.....can you imagine how much s***tier it would be if we added two more teams in the league? Ugh....I don't even want to think about that. The second thing I would do is argue my case to death to get a salary cap and a salary floor(or whatever you wanna call it). The lowest payroll you could have is $40 mill, and the highest is $100 mill. For every $1 mill you go over, you pay $10 mill in tax. It would stop the Yankees of the world from spending so f***ing much, because with my play, they'd owe approximately $500 million at the end of the year. Maybe that's a little harsh....but it would be something like that. Also, for every $1 mill you go under, you'd have to pay a lesser tax....$1 mill. It would keep teams like Tampa from just rebuilding a s*** load like they are doing and paying only $19 mill or so for their entire team. Because some teams would have already met their limits of $100 mill(such as the Yanks, Red Sox, Rangers, Mets, Dodgers, Braves, DBacks....etc etc etc) there would be no where to go. It would also force stiff asses like Jerry Reinsdorf to dish out a little cash here and there, and have a payroll of $70 mill or so(either sell the White Sox or sell the Bulls JR). Schott in Oakland would be forced to spend a little more or sell, Illitch in Detroit would be forced to spend a little more, Glass(I think his name is) in Kansas would be forced to spend a little more, etc. If only it were that easy.

Well, that's a b****

What was your impression of Borch? Really nice guy. He signed about 4 balls for me. I went to the hotel around 1 in the afternoon and thought maybe I'd catch him leaving for lunch or something. Sure enough, I saw him laying outside next to the pool and asked some other guys who appeared to be Knights teammates if that was him. They said to go ahead out there. I introduced myself and he was really easy to talk to. Sat there for about 30 mins and talked Sox baseball and he answered all the questions I had. So my impression of him was great. When I heard him at Soxfest he came off as extremely smart. He was well studied, a hard worker, and a quick learner. Going to Stanford will do that for ya. I love the guy, I hope he pans out because he'll be great for the city of Chicago. If he shortens his swing, he will pan out.

I don't want to expand the playoffs. That idea is just as bad, if not worse, then home field decided by the All-Star game. What I'd like to see is the two top second place teams in each league go at it in a 1-game playoff after the season is over to decide who is going to the postseason. That puts the Wild Card at a disadvantage, the way it should be, so they then go into a 5-game(should be 7-game) series with the best team in the league. It will be the Wild Card's #2 against the best team's ace....3-2, 4-3....and then the ace comes up, and it is 1-4. That's the only game the Wild Card would have an advantage on the division winning team...on paper. Who knows....maybe that division winning team has Mark Prior as their 4th starter.

We do do that HSC....a dollar short and a day late.

If Chicago loses the White Sox the city will not get another ML team soon if ever. Chicago is not the monster city and metro area it was when I was a kid. You know the LA area has 16 million people, about twice the Chicago total. Some have proposed a third major league team for the Riverside-San Bernadino area, the fastest growing counties in greater LA. Some baseball owners like Peter Angelos have stated that Chicago is no longer a viable two team market. The football Cardinals left the south side after the 59 season. They've yet to be replaced. The White Sox were ticketed for Milwaukee in the late 60's. MLB was going to move the team to Seattle in 76 to settle a lawsuit with that city until Bill Veeck came out of nowhere to buy the team again. This franchise has been on the edge too many times in its history. Before I get old I'd like to see them established as a premier ML franchise. In Chicago. Great posts. I'd just like to mention one thing. Do you know what will happen if the Cubs win the series before the Sox? I'd have to say that it would pretty much be the end of the Sox.

Hold on........how do we know for sure it's the real alterity? CWSOX45 If he ever stops back, I have to ask him a question...he may not remember, but for sure he'll give it his best shot. Alterity....why will the DRays beat the White Sox next time they play them? Also....what is Raysball? It's the real deal, Alterity is in the building!! Promise. Sweet s***....now he's gonna troll the board when we play the DRays! Alterity & DRays

I've created two more....stealing both from Winning Ugly( ....they're good ideas though). Here's the info....and oh, one more thing....in the pick your players league, I already have the White Sox. Pick the Expos or something....the best major league farm team ever. Pick your Team league League ID#: 304476 Password: baseball Draft time: Friday, June 13th at 9:10 AM CT Best for Worst league League ID#: 304479 Password: best4worst Draft time: Friday, June 13th at 11:25 AM CT Note: if you do join, there will probably be a few new faces....including one-to-three Cub(s) fan and possibly one Twin fan.....the Cub(s) fans are all good people, though one is a huge Frank Thomas hater, and the Twin fan is an ass....just ignore him. Also....there will quite possibly be some other fans....so just bear with me. I wanted to get these leagues started, so that way we could try them out.

I'm sure you'd know with the White Sox. If it ain't one thing, it's the other(or a combination of the two).
-
Alterity! How the hell have you been?
-
That's different... Right now, I don't know if anyone on this roster is not tradeable for the right price (except Ordonez and Olivo becasue they are studs). But I'm sure if you look back at posts somewhere along the lines of "JON GARLAND SUCKS! DUMP HIS WORTHLESS ASS! HE'S THE WORST PITCHER IN BASEBALL..." Etc. I agree with that. I was never on that bandwagon.

Floyd Bannister....born in Pierre, SD. That's sweet s***.

I say we begin the youth movement. I should note that Colon, Buehrle, and Loaiza are all included in the "youth."

I wasn't availabe and I really didn't want something like the HOST team getting extra good players or not getting enough good players. If the HOST team had gotten like 6 good players, then I would have had to have dropped 2, making getting those players a crapshoot. Had I not gotten enough, then I would be putting some teams that had penciled those guys in as their savior and their stud for their team and getting them would hurt their team. If I can....do you want me to move it a little later in the day? Dammit...I just checked, and the time slot for later on in the day if full. f***. I guess you're going to have to prerank your players....which is definately not as fun as actually drafting. Sorry everyone for this. I just hope that if you do prerank your players, that you end up having a good draft.

It does suck, I don't get out until next friday... btw, that monkey really freaks me out You don't like the monkey? SamME's relative

If the right deal came up, I'd still deal him. Note that I wouldn't dump him, I'd deal him.
-
Maybe if he did that, he'd nominate himself as manager?
